In the evening, Ye Yun and Qin Zheng took a walk near the garment factory. The snow seemed to reflect light under the moonlight, illuminating the surroundings.
There were vendors on the roadside, packing up their wares and putting them on pedal tricycles.
The temperature is low in winter and business is slow. Usually, when we see that there are no customers, we just pack up and go home. It is better to fill our stomachs at home and warm ourselves by the fire with our family.
Ye Yun and Qin Zheng also walked back. It was too late and large wild animals would come out to look for food in the nearby mountains.
Not a few steps yet.
When passing by a stinky ditch, I saw a man riding a 28-inch bicycle throwing a cloth bag into the ditch with a "pa" sound.
The cloth bag broke the thin ice that had just formed on the surface of the ditch.
A panicked kitten cried out——
Ye Yun was stunned for a moment, and looked at Qin Zheng, both seeing disbelief in each other's eyes.
The man riding the 28-inch bicycle seemed to be afraid of being entangled when he heard the shouting, and he threw away the hot potato in his hand and ran away on the 28-inch bicycle as if he was escaping for his life.
Qin Zheng ran over immediately.
He lay down beside the stinky ditch and picked up the pitch-black cloth bag with his long arms.
Water was dripping from the cloth bag. Qin Zheng hurriedly untied the rope and found a litter of kittens inside, all of which were soaked in the stinky water.
The kitten looked thin and small, and was dripping wet, having just opened its eyes.
The feeling of being soaked in ice water frightened the kittens. The little ones huddled together tremblingly, desperately trying to find warmth.
"this……"
Ye Yun was speechless. She untied the scarf around her neck and tried to wipe the kitten clean.
Qin Zheng took off his hat before her and stopped her action. He whispered to her to put on the scarf, then took off the hat on his head, put a few wet kittens into the warm hat, and quickly put them in his arms.
Holding Ye Yun's hand, he walked towards the garment factory and said gently, "Hurry back and warm yourself by the fire. Only as many as can survive will survive."
Ye Yun nodded.
Feeling uncomfortable, she turned her head to look in the direction where the man riding the 28-inch bicycle was leaving.
There was no trace of the man in the pitch-black night, only a trail of wheel tracks that were gradually moving away. I wonder if the man would feel guilty about this as the road was slippery at night.
Back to the garment factory.
As soon as he entered the house, Qin Zheng quickly took out a few kittens from his arms and placed them next to the stove to keep them warm.
The kittens had already been soaked in the stinky water, and their bodies were stained with stinky water and sticky mud. Ye Yun simply asked Qin Zheng to add warm water and clean them carefully.
Normally, kittens should not be washed, lest they catch a cold and die.
But is there anything worse going on right now?
Washing them with warm water is the most beneficial and quickest method.
Of course, when cleaning the kitten, Ye Yun was very careful to avoid the belly button, which was more susceptible to cold, and only used warm water in her hands to lightly rinse off the mud stain.
When she was done, she dried them with a towel and placed them over the stove to dry the fluff.
There are five kittens in total.
The colors are mixed, two are tabby, two are three-flowered, and there is even a small orange.
The situation of the four of them was fine. When Ye Yun and Qin Zheng were giving them a bath, they would whimper and twist their bodies to show their resistance.
The remaining little orange one looked sick, breathing out more than breathing in, with its head drooping.
Qin Zheng took it, shook it upside down a few times to shake out the dirty water that had choked its lungs, placed it next to the stove, pressed its heart gently, then held its mouth and blew some air into it.
You can vaguely see Xiaoju's belly rising and falling slightly, but there is still not much movement.
Seeing this, Qin Zheng repeated the heart-pressing and breathing movements several times, and finally the little orange cat let out a faint cry.
“It works.”
The moment the kitten's faint whimpering sound appeared, Ye Yun's eyes lit up slightly.
Qin Zheng saw the dazzling light in her eyes, and his mood also improved a lot. "We have done what we can. Whether we can survive tonight depends on luck."
Ye Yun nodded, "Yeah."
The two of them had already prepared a cardboard box, padded it with soft cotton wool, and placed it next to the stove to keep it warm.
Qin Zheng put the sick Xiaoju into the nest together with several other kittens.
Little Orange didn't have the strength to move, but the other kittens arched their bodies and enclosed it in the warm little group.
The fur on their bodies had been dried by Ye Yun over the stove and was now fluffy.
The five little guys are entangled together, the picture is a little warm, and it makes people feel that the years are peaceful.
only.
No one can laugh when thinking about what happened to them.
"Few city dwellers are interested in this thing. We like to raise it in the mountains to catch mice. There aren't that many mice to catch in the city, so not many people raise it. Some people even think it's a cunning and greedy thing, so they inevitably despise it."
Seeing that she was unhappy, Qin Zheng gently hugged her shoulders and whispered to comfort her:
"Don't worry, cats have nine lives. These things are very tough. It's impossible to kill them in one blow."
Ye Yun heard him say that and smiled slightly, "I know."
"Then you're still not happy?"
"Which eye of yours saw that I'm unhappy?" Ye Yun raised her eyebrows slightly and teased him.
Qin Zheng couldn't help but laugh. He hugged her and went to wash his hands. His voice was filled with helpless doting: "Okay, okay, you're not angry. I was just overthinking."
"Come on, I'll wash your feet after I wash my hands, and then we can go to bed."
…
The next day, Ye Yun woke up, rubbed her eyes and went to see the kitten by the fireplace.
