Chapter 35

Chapter 35

Seeing Sang Nian come out, Wen Yan immediately stubbed out his cigarette and opened the window to let in some fresh air. Sang Nian walked towards him step by step, and Wen Yan's heart trembled with each step.

When Wen Yan saw that Sang Nian was barefoot, he frowned imperceptibly.

Why aren't you wearing shoes?

He asked about the banquet.

He only realized how hoarse his voice was when he spoke.

Sang Nian stammered softly, "I, I didn't notice..."

Wen Yan walked past him into the bedroom, took the slippers, and then bent down to put them on for Sang Nian.

Sang Nian stared blankly at Wen Yan's series of actions, almost forgetting to react. It wasn't until Wen Yan's cool hand grasped his foot that he was startled and shrank back slightly.

"I'll do it myself."

Wen Yan said forcefully, "It's okay, I'll do it." As he spoke, he withdrew his hand and rubbed it until his palms were warm before grabbing Sang Nian's fair feet and putting slippers on him.

It was something Sang Nian could easily do with a simple step, but Wen Yan made it so complicated. Yet Sang Nian didn't find it troublesome at all; instead, she felt incredibly sweet inside.

He has received unprecedented care at Wen Yan's place these past few days.

Are you hungry?

After putting on his shoes, Wen Yan stood up, put his arm around Sang Nian's shoulder, and asked him a question.

"I've cooked dinner, would you like some?"

Sang Nian's eyes widened instantly, glistening with inexplicable tears. He nodded vigorously.

Wen Yan chuckled and led him to the restaurant.

Several exquisite plates were set on the table, each covered with a lid. After Sang Nian sat down, Wen Yan opened the lids, and Sang Nian smelled a rich aroma.

"It smells so good."

Sang Nian was somewhat surprised, not expecting Wen Yan's cooking skills to be so good.

Wen Yan seemed pleased with those two words, a smile playing on her lips. She then went to the kitchen to serve Sang Nian a bowl of plain porridge. Under the lamplight, the porridge looked clear and inviting.

"Brother Wenyan can actually cook."

Sang Nian sighed, but then he thought of something, and his smile immediately froze on his lips.

Seeing this, Wen Yan sighed almost inaudibly, then said to Sang Nian, "Sang Nian, there is no one else between you and me now. I admit that I treated you badly before, and I misunderstood you because of certain people and things, but I hope that from now on, you can try to open your heart to me, okay?"

Sang Nian blinked, seemingly unable to understand Wen Yan's words for a moment. Wen Yan just looked at him and waited for a long time until he saw Sang Nian nod slightly before he smiled.

After dinner, Sang Nian sat on the sofa and watched TV. There wasn't anything interesting to watch, but he couldn't sleep, and he had nothing else to do.

After Wen Yan brought him a plate of fruit, he intended to watch TV with Sang Nian. He glanced at his phone after it beeped, apologized to Sang Nian, and went to his study.

He had been in the study for half an hour.

Sang Nian's gaze kept darting back and forth between the study door and the television screen. He didn't pay any attention to what was on TV; his mind was entirely focused on Wen Yan.

He wasn't sure if it was just his imagination, but he felt that Wen Yan wasn't in a good mood just now, and even his face had become heavy.

Half an hour later, halfway through an episode of a variety show, Wen Yan finally opened the door to his study.

Sang Nian initially tried to pretend not to care, but when she saw Wen Yan's tired expression, she couldn't help but ask, "What happened, Brother Wen Yan? You look..."

Before Sang Nian could finish speaking, Wen Yan gave her a tight hug.

The pungent smell of smoke hit him in the face, and Sang Nian couldn't help but choke.

"I'm sorry." Wen Yan released Sang Nian, creating some distance between them, then rubbed his temples and said, "It's nothing serious, Nian Nian, don't worry."

Year after year?

Sang Nian was stunned for a moment, but when she came to her senses, her face was already flushed.

Upon seeing this, Wen Yan's Adam's apple bobbed a few times. Then he took a deep breath and said to Sang Nian, "I'm going to take a shower first, and later..." He paused, "Never mind, you've slept all day, you probably can't sleep now anyway. Is there anything you want to do, Nian Nian?"

Sang Nian shook her head, looked up at Wen Yan, and then bit her lip and said, "Brother Wen Yan looks very tired."

He had never seen Wen Yan so exhausted. Even when he was trying to bring Liu Jinyuan to justice and return to the Wen Group after Sang Ning's death, he was never this tired.

"Is Niannian showing concern for me?"

Wen Yan asked with a smile.

Sang Nian nodded, "Yes, I'm worried about Brother Wenyan, so I don't want to do anything. Brother Wenyan can rest after he takes a shower. I can stay with him..."

As he finished speaking, Sang Nian's voice grew softer and softer, almost inaudible. But Wen Yan knew what he was saying, so he grinned and ruffled Sang Nian's hair with his large hand, saying, "Then I won't stand on ceremony. Since Nian Nian is worried about me, she can sleep with me."

"good."

Although Sang Nian initially agreed to go home with Wen Yan to get revenge, his feelings for Wen Yan were genuine. Moreover, after spending the last few days together, he realized that Wen Yan's commitment to him wasn't just empty talk; it came from the bottom of his heart.

Or rather, he sensed a slight liking for Wen Yan after that night. In fact, he had also wondered why, after Tao Youmin drugged him, Wen Yan didn't go to the hospital or look for Xu Muze, but instead came to his room.

Sang Nian was certain that Wen Yan had come to see him. As for the reason, he initially couldn't believe it, but now he had no choice but to believe it.

So before Wen Yan turned to go into the bathroom, Sang Nian asked, "If Sang Ning had been there that night, would Brother Wen Yan have gone to find her?"

This was his last question, and after asking it, Sang Nian felt completely refreshed. The wait for Wen Yan's answer was long, so long that he could even hear Wen Yan's breathing.

Wen Yan stood not far from Sang Nian, one hand on the doorknob and the other in his pocket. He looked at Sang Nian curled up on the sofa and slowly frowned.

He had never thought about this question. The reason he went to see Sang Nian was entirely because he subconsciously had feelings for her and wanted to despicably take advantage of her affections.

He regretted it afterward, but he felt even more sorry for Sang Nian.

He had never truly understood Sang Nian, and now he wanted to get to know him and get closer to him, but he discovered that there had always been a Sang Ning between him and Sang Nian.

He could distinguish between the two of them, he always had, and he had never considered Sang Nian as a substitute for Sang Ning. As for Sang Ning, he only had the affection he had for her since childhood, and he only agreed to marry her because she was sick and he didn't want to refuse her and hurt her too much.

But at that time, he hadn't met Sang Nian yet. When Sang Nian returned to the Sang family, everything changed.

Sang Ning had become a stranger to him.

When he saw the medical records of Sang Ning that his assistant sent him, he couldn't imagine how he had such a vicious mind to plot against Sang Nian after Sang Ning's illness relapsed.

She plotted against her twin brother, who had been wandering for eleven years.

She was even willing to risk her own life to make everyone hate Sang Nian.

He hadn't fully grasped the details of the matter, and logically he shouldn't have suspected Sang Ning like this, but he couldn't control himself. He thought about what Sang Nian's parents and the Tao siblings had done, and he had no reason not to suspect Sang Ning.

Upon hearing Sang Nian's question, Wen Yan almost immediately retorted.

"No, I won't go to Sang Ning."

He didn't have that kind of love for Sang Ning.

"I believe in Brother Wenyan."

Sang Nian smiled sweetly.

While Wen Yan was taking a shower, Sang Nian was curled up on the sofa alone, his phone ringing repeatedly on the coffee table. Sang Nian picked it up and saw that Ye Shu had called and texted him many times. After reading them all, he replied to Ye Shu, "I'm at Wen Yan's house, I'm fine, don't worry."

The moment he put his phone down, it rang again. He picked it up and saw it was Liu Wenyuan.

Liu Wenyuan called him nearly two hundred times after that day.

Sang Nian bit her lip and pressed the answer button.

"Sang Nian? Thank goodness you finally answered the phone. Where are you now? Are you alright? Has Wen Yan done anything to you? Don't worry, Sang Nian, I will protect you. You don't need to be afraid of Wen Yan, you..."

Before he could finish speaking, Sang Nian interrupted him: "I'm fine. I'm at Brother Wen Yan's house now. And..." He glanced towards the bathroom, his eyes filled with tenderness, "I'm with Brother Wen Yan now." He cut the Gordian knot, severing Liu Wenyuan's feelings for him directly.

"How could this be!"

Liu Wenyuan exclaimed on the other end of the phone, "It must be Wen Yan who forced you, right? Sang Nian, don't trust Wen Yan. He's definitely taking revenge on you, revenge for everything you did to Sang Ning. Only I am truly good to you, Sang Nian. Only I am the only one who has always stood behind you. You can't be with Wen Yan!"

The roar reached Sang Nian's ears through the phone screen. Sang Nian impatiently moved the phone away a little, and then his hand suddenly felt light, and the phone was in Wen Yan's hand in the blink of an eye.

Wen Yan, with a towel wrapped around his lower body and water still dripping from his upper body, gripped his phone and said coldly, "Liu Wenyuan, there are some things I'll come to you about sooner or later. You don't need to bother me and Niannian." After saying that, he hung up the phone, and still not satisfied, he turned it off.

"There's no need to answer his call next time."

Sang Nian looked up at Wen Yan, revealing his clear, bright eyes.

"Why?" he asked, pretending not to understand.

Wen Yan ruffled his hair, then suddenly leaned closer, her face pressed against his, and said, "Because I get jealous."

He was furious at the thought that Liu Wenyuan had been clinging to Sang Nian like a fly for the past year, even sending people to follow her. But he was even angrier at himself, because he was the one who had provided this opportunity.

But he was extremely grateful to Liu Wenyuan. If Liu hadn't sent someone to follow Sang Nian, how could he have saved Sang Nian from committing suicide in the cemetery so quickly?

Thinking of this, Wen Yan sighed. He took Sang Nian's hand, pressed it to his chest, and stared into her eyes, saying, "Can you feel it, Nian Nian?"

Sang Nian curled his fingers and nodded.

He could feel Wen Yan's rapid heartbeat right beneath his palm, through his smooth, warm skin.

Seeing how well-behaved he was, Wen Yan couldn't resist any longer. He wrapped his arms around Sang Nian's waist, pulled him into his embrace, and kissed Sang Nian's lips.

Sang Nian let out a soft moan, and Wen Yan's tongue took the opportunity to slip into Sang Nian's mouth, stealing the sweetness left after he had just finished eating the fruit.

The atmosphere between them heated up, and Sang Nian was almost breathless from the kisses. He twisted his body, reaching out to rest his hand on Wen Yan's shoulder, but accidentally touched the hard, hot object beneath the bath towel...

Sang Nian instantly turned red from head to tail, just like a cooked lobster.

Wen Yan groaned, released Sang Nian's lips, then rested his head on Sang Nian's shoulder, took a few quick breaths, and said in a suppressed voice, "I'll let you go today."

Before Sang Nian could react, she saw Wen Yan rush back into the bathroom.

He heard the sound of water coming from the bathroom again, then rubbed his flushed face and chuckled softly.
