Gu Yanbai was shocked and immediately pulled his wife into his arms.
At the same time, he took a big step and darted out of the room, getting far away from the two people on the battlefield.
With two crutches tucked under his arm, Zhou Mingjie hopped and skipped quickly into the yard.
Gu Yanbai...
Su Nianxue...
The whole set of movements was simply...smooth and fluid.
"Won't something bad happen if your parents do this?" He poked his head out and peeked into the room.
They both seem to be very considerate people, so why did this happen after just a few words?
No wonder Zhou Mingjie never mentions his parents.
They had always wondered why he, a city dweller, would choose to live alone in the countryside.
"No. We've been fighting for decades; if something was going to happen, it would have happened long ago." Zhou Mingjie casually pulled out a cigarette case. "Want one?"
Gu Yanbai waved his hand, "I've given it up."
"Have they always been like this?" Gu Yanbai asked.
"Yes, it's been like this as long as I can remember. We start fighting at the drop of a hat." He lit his cigarette, calmly exhaled a smoke ring, and didn't even glance at the room.
He seemed incredibly indifferent.
Now the two of them were completely at a loss for words.
The three of them found a spot in the corner of the courtyard and sat down, quietly listening to the clattering sounds of pots and pans falling to the ground inside the house.
There were also sounds of the elderly couple angrily arguing and blaming each other.
A short while later, Yang Hongxing returned with a basket slung over her shoulder.
As soon as I entered, I saw the three of them huddled in a corner, and there were even louder noises coming from inside the room.
She looked puzzled. "What's wrong with you all? And did a robber break into our house?"
Su Nianxue………
How should I put it?
The robbers she was talking about were actually her parents-in-law, whom she had never met.
Moreover, the elderly couple were having a good time when this welcoming gift was... well, let's just say it's not quite right.
Seeing that they all kept their mouths tightly shut, none of them seemed inclined to explain anything to her.
She lifted her leg to walk into the house. She had never seen anyone run into someone's house and cause trouble, driving the host out of the house.
She grabbed the large broom used for sweeping the yard and was about to chase the people out of the house.
Su Nianxue quickly pulled her back, "Don't go, it's dangerous inside."
Seeing her confusion, Zhou Mingjie calmly said, "The people inside are... my dad and my mom."
Yang Hongxing was stunned for a moment before asking, "Wait, why are your dad and mom fighting in our house?"
"They said they came to see us, and then..." Zhou Mingjie couldn't find the right words to connect the two events.
He had informed his family when he got married, but his parents weren't home at the time, so they didn't come.
I guess I wanted to visit my daughter-in-law today, since we haven't met yet.
However, to be honest, he was actually quite relieved when he learned that they weren't coming.
Regardless, it's a good day to get married, right?
If this happened at a wedding, he'd be utterly humiliated.
Yang Hongxing peeked through the crack in the door. Did the old couple really come to see them?
Who is a good person who starts a fight with their daughter-in-law on their first meeting?
However, she didn't dare get too close, fearing that the two of them might be too rough and hurt her as well.
They must have gotten tired of fighting, because the noise inside the house gradually subsided until it went completely silent.
The four men looked at each other in bewilderment. So, the battle was over?
Su Nianxue then realized that the scene seemed a bit awkward.
The couple came to visit someone's home today, so now that they've encountered this situation, should they leave or leave?
She looked at Gu Yanbai and asked him what they should do now.
He understood what she meant and whispered to Zhou Mingjie, "We'll head back now. You can handle it yourselves."
"Don't go, don't worry, they'll be gone soon." Zhou Mingjie's face was calm, but his words were very confident.
Yang Hongxing also held her arm tightly, "Nianxue, don't go, stay with me for a while, I'm a little nervous."
She already knew that the two people in the house were her parents-in-law.
She used to feel that Zhou Mingjie didn't value her, and that neither of his parents came to such a big event as their wedding.
She had sounded out his opinion on this matter, and he said that they would be more comfortable if they didn't come.
Hearing this, she was somewhat disappointed, thinking that perhaps he hadn't even informed his family.
Later, the two had been married for some time, but he never mentioned taking her to meet his parents.
She felt increasingly that he didn't care about her, and she was very disappointed.
She thought he probably never considered her his wife.
But given the current situation, she felt that not seeing each other... was actually quite good.
If they had pulled this stunt on her first visit, she really wouldn't have known what to do.
"Well, alright then." Seeing that they both insisted, she couldn't say anything more and could only endure the awkwardness and continue to stay with them.
Soon, the elderly couple came out of the main room one after the other.
Looking at the four pairs of eyes staring at them from the yard, they felt a little embarrassed.
It's their fault; they got so anxious and acted out of habit.
Now that I've vented my anger, I still feel a little embarrassed.
After glancing at Yang Hongxing standing next to Zhou Mingjie, Zhou's mother knew that this must be her daughter-in-law.
She forced a smile. "You must be Hongxing. Your father and I... actually... came to see you today."
