Chapter 234 Resolute Attitude

Chapter 234 Resolute Attitude

He clearly stood on her side.

At that moment, she felt as if something had struck her heart hard, a bittersweet feeling mixed with a warm current.

Song Jinfeng's face first flushed red, and the veins on her forehead throbbed; then, the color faded, and she turned ashen white; finally, her face darkened, turning a deep, almost blackish-blue color.

"OK!"

She gave a sharp, cold laugh. "I raised you with so much painstaking care of you for over twenty years, feeding you, dressing you, and sending you to school. And now—you want to kick me out for some woman who just came into the house?"

She suddenly raised her withered finger and pointed it directly at Qiao Wanyin, who was standing by the bed. Her voice instantly rose: "Did you say something behind my back? Did you whisper in my son's ear every day? Did you mess with his mind? Did you make your husband forget who his mother is!"

"mom!"

Fu Li'an suddenly panicked, his chest tightened, and as soon as he raised his voice, it aggravated the wound in his abdomen, causing him to bend over in pain and cough several times, with fine beads of cold sweat appearing on his forehead.

Seeing this, Qiao Wanyin immediately put the cup in her hand on the bedside table. Without thinking of anything else, she quickly reached out and gently patted his back. Her movements were gentle and rhythmic, trying to help him ease the pain.

"Mom, please don't get angry."

Once Fu Li'an had calmed down a bit, Qiao Wanyin raised her head, her tone still steady and neither humble nor arrogant, "Li'an has only been awake for a short time. The doctor has repeatedly instructed him not to be subjected to too much stimulation or get too emotional. The most important thing now is to let him recover properly."

Stop pretending!

Song Jinfeng suddenly roared, her eyes red, tears and snot streaming down her face. She looked both angry and aggrieved. "It's you! From the day you stepped into this house, my son hasn't even looked at me! He doesn't answer the phone, doesn't reply to messages, and doesn't even say hello! I'm treated worse than an outsider! What are you thinking!"

The nurse at the door heard the commotion and couldn't help but peek in; her figure in the white coat looked particularly small.

She gently reminded them, "Could you please keep your voices down? This is the inpatient ward, and the other patients need to rest. Please cooperate."

Upon hearing someone come in to offer advice, Song Jinfeng immediately changed her expression. Sobbing, she turned to the nurse, her face still streaked with tears, her voice suddenly weakening: "Comrade, you be the judge! My son just had major surgery and hasn't even been fully awake in his hospital bed for a few days, and this daughter-in-law is already eager to kick me out, showing absolutely no consideration! Is there any daughter-in-law like this in the world? My heart is broken!"

The young nurse was completely confused. She frowned slightly, glanced at her agitated mother-in-law, and then turned to look at Qiao Wanyin, who stood silently but ramrod straight. She didn't know what to say for a moment.

Before Qiao Wanyin could explain, Fu Li'an gritted his teeth, used all his strength to prop himself up, and said in a weak but resolute voice, "Mom, can you please stop making a scene? I don't want to say it a second time. I'll have someone arrange a car to take you back to Ningzhou right now."

The moment those words were spoken, the air in the ward seemed to freeze.

Song Jinfeng's face turned deathly pale, as if all the color had been drained from her.

She staggered back two steps and leaned against the cold wall, her right hand trembling violently, like a withered leaf in the wind, completely out of control.

"Okay...okay!"

Her lips trembled, her voice broken and fragmented, "I risked my life to raise you, scrimped and saved to send you to school, and didn't even dare to go to the hospital when I was sick, afraid of spending money... Now that you've grown up, is this how you repay me?"

She suddenly raised her head, her eyes filled with tears, yet also with undisguised resentment. "I'm your own mother! I carried you for ten months, gave birth to you, raised you, taught you to speak and walk, and my hair turned white from worrying about you... Am I really not as good as a country girl?"

Fu Lian took a breath, her breath was weak but her words were clear, her voice was not loud but very firm: "Mom, it's not that I don't acknowledge you, nor that I'm deliberately trying to neglect you. But ever since you came here, your words and actions have been targeting Wan Yin, and I can see that very clearly."

"Not only were you cold to her, but you also colluded with outsiders in secret to set a trap for me, to make me doubt her, to distance myself from her, and even to force me to make a decision that would hurt her."

As he spoke, a hint of suppressed heartache crept into his voice.

Song Jinfeng's face suddenly changed, turning pale and then red, as if her secret had been exposed. She was instantly furious, turned her head sharply and glared at Qiao Wanyin standing to the side, pointing at her and shouting, "It must be you who gossiped behind my back and tried to sow discord between my son and me! Otherwise, why would Fu Li'an say such a thing!"

Qiao Wanyin opened her mouth, wanting to explain, but Fu Li'an raised his hand and interrupted her.

His voice was calm yet carried an undeniable authority: "Wanyin didn't say anything. From beginning to end, she didn't say a single harsh word to you."

“I’m not blind, nor am I stupid. Although I didn’t see every single thing that happened between you, I understand it very well. I can see clearly who is truly good for this family and who is secretly scheming.”

He stared directly at his mother, showing no sign of backing down.

"You're saying I framed her?"

Song Jinfeng's face turned ashen with rage, her chest heaving violently. Her finger trembled as she pointed at Fu Lian, "It was clearly her who had been scheming from the very beginning, pushing me away step by step! Pretending to be virtuous and weak, she used countless underhanded tactics behind the scenes! You were kept in the dark by her!"

Upon hearing this, Qiao Wanyin simply pursed her lips silently, offering no rebuttal.

She lowered her eyes, her fingers gently gripping the hem of her dress, her nails digging slightly into her palm.

She understood that anything she said at that moment would seem pale and powerless in front of her emotionally charged mother.

Making excuses will only escalate the conflict and make the already tense atmosphere even more difficult to resolve.

Silence may be the most rational choice at this moment.

"Guard!"

Fu Li'an suddenly raised his voice, which, though weak, carried an air of authority and instantly pierced through the oppressive atmosphere in the room.

Before the words were finished, a young soldier quickly pushed open the door and entered. His steps were steady and his movements were nimble. He stood in front of the bed, his back straight, and gave a standard military salute: "Regimental Commander!"

"Prepare the car, we'll take my mom back to Ningzhou right away."

Fu Li'an's tone was resolute, his eyes as firm as iron: "Let's set off now, without delay."

Song Jinfeng stood frozen in place, as if struck by lightning. Her whole body stiffened, her face turning from red to white, and her lips trembled as she said, "Fu Li'an, you...you dare to treat me like this! I'm your own mother! How could you kick me out?"

"Mom, please don't do this."

Fu Li'an's tone softened slightly, a hint of reluctance flashing in his eyes, but he still insisted, "I am still recovering from my serious injuries and need to rest. Wan Yin is also pregnant and cannot afford to have her emotions fluctuate too much. She needs a quiet and stable environment."

“Let’s talk properly after you go back and calm down for a while, okay? The current situation is not good for anyone.”
