Chapter 99 Without rules, nothing can be accomplished.

Chapter 99 Without rules, nothing can be accomplished.

After saying that, he turned and left.

Fu Lan quickly called out to her, "Sister-in-law!"

Qiao Wanyin paused, turned around and looked at her: "Is there anything else?"

Fu Lan forced a smile: "Hey, I know who wrote that whistleblower letter!"

"oh?"

Qiao Wanyin raised an eyebrow.

"Then tell me, who is it?"

Fu Lan pretended to think for a moment, then deliberately dragged out her words: "It must be a problem among your own people!"

"Think about it, anyone can suggest setting up a mutual aid center, but if you end up in charge, will others be satisfied? Won't they have their own thoughts?"

She paused, seemingly observing Qiao Wanyin's reaction, and then added another sentence.

"Sister-in-law, you haven't been here long and don't know many things. You have to be careful in your dealings with people. Some people may seem friendly on the surface, but they may not have good intentions behind your back."

Qiao Wanyin almost rolled her eyes at her "for your own good" act.

She knew perfectly well that Fu Lan's words, though seemingly a reminder, were actually an attempt to stir up trouble and incite internal conflict.

If it weren't for the comments reminding me, I could easily have been fooled by her innocent and honest appearance.

That comment was written a long time ago.

[Fu Lan is framing her colleague; don't believe her.]

"Oh, Comrade Zhong, you're absolutely right!"

Qiao Wanyin deliberately feigned a shocked expression, widening her eyes and slapping her thigh with one hand.

“I really hadn’t thought about it that way. You’re right, this matter really can’t be left like this.”

She stood up, paced back and forth a couple of times, and her tone became serious.

"Then we must conduct a thorough internal investigation and find the person who is causing trouble! We cannot allow someone with ulterior motives to sabotage our work."

She turned her head and gave Fu Lan a sincere smile.

"Thank you so much for reminding me today. I would have been completely in the dark if it weren't for you."

Upon hearing this, Fu Lan's face immediately lit up with joy.

"Sister-in-law, you're too kind. We're all just trying to do what's best for our work. I was just saying it casually, and the fact that you listened to me shows that you're a reliable person."

After she finished speaking, she gently patted Qiao Wanyin's hand.

[Hmph, what can a country bumpkin like her accomplish?]

Qiao Wanyin sneered inwardly, but her face remained amiable.

She said a few more polite words, such as "Let's communicate more in the future" and "Please give me more guidance," before turning and leaving.

Back home, she quickly tied on her apron, rolled up her sleeves, and began preparing dinner.

She took the bok choy out of the basket, removed the old leaves one by one, and washed them clean in a basin.

The iron wok was smoking hot when she flicked her wrist, and the rapeseed oil splattered with a "sizzle".

The oil was at the perfect temperature, and she quickly poured the drained vegetables into the pan.

As soon as the scallions, ginger, and garlic were thrown into the pot, the oil sizzled and popped.

The aroma wafted out through the crack in the door, even causing the stray cat in the corner to raise its head.

On the other side, in the casserole, kelp was bubbling away.

The kelp is soft, chewy, and melts in your mouth with a gentle bite.

As soon as the hot oil is poured over the ingredients, the white vinegar and dried chili peppers burst into a pungent aroma, and a spicy fragrance rises from the pot.

Dip the potatoes in the chili oil, then quickly stir-fry until they are just cooked through and turn golden and translucent.

Just as the last dish was placed on the table, Fu Lian pushed open the door and came in.

He stood ramrod straight, his military uniform perfectly neat and wrinkle-free.

Upon closer inspection, one could see some bluish discoloration under his eyes, and a weariness emanated from his brows and eyes.

"It smells so good."

He stood in the entryway, took off his coat and hung it up, then took a deep breath.

Qiao Wanyin wiped her hands.

"The mutual aid center is doing very well. There are many people coming, and things are complicated, but everyone is cooperating. I think we should celebrate."

Fu Lian walked over and gently hugged her from behind, resting his chin lightly on her shoulder.

"I heard there are quite a lot of people?"

"More than thirty!"

Qiao Wanyin turned around.

"Some volunteered, and a few were brought by neighbors. Everyone is very enthusiastic and supportive! Go wash your hands, it's time to eat! The food is getting cold."

After dinner, Qiao Wanyin took out all the information about the mutual aid center.

Register, inventory list, activity records, and income and expenditure details.

She carefully checked each item one by one, making marks in her notebook from time to time.

Fu Li'an sat on a small stool next to him, holding a glass of warm water, occasionally offering suggestions and opinions.

He looked very carefully, and when he encountered a vague item, he would stop and ask to clarify it.

I also reminded her to refine a few more steps in the subsequent procedures to avoid being caught off guard later.

It was late at night, and the only sound in the room was the ticking of the clock.

Moonlight streamed in through the window, casting a soft glow on the documents on the corner of the table.

The two lay down together to sleep, but Qiao Wanyin tossed and turned and couldn't fall asleep.

She stared at the ceiling with her eyes open, her mind still going over every detail of the day, afraid that something might have gone wrong.

The next morning, she specially chose a light blue dress to wear, the hem of which was just above her knees, looking neat and tidy.

Her hair was neatly tied back with a black hair tie, leaving not a single stray hair.

She looked at herself in the mirror and straightened her collar.

She looks both presentable and energetic.

As soon as I reached the door, I saw Lin Xiaoyuan waiting there.

She wore grey-blue trousers with a white short-sleeved shirt.

She was very capable, walking with a confident stride, and carrying a folder in her hand.

"Sister Wanyin!"

Lin Xiaoyuan quickly stepped forward to meet him.

"I've found out that this meeting was a last-minute decision by Minister Li. He was only notified this morning, and there were no prior procedures. It's not impossible that something might go wrong along the way."

"Take those sachets and hair ornaments we made yesterday, for example. Did they get approval from above? Were the materials brought in and out properly registered? If any problems are found, who can take responsibility?"

Lin Xiaoyuan couldn't help but speak up.

“Minister Li, aren’t these just everyday handicrafts? The family members make them themselves all the time, and nothing has ever happened.”

“Comrade Xiao Lin,” Minister Li smiled, but the smile didn’t reach his eyes, “rules are rules. Just because things were fine before doesn’t mean they will be fine in the future. The situation has changed now, and management must keep up.”

Everyone unconsciously sat up straight, their eyes shifting back and forth between Qiao Wanyin and Minister Li.

Qiao Wanyin took a soft breath and pulled out a few more pages of paper from her bag.

"Minister Li, these are the records of each of our activities, as well as the list of participants. Each family member has signed a consent form. Every document is numbered and archived, and can be accessed at any time."

"Furthermore, whoever makes each item is responsible for it to the end. Whoever handles it, signs it, and bears the responsibility is very clear in the chain of responsibility."

Minister Li was clearly surprised by her thorough preparation. He looked through the documents in his hand, his expression becoming hesitant, and he was speechless for a moment.

At this moment, Fu Lan slowly spoke up: "Comrade Qiao, you've prepared quite thoroughly. The documents are also neatly arranged; it's clear you've put in the effort."

"But I heard you're planning to do something else... make money on the side? That's way too much! You're meddling way too much in family activities. What kind of serious business is that?"

Qiao Wanyin's eyes lit up slightly.
