Gu Yanbai was shocked and immediately pulled his wife into his arms.
At the same time, he took a big step and darted out of the room, getting far away from the two people on the battlefield.
With two crutches tucked under his arm, Zhou Mingjie hopped and skipped quickly into the yard.

The whole set of movements was simply...smooth and fluid.
"Won't something bad happen if your parents do this?" He poked his head out and peeked into the room.
They both seem to be very considerate people, so why did this happen after just a few words?
No wonder Zhou Mingjie never mentions his parents.
They had always wondered why he, a city dweller, would choose to live alone in the countryside.
"No. We've been fighting for decades; if something was going to happen, it would have happened long ago." Zhou Mingjie casually pulled out a cigarette case. "Want one?"
Gu Yanbai waved his hand, "I've given it up."
"Have they always been like this?" Gu Yanbai asked.
"Yes, it's been like this as long as I can remember. We start fighting at the drop of a hat." He lit his cigarette, calmly exhaled a smoke ring, and didn't even glance at the room.
He seemed incredibly indifferent.
Now the two of them were completely at a loss for words.
The three of them found a spot in the corner of the courtyard and sat down, quietly listening to the clattering sounds of pots and pans falling to the ground inside the house.
There were also sounds of the elderly couple angrily arguing and blaming each other.
A short while later, Yang Hongxing returned with a basket slung over her shoulder.
As soon as I entered, I saw the three of them huddled in a corner, and there were even louder noises coming from inside the room.
She looked puzzled. "What's wrong with you all? And did a robber break into our house?"

Yang Hongxing was stunned for a moment before asking, "Wait, why are your dad and mom fighting in our house?"
"They said they came to see us, and then..." Zhou Mingjie couldn't find the right words to connect the two events.
He had informed his family when he got married, but his parents weren't home at the time, so they didn't come.
I guess I wanted to visit my daughter-in-law today, since we haven't met yet.
