Chapter 178 I Really Pity You

Just like the day before yesterday.

She was just about to knead the dough when Zhou Mingjie rolled up his sleeves and followed her into the kitchen. "Leave this to me!"

"Never mind, it's fine. You should go and rest!"

Firstly, she didn't really have much confidence in his cooking skills.

Someone who has barely been in the kitchen shouldn't be expected to do these delicate tasks.

Secondly, the two had already agreed to divorce on the appointed day, and she didn't want to trouble him any further.

She just wanted to get through this period peacefully, and then the two of them could part ways amicably.

"You're making such a racket, I can't sleep either!" Zhou Mingjie insisted.

Yang Hongxing was speechless. Her movements were clearly very gentle!

Besides, it's just a bowl of noodles, it doesn't require any tools, so how could it keep him from sleeping?

So... is he here to cause trouble?

However, this was his home, and even if Yang Hongxing wanted to argue, she felt she lacked the confidence to do so.

Seeing that she didn't say anything, Zhou Mingjie picked up the flour bag from the corner of the kitchen and asked, "How much do you want to pour?"

"Half!" Seeing that he was really getting down to business, Yang Hongxing had no choice but to estimate the amount of flour in the bag with her eyes and give a number.

Thinking it would be better to finish early so that everyone could go and rest together, so as not to complain about disturbing him again.

After preparing the flour, he picked up a ladle and scooped up a full ladle of water.

Yang Hongxing quickly said, "Just a little water will do!"

"I know!" Zhou Mingjie said confidently. He had never kneaded dough before, but he had seen it before. How could this little task be difficult for him?

So he picked up the ladle, tilted it, and poured out most of the water. "Is this enough?" he asked.

Yang Hongxing looked at the puddle of water on the flour, took a deep breath, and suppressed the urge to kick him out immediately. "Enough...enough!"

Having received her reply, Zhou Mingjie confidently began kneading the flour.

However, he soon realized that something was wrong.

Even if he had never made noodles before, he still felt that this was too watery.

He tried to grab a lump of dough from the bowl, and it actually leaked out between his fingers.

Can this be used to make steamed buns?

No, I guess eating pancakes would be... just right.

"Um, I made a mistake!" He looked at the batter stuck to his hands, looking somewhat embarrassed.

But his inherent stubbornness prevented him from uttering a single word of apology.

So he added, "It's okay, I'll just add more flour and mix it up."

Before Yang Hongxing could say anything, he picked up the flour bag next to him and poured more than half of the flour into the basin.

Yang Hongxing's lips twitched at the sight. "Fine, I'll do it!"

"No need, it's just kneading some dough, it's a piece of cake."

He's really embarrassed himself today, and now he just wants to save face.

But soon, he was proven wrong again; the dough seemed...too dry.

Yang Hongxing couldn't hold back any longer. "Let me do it. We only have this much flour left at home, and we can't afford to waste it any more."

It's such a small thing; if he hadn't interfered, I would have finished it long ago.

They might already be washed up and in bed by now.

"Yang Hongxing, what do you mean?"

I've been busy all day, and if I can't even get a smile from you, at least don't belittle me to the point of being worthless!

It's just some flour, why are you so worried about it?

"I'll go to the supply and marketing cooperative tomorrow and buy a few bags to make up for it, okay?" He was still a little angry, so he picked up the dough balls from the basin and slammed them down a few times.

It seems like such a simple thing, but why do I always do it wrong?

Yang Hongxing quickly said, "That's not what I meant."

This is a woman's job; you, a grown man, shouldn't get involved.

You've worked so hard tonight, you should go and get some rest!

To avoid him saying that she was disturbing his rest, she added, "I'll be done soon, it won't take up much of your time."

Seeing that he was really not cut out for this, Zhou Mingjie had no choice but to give up and angrily went to the yard to wash his hands.

Upon hearing this, Su Nianxue covered her mouth and laughed, "And then?"

Yang Hongxing smiled wryly, "Later, I added some water to the dough and kneaded it well before going to sleep."

When I woke up, it had turned into a huge basin full.

We can't sell any of these.

So I used the leftover dough to make noodles at home, including knife-cut noodles, rolled noodles, and dumplings, eating them in different ways.

Later, fearing that the flour would turn sour over time, I made the rest into steamed buns.

Then, the two of us ate nothing but steamed buns for three whole days.

Before she could finish speaking, Su Nianxue clutched her stomach and burst into laughter, "Hongxing, I really feel sorry for you!"

Thankfully, Zhou Mingjie was home too, otherwise, how long would it take you to finish all those steamed buns by yourself!

"Who says it isn't?"

Nianxue, you have no idea. These past few days, I haven't even felt like making steamed buns. Just seeing any kind of pasta makes me feel a bit choked up.

So, that's why I came to your place today to relax and have some peace and quiet!

Yang Hongxing slumped against the armrest of the chair, looking at her with a resentful smile.

She now misses the days when he wasn't home.

She was so carefree at home alone back then, doing whatever she wanted without having to worry about him.

Anyway, he only comes back once every ten days or half a month.

I have no idea what's wrong with him right now.

Not only did he come home on time every night, but he also helped her with chores.

The key question is, was that really doing any work? To be precise, it was just causing trouble.

Zhou Mingjie gets a little unhappy whenever she says she doesn't need his help.

She was afraid of angering him, so she had to suppress the urge to kick him out and assigned him some delicate tasks.

Ah, life as a dependent is so hard!

Sometimes she thinks that maybe she should just move out and rent a place to live as soon as possible.

But her empty purse reminded her that she had to endure it a little longer.

After laughing for a while, Su Nianxue said, "Don't worry, I definitely won't cook noodles for you for lunch!"

"Yeah, I really don't want to eat noodles anymore."

Gu Yanliu came out of the kitchen carrying a plate of washed fruit.

He placed the plate in the middle of the table and sat down with them.

Looking at the chrysanthemums swaying in the cool breeze, Yang Hongxing smiled and said, "In a few more days, the chrysanthemums will be gone, won't they?"

"Yes, the weather is getting colder and colder. After this batch, they probably won't be able to keep blooming!"

Gu Yanliu, with her keen eye, picked a chrysanthemum from the flowerbed.

After rinsing, I put it in Yang Hongxing's cup.

"Sister-in-law Hongxing, have a drink too."

Winter is just around the corner, and the weather will be at its driest!

"Look, you have blisters on your lips. Have a drink to soothe them and cool down."

"Yanliu, you're so thoughtful. I want a girl like you too." Yang Hongxing picked up her cup and took a sip, her mouth filled with the fragrance of chrysanthemums.
