Chapter 231 A Man Should Keep Some Cards Up His Sleeve

She was always quiet around him, barely saying a few words a day.

And she never argues with him, just focuses on doing her own thing.

To be honest, he always thought she was boring and dull, and that personality didn't suit his taste.

Looking at it today, it's not entirely without merit.

Unexpectedly, she also has such a strong side, and she handled things fairly.

Anyway, it looks much better than before.

"Why are you staring at me like that?" Yang Hongxing was a little confused by his blank stare.

"No, you're mistaken." Zhou Mingjie curled his lips, a hint of pleasure in his voice.

In a great mood, his playful side resurfaced. He turned his head toward the old man's bed, raised an eyebrow, and said, "Hey, why is there an extra tooth on the bed?"

"Huh?" The old man's smile froze, and he quickly reached out and touched his precious teeth.

After counting them once, he realized that the brat was playing a trick on him. "Hey, you shameless bastard."

Even with both legs broken like that, they still won't stop for a moment.

What did these few teeth of mine ever do to you that you have to curse them all to fall out before you're satisfied?"

Seeing the old man's exasperated appearance, everyone in the room burst into laughter.

After staying in the hospital for seven days, Gu Yanbai decided to be discharged.

Su Nianxue was running around taking care of him, and he was a little worried.

The doctor examined him and agreed, only telling him to be careful when he got home.

Zhou Mingjie was somewhat troubled. "Yanbai, if you leave, I'll be all alone here."

Gu Yanbai glared at him back, "Do you think this is a market? You need someone to accompany you?"

Besides, my injury wasn't that serious to begin with; I can just go home and rest."

Having a sister at home can help out, so my wife doesn't have to work so hard.

Zhou Mingjie thought for a moment, "How about I go back with you?"

Being alone here is quite annoying.

If all else fails, I can stay at the town hospital; it's the same thing, at least it's closer to home.

The old man was discharged from the hospital yesterday, and now even if he wanted to argue with someone, he couldn't find anyone to talk to.

Gu Yanbai was about to leave, leaving him alone in the ward.

Gu Yanbai glared at him, "Nonsense!"

Your leg is completely immobile. Do you want to become a cripple in the future?

"You stay put and wait until you feel better before going back."

Zhou Mingjie glanced at his legs and could only sigh helplessly, "Alright, then let my wife go back with you. Please help look after her on the way."

Yang Hongxing looked up at him, a hint of coldness barely perceptible on her face. "You want to kick me out?"

"What do you mean by kicking you out?"

Now that your sister-in-law is going back, you'll be all alone.

How can I feel at ease with you, a woman with a big belly, running around like this?

"How could I not know that it's comfortable to be waited on?" Zhou Mingjie scratched his hair in annoyance and said irritably.

Yang Hongxing smiled faintly, "But if I leave, who will take care of you?"

Zhou Mingjie: "Don't worry, you won't starve."

Su Nianxue and Gu Yanbai watched this scene with obvious smiles in their eyes.

"Alright, I'll go to the shop later and ask them to send you some food. Just stay here and relax." Gu Yanbai quickly made up his mind.

"That's the only way to do it." Zhou Mingjie nodded; this was the only option now.

And so, the three of them took a car home, leaving Zhou Mingjie alone in the hospital.

As soon as they arrived home, Gu Yanliu hurriedly took the things from their hands.

Seeing his arm in a sling, her eyes welled up with tears. "Brother, does it hurt?"

"pain!"

"What should we do?" Gu Yanliu was at a loss.

"I reckon if I eat a few good meals, the pain will go away!" Gu Yanbai's lips curled up slightly, and he was in a very good mood.

He has to be comfortable at home; if he had to stay in that small room again, he would go crazy.

"Okay, I'll make it for you." Gu Yanliu rubbed her eyes, turned around and went into the house.

"You! All you do is tease her." Su Nianxue shook her head.

She brought a chair out of the house and placed it in the yard. "Why don't you sit in the yard for a while?"

He's a rather restless person, and he's been locked up in the hospital for so long, no wonder he's annoyed.

So she decided to let him sit in the yard and get some fresh air.

"Yes, my wife knows me best." Sure enough, he was very satisfied with her arrangements.

Su Nianxue looked back at him, "Gu Yanbai, did you hit your head too?"

"Oh, what exactly do you want to say?" He leaned back lazily in his chair and casually shook his leg.

"How else would he be able to spout such literary phrases? I bet he had a sudden epiphany after falling down." Su Nianxue covered her mouth and laughed.

“Is it so hard to say these things? It’s not that I don’t want to say them, it’s that I can’t.” Gu Yanbai glanced at her with dissatisfaction, as if she really thought he was illiterate.

"How come I didn't know that before?"

"There are many things you don't know."

"For example? What else don't I know?" She sat down next to him, looking at him with great interest.

He beckoned to her, and when she came closer, he said, "A man has to keep some cards up his sleeve. How can I tell you everything?"

If I don't let you get it right every time you touch it, what's the point of me working here?

He raised his head slightly, a hint of mockery in his eyes.

"Oh, so you dare to tease me?" She quickly reached out her finger and gently scratched his uninjured armpit.

Gu Yanbai immediately grabbed the mischievous little hand and chuckled twice, "Alright, I'll tell you!"

I may not have had much formal education, but your late father-in-law was a true intellectual.

There's a box of books in that side room. What's so strange about me knowing a few lines of classical literature?"

"Oh, right, how come I didn't think of that?" Su Nianxue smiled, realizing how silly she had been.

When they first got married, Yanliu mentioned that her father was a cultured man.

As the two were talking, the old man appeared at the gate carrying a chicken.

Upon seeing him, Gu Yanbai immediately stood up from the chair in a panic, covered his arm, and turned to run into the house.

"Stop! Why are you running? Have you seen a ghost?" The old man rolled his eyes and took a few big strides to stand in front of him.

Gu Yanbai paused, turned around, and asked with some embarrassment, "Grandpa, why are you here?"

The old man walked up to him, examined his arm carefully, and then asked, "Did the doctor approve your discharge?"

Gu Yanbai nodded vigorously, "Yes, I'm almost fully recovered. He told me to just come back and take care of myself."

The old man sighed, "Knowing you're doing something worthwhile outside, I won't scold you today."

But Gu Yanbai, you have to remember this.

You have a heavy burden to bear now; you still have to support your family. You must protect your life well and not let it get lost easily.

"Grandpa, how did you know that I... am doing something legitimate?" Gu Yanbai asked cautiously.
