Chapter 15

Chapter 15

"Brother Wenyan, you're not going to interfere with even personal feelings like liking someone, are you?"

Sang Nian spoke frankly, his expression utterly innocent.

Hearing the banquet, he was speechless for a moment.

What Sang Nian said made no sense. It was Sang Nian's own business to like him and get close to him, and he shouldn't be bothered by it. He should stick to his principles and not let Sang Nian's actions sway his emotions.

Wen Yan's expression was unpredictable, and Sang Nian couldn't understand it for a moment. She just stood opposite him, staring blankly as the snowflakes fell on his hair and then melted into a small drop of water that dripped from the end of Wen Yan's hair.

The two were locked in a stalemate, while Wen Yan's car, parked on the side of the road, blocked the exit of the garage. Cars coming up behind couldn't get out, so they kept honking their horns, the sound echoing in the empty parking lot exit, making Sang Nian's ears hurt.

He raised his hand and rubbed his ear.

This can't go on. Perhaps convinced that Wen Yan wouldn't let him get in the car, Sang Nian took a half step back, turned her head to the side, and said dejectedly, "Since Brother Wen Yan is not available, then I won't bother you." As she spoke, she shrank her neck and buried her pale face in her scarf, leaving only her wet eyes showing.

Annoyed by the car horns, Wen Yan clicked his tongue impatiently. He glanced at Sang Nian and saw his eyes, which were both arrogant and pitiful, like those of a stray cat on the street. His heart skipped a beat, and he turned away expressionlessly.

The light in Sang Ning's eyes went out when Wen Yan turned around. He hid in his scarf and gave a self-deprecating laugh, then watched Wen Yan leave.

But the next second, Wen Yan's voice came from ahead, stiff and filled with undeniable impatience.

"Sang Nian, this is the last time, get in the car."

Without waiting for Sang Nian's reply, he opened the car door and got in. Sang Nian was slightly surprised. He chuckled softly, then quickly walked around to the other side of the car, opened the door, bowed to Wen Yan to thank him, and before Wen Yan could react, he quickly got in and closed the door.

He moved quickly, and only the moment he sat down did he realize that he had moved too much. A sharp pain shot through his left ankle again. Sang Nian bit his lip and stubbornly held back from crying out in pain.

Wen Yan kept his eyes straight ahead, only saying "Uncle Zhao, drive" to the person in the front seat, and then ignored Sang Nian, propping his head up with one hand and scrolling through his phone with the other.

They remained silent the entire way.

The car stopped briefly at a service station along the way, but Sang Nian didn't know that because he was sleeping soundly, his face hidden behind his large down jacket, with only his smooth forehead showing.

Wen Yan did not wake him.

By the time they arrived at the rented apartment building, it was already dark. The roads were slippery due to the snow, and even experienced drivers had to be extra careful, so the drive back took quite a while. As Sang Nian looked at the increasingly familiar scenery, a sense of loss welled up in his heart.

After this, getting close to Wen Yan again would be even more difficult. He hadn't intended to expose himself so quickly, but he hadn't kept it a secret either. He wanted Wen Yan to discover his little scheme quickly, but he didn't want Wen Yan to know.

He had imagined how Wen Yan would react when he found out he liked him, but so far, Wen Yan didn't seem to have much of a reaction.

This truly reflects his own words—that liking such private feelings is none of anyone else's business.

He naturally knew that compared to his older brother who had grown up with Wen Yan, he was probably just a vague childhood memory in Wen Yan's heart. Even the White Rabbit candy that Wen Yan had given him five years ago was thanks to Sang Ning.

Despite this, he still fell in love with Wen Yan. He didn't know when it started, but by then he realized it was beyond his control. So he compromised, stopped disobeying Sang Yu and Tao Wanru, and devoted himself entirely to his studies, hoping to become someone worthy of Wen Yan.

But on his first day back in the country, he learned that Wen Yan was about to get engaged to Sang Ning.

In that instant, Sang Nian struggled to breathe; he used almost all his strength to control himself and prevent himself from losing his composure in front of the Sang family. Then he saw Wen Yan and Sang Ning in the restaurant, chatting and laughing intimately.

His heart was practically bleeding.

He couldn't bring himself to congratulate them like everyone else; his first instinct was to snatch Wen Yan away.

Why is it that Sang Ning can always get what she wants so easily, while he always ends up like a clown no matter how hard he tries?

He is not convinced!

Moreover, this is something the Sang family owes him.

The car slowly came to a stop. Uncle Zhao glanced at the rearview mirror and said respectfully, "Young Master, we've arrived."

Wen Yan then rolled down the car window and looked outside. It was an old residential area he wasn't familiar with, but he had been there once before—the place where Sang Nian currently lived. He didn't speak, his two fingers lightly tapping on his knees, as if waiting for Sang Nian to leave tactfully.

But Sang Nian had no intention of leaving just like that. He had already confessed, and Wen Yan's reaction had really angered him. So it seemed a bit unreasonable not to do something else that would annoy Wen Yan.

So Sang Nian propped herself up on her hands and slowly moved her upper body toward Wen Yan. Wen Yan felt the breathing getting closer and closer to his ear. He turned his head and saw Sang Nian's face right in front of him.

A hint of surprise flashed in Sang Nian's eyes, but then, ignoring Wen Yan's reaction, she pressed her lips to Wen Yan's lips.

It felt cool and soft to the touch, and tasted wonderful. Sang Nian let out a soft moan of pleasure, then opened her mouth and bit Wen Yan's lips.

He half-opened his eyes, observing Wen Yan's expression, somewhat captivated by it.

Wen Yan almost instantly pulled his hand away and placed it on Sang Nian's shoulder, trying to push him away. But he was surprised to find that half of Sang Nian's body was pressing against him, and he couldn't break free for a moment, so he could only watch helplessly as Sang Nian kissed him.

A hint of anger flickered in Wen Yan's eyes. He pressed his lips tightly together, his eyes filled with a warning. Sang Nian saw it and understood it, but he ignored it and instead bit Wen Yan hard. Instantly, the taste of blood filled Sang Nian's mouth from where their lips met.

He sighed contentedly, then straightened up and stepped back before Wen Yan could fully rage. He put his hand to his mouth, and laughed even harder when he saw Wen Yan's pained expression. In a tender, lover's voice, he said, "A farewell kiss, Wen Yan-ge, tasted so good. I'll remember it for the rest of my life."

There was a sense of satisfaction mixed with a touch of melancholy.

After saying that, Sang Nian withdrew his hand, opened the car door, and jumped out immediately. As he closed the door, he bent down and stuck his head into the car, smiling as he said, "Thank you, Brother Wen Yan, for taking me home." After saying that, he closed the car door, took a few steps back, and waved to those inside.

Through the car window, Wen Yan couldn't hear what Sang Nian was saying, but he could make out two words from the shape of his lips.

"goodbye!"

Wen Yan's face was gloomy, his eyes seemed capable of tearing people to pieces. He clenched his fists and gritted his teeth as he squeezed out two words from his throat.

"Sang Nian!"

When Uncle Zhao first saw his young master being forcibly kissed, he hadn't even grasped the relationship between the two before hearing his young master's angry voice, and he involuntarily shrugged. He glanced at the person standing in the snow, grinning slyly, and silently erected a monument for both of them in his heart.

He knew too much. If the young master wanted to silence him... Uncle Zhao suddenly felt worried about losing his job. However, before he could explain, he only caught a glimpse of Wen Yan wiping his mouth hard with disgust. His already chapped lips were rubbed even more deeply by the violent wiping.

Wen Yan, his face almost dark, ordered Uncle Zhao to drive away quickly, his dislike for Sang Nian Nian growing even stronger.

So when he got home, he immediately called Sang Ning to discuss their New Year's Day travel plans.

Sang Nian watched the car's taillights disappear from sight before turning to go home. Before he even reached the top of the stairs, he felt a strong gust of wind behind him. As soon as he turned around, he was slapped across the face.

It was so heavy that he immediately tasted blood in his mouth, and his ears started ringing. In his dizziness, he leaned against the wall. Before he could even see who had hit him, another slap landed on the same spot.

Without holding back an inch, the pressure actually increased. Sang Nian vaguely caught a whiff of a sweet, familiar perfume, and immediately knew who it was.

He smiled, raised his hand to wipe the blood from the corner of his mouth, and took a few breaths.

"How dare you laugh?" A sharp voice entered his mind through his other ear. Gone was the gentle and quiet demeanor of the past. At this moment, Tao Wanru stood in front of him, panting heavily, looking quite like a shrew. It was hard to believe that she was the glamorous and famous painter on television.

Sang Nian laughed again, the sound so loud it surprised even himself. Leaning against the wall, he looked at the person behind Tao Wanru and asked casually, "Why can't I laugh?"

Tao Wanru never expected him to be so shameless. She raised her hand to slap him again, but Sang Yu stopped her. He pulled Tao Wanru away and said, "That's enough." Then he turned to Sang Nian and said, "Dad wants to see you." After saying that, he left without showing any mercy, pulling Tao Wanru away.

Tao Wanru refused, her voice still sharp, "Let go of me, Sang Yu! He actually seduced Wen Yan! If we hadn't come and happened to see it... Let go of me! I can't let him go back and hurt Ningning like this!"

Unable to break free, she gave up pleading with Sang Yu and instead began cursing Sang Nian: "I shouldn't have let you come back to the country, I shouldn't have let you live! I should have let you die abroad! Why did you have to steal the person your brother liked? You shameless scoundrel, you disgusting scum!"

The cursing continued, but Sang Nian ignored it. He zipped up his down jacket, which had been ripped open during the scuffle, and smiled at the two strange men who had appeared in front of him at some point, saying, "Excuse me, could you wait a moment? I have something else to do."

They looked at each other and then nodded.

Sang Nian slowly went upstairs, threw his luggage on the sofa, opened the TV cabinet, took out two cans of cat food and a small bag of cat food, and finally looked at the home he had only lived in for a week and sighed.

After going downstairs, he went to the green belt, shook the bag of cat food in his hand, and soon two stray cats came over.

"Hua Hua, Hui Hui." Sang Nian called them affectionately by their names, and after smelling the familiar scent, they were no longer afraid. Instead, they moved closer to Sang Nian and rubbed against his trouser leg.

Sang Nian opened the can of cat food and placed it in front of them. They meowed softly at Sang Nian, as if to say thank you, and then lowered their heads to eat heartily.

Sang Nian stroked their furry heads and said softly, "Sorry I'm late, you must be hungry."

"I have something to tell you guys. I kissed Wen Yan today, although it was one-sided and Wen Yan didn't react. But I'm still very happy. Aren't you happy for me too?"

The two cats munched on their cat food, ignoring Sang Nian. Sang Nian muttered "You little ingrates," then shook his head with a smile and said, "I need to talk to you about something. I probably won't be back for a while, so you two need to take good care of yourselves, just like you used to when I wasn't around, okay?"

The only response he received were the two voices behind him urging him to return to the Sang residence. Sang Nian's eyes flickered, and he sighed. He poured the cat food into an empty cat food can, then stood up and said to the two people following closely behind him, "Let's go."
