I forced myself not to focus too much on the box, and I couldn't let Lin Jindong notice anything that I wanted to leave, so I just stared at him blankly, "How did you know..."

He immediately understood what I meant by that sentence: "The address I got from the driver."

I nodded slowly.

When Lin Jindong saw that my attitude wasn't as excited as he had expected, or rather, that I behaved completely differently from the women who pursued him—even though we had slept together, I neither made a fuss about him taking responsibility nor showed any interest in his physique—the emotion in his eyes suddenly turned icy. "Are you playing me?"

Unable to look him in the eye, I asked him blankly, "I was just... playing around with you out of spite, and you were playing me too, weren't you?"

This issue made Lin Jindong even angrier.

I could clearly see how the smile on his lips cooled down in an instant.

He was a man with a strong, aggressive gaze, and he was very domineering and intimidating from the outside in. His cold gaze was so chilling that it sent shivers down people's spines.

He reached out his hand, and I was about to dodge, but Lin Jindong impatiently pulled me to his side.

Perhaps because my resistance was a bit too obvious, he softened his grip and lowered his voice: "Come with me, there's a coffee shop near your house."

My gaze gently fell upon the box in the corner.

There are still six hours until the train arrives, which should be enough time for me to deal with him.

I followed Lin Jindong very obediently. The snow on the steps had melted into ice overnight, making it a bit slippery underfoot.

Seeing that I was walking cautiously, Lin Jindong extended his hand, which was wearing a black leather glove, toward me.

The moment my hand touched him, I gasped. I felt like I was floating, and instinctively I clung to his neck to keep my balance.

This scene reminded me of last night, when he held me like this, pinning me to the sofa, but he didn't know where to start, so he just moved up and down.

"Never...before?" I was stunned and couldn't help but laugh, even more unexpectedly than when Ye Fenglin slithered out in less than two minutes. However, the man clearly misinterpreted my laughter.

He used that large knife, like a cruel executioner, to make me pay the price for more than two hours.

"What are you laughing at?" Lin Jindong suddenly interrupted me.

He lifted me down the steps, and I quickly looked around. Luckily, none of the neighbors were around. I patted his shoulder and said, "Put me down, put me down."

As soon as my feet touched the ground, Lin Jindong pressed me again, "I'm asking you a question, what are you thinking?"

I refused to answer and pushed open the door to the coffee shop first.

It was very cold, and most of the customers who came here were just buying a drink to keep warm. Lin Jindong glanced around and saw that there was only one empty seat near the window.

He ordered two cups of hot cocoa and had me sit down. He leaned against the wall, and in the light, his handsome face had sharp, striking features.

"What exactly... do you want?" I held the cup, and I found it hard to swallow this warm chocolate drink that I usually love.

I thought for a moment and then said to him, "That night, you... you should pretend nothing happened. I... I won't tell anyone."

My subtext was quite clear. I knew he was only targeting me out of jealousy of a pampered young master like Ye Fenglin. By rejecting him and instead pursuing Ye Fenglin relentlessly, I successfully piqued his interest. @Unlimited great articles, all at Literary City

“Xiao Fu, you probably don’t know this, but sometimes, when a man and a woman have secrets that no one else knows, it can actually deepen their bond.” Lin Jindong’s lips curved into a smile as he held the paper cup in his hand and said to me, “I think we can start a normal relationship.”

He wants to be my boyfriend? My eyes widened.

This person is absolutely bizarre.

In his eyes, I am the kind of woman who clings to the powerful and wealthy... Yet he is willing to "sacrifice himself for righteousness." Does he think he is enough to save me and control me?

“I’d like to talk to you about our relationship. First, let me introduce myself. I’m 27 years old, 190cm tall, with measurements of 105-77. I currently work in the state attorney general’s office, mainly responsible for investigating and prosecuting criminal offenses that violate federal law within the Empire State. I’m considering becoming a federal prosecutor.”

Lin Jindong dominated our conversation and was very assertive. Seeing that he was determined to "take responsibility" for me, I bit my lip slightly.

How can I break his rhythm? I know that he is like a prosecutor who is in complete control in court right now. If I refute him, he will immediately pick out one, two, or three points to target me, and always control the pace of our conversation.

"If you want to be my... boyfriend, I'll spend a lot of money." I went along with him and told him, "I want pretty dresses and bags that I like. Can you afford them?"

A hint of surprise appeared on Lin Jindong's handsome face, but he didn't seem offended at all. He smiled and said, "No matter how much Ye Fenglin offered you, I could do it."

Seeing that he was gradually following my lead in the conversation, I breathed a sigh of relief. I continued to look at him hesitantly, "But, I've already been played with by Ye Fenglin. Will you be too?"

Without hesitation, he told me definitively, "I am different from him."

I gripped the cup tighter in my hand, and the hot cocoa even spilled onto the back of my hand, immediately burning a red mark. In pain, I instinctively tried to drop the cup, but Lin Jindong reacted quickly, bending slightly to catch it as it fell from my hand, and placed it on the table with his.

"I... I still need to go to the supermarket." I found an excuse to get away. "It looks like it's going to snow in a few days, so I need to buy some things in advance and put them in the refrigerator."

"Wait a minute, I'll go with you." Lin Jindong grabbed my wrist again. He frowned and stared at the burn mark on my wrist. He observed it for a while, and after confirming that it was okay, he tightened his grip.

I was incredibly anxious, but I didn't dare show it, so I just nodded at him.

Like Xie Yong, Lin Jindong looked down on the Walmart near my home and instead took me to that extremely expensive high-end supermarket. In addition to buying expensive beef, vegetables, and seafood, we also bought some desserts and freshly squeezed juices that I liked.

He carried the food back to the apartment, and despite my reluctance, I opened the apartment door.

Fortunately, I put everything Aunt Yu sent in the refrigerator, and stuffed all the boxes under the cabinet. He looked at the dusty apartment and raised an eyebrow, "So dirty."

“Before, I… lived with Ye Zi.”

"Let me help you clean up." Lin Jindong took off his coat. Seeing that he intended to stay here, I widened my eyes and became more and more flustered. He turned around and was rolling up the cuffs of his shirt. Seeing my anxious and uneasy appearance, his eyes deepened slightly.

Lin Jindong walked up to me and sat down beside me.

His Adam's apple bobbed, and after a long silence he spoke, "That night, I was too rough. Does it still hurt?"

I lowered my eyes slightly. Although I didn't want to take advantage of his goodwill towards me, it was the only thing I could do at that moment. I raised my hand and touched his face. He took my hand in response, and I tried to appear even gentler. "Yes, a little... you're a bit big."

He chuckled, guiding my fingers to gently stroke his cheek. His voice was low, somewhat hoarse, and unspoken: "Was it my fault?"

My softening attitude seemed to please him. I just wanted to get rid of him, so I had no choice but to cooperate. I thought for a moment, then took the initiative to hug his neck tightly and sink into his arms. "I... the first time I met you, you were very strong. I have never seen you treat me so gently."

"Do you know that I wanted to sleep with you the first time I saw you?" he asked me back.

I was taken aback by the blunt question, but I still nodded honestly. I knew my appearance easily attracted the opposite sex, and I vaguely sensed that when Lin Jindong approached me.

At that time, I thought he was a charming and capable social elite, and also Lin Zhi'en's brother, so I suppressed these strange feelings.

I tilted my head back, kissed his thin lips, and whispered to him, "I didn't sleep all night yesterday, please don't bother me, let me get some sleep, okay?"

"I'll stay with you." His eyes sparkled with amusement.

I closed my eyes.

Lin Jindong carried me back to the bedroom and gently closed the door. I heard him lean close to my ear and say, "I will take care of your child with Ye Fenglin as he grows up. I won't let him be like me. He... is my own child."

Outside the door, I could hear faint cleaning sounds. Half an hour later, I keenly caught the sound of a car starting up. I quickly opened my eyes, got out of bed, and found the room spotless. I quietly lifted the curtains and watched the dark gray Land Rover drive further and further away before I dared to go out.

In such terrible weather, buses and ferries stopped running, and trains, which used to run every twenty minutes, were reduced to twice a day.

Pennsylvania Station was packed with people, but thanks to the large glass dome overhead, it didn't feel oppressive.

I took the escalator down to board the train, and even after I was seated in the carriage, my breathing remained rapid and tense. I suspiciously eyed everyone who passed by, trying my best to pull my hat down so no one would notice.

Stepping out of the station, the tranquil and peaceful life of the small town seemed to wash over you. The streets were wide and clean, and the snow on the streets had been mostly cleared away. All the town's many shops were closed due to the blizzard, and the Gothic buildings of New Jersey University in the distance seemed to be hidden in the snow, looking sacred and beautiful.

I carried my suitcase and walked across the town square.

The colorful streamers on the ground and the banners still in place indicated that a celebration had recently taken place here. I quickened my pace and headed towards the flower shop. The wind chimes at the entrance tinkled softly, and I finally heard a familiar voice, "Welcome."

I spotted the figure busy behind the counter at a glance.

Yu Xu was dressed comfortably in a thick black sweater. He was trimming the flower branches in the bucket, his head down, and didn't see me.

He looked very thin and frail. He had just recovered from a serious illness and his body was not yet fully healed. His face was also slightly pale and sickly. However, his always gentle and handsome face always had a faint smile on it, which made people feel friendly and at ease.

My heart skipped a beat, my hands and feet went numb, and I blinked, staring blankly at the man who was only a few meters away from me.

Perhaps the long silence made him feel a little strange, he looked up, "Sorry, because of the snow, there aren't many kinds of flowers available, but it will be fine in a few days... Xiao Fu?"

For two whole months, I heard Yu Xu call my name again. @Unlimited great articles, all at Literary City

A slight stinging sensation filled my chest, and an indescribable bitterness and the pain of betraying him made me lower my head. Tears flowed out without warning. At that moment, I even had the thought, "How can I, who am so terrible, be worthy of him?" and turned to leave.

"Xiao Fu," Yu Xu called my name gently.

I stood there, too afraid to move. Hearing footsteps behind me, I worried about him and couldn't help but turn around.

Outside the window, the last rays of the setting sun shone on his face. Yu Xu's features were not as striking as those of the other men, but his eyelashes were long, thick, and jet black, and when they drooped slightly, they always gave off a gentle and patient feeling.

I couldn't help but throw myself into his arms, but stopped abruptly halfway through opening my mouth.

How do I explain this to him?

She broke up with him for no reason, disappeared for so long, and then suddenly reappeared, disturbing his peaceful life...

"I'm...sorry..." My hands and feet were ice cold, and I couldn't make a normal sound at all. I wanted to explain to him using sign language, but I didn't want to leave Yu Xu's embrace. In this conflicted state of mind, I broke down and cried so hard that I could hardly breathe.

"Xiao Fu, don't be afraid." Yu Xu gently touched my back to comfort me.

He was very careful, as if he would immediately stop and stop provoking me if I dodged.

"Yu Xu, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry..." My vision was already blurred with tears. I wanted to slow my breathing and calm down, but I couldn't control myself at all. All I could do was cry.

He paused for only a moment, then hugged me tightly, gently and joyfully comforting me: "Xiao Fu, you can talk now."

"Don't be afraid, I know what you want to say, and don't cry. I have never blamed you. I know everything you have done, and you have never done anything wrong."

We hugged quietly. When Yu Xu saw that I had calmed down a bit, he put me down, still carefully and gently.

Yu Xu hung a "Temporarily Closed" sign outside the door and took me home. Sitting on the bed, I couldn't help but tell him everything that had been going on for the past few months, including secrets I had kept hidden in my heart.

I was once the child of a psychologist hired by the Jiang family. Initially, Jiang Mingzhuo and I were each other's first love. However, when his brother Jiang Zhao returned to China, my mother became involved with Mr. Jiang. For my mother's sake, I had to seek help from Jiang Zhao, which eventually led to a very abnormal relationship.

After realizing they had lost interest in me, I ran away, which is how I met Yu Xu.

I had never told him these things before.

Yu Xu remained silent for a long time, and I felt somewhat apprehensive until he reached out and cupped my face, placed a very light kiss on my forehead, and held me in his arms.

He didn't speak, but I could sense his pain from the way he held me tightly. He said, "Xiao Fu, when I was in the hospital, I could occasionally hear your voice. I thought it was a hallucination or a nightmare. In the dream, I watched helplessly as you were taken away by bad people, but I couldn't protect you. I'm the one who should apologize."

"Yu Xu, no, it's my fault that you're in this situation..."

“I can only blame myself. If I hadn’t stood up for myself back then… I should have listened to you. I shouldn’t have gone to that party.” Yu Xu’s face was filled with self-reproach, and his brows were slightly furrowed. “If it weren’t for you, I would have died of a massive hemorrhage in the hospital long ago. I know that it was your idea to send me back to my hometown.”

I looked at him with teary eyes. "Yu Xu, I... I want to run away."

“Xiao Fu, if it’s just the two of us, we really can’t resist, but I can take you away. We can go to California. There are good jobs in San Francisco or California. I can find a job. Auntie… if she’s willing, she can come with us. If she’s not willing, we’ll come to see her every holiday after things calm down.”

I hesitated, my eyelashes trembling slightly. "But, if you're with me, you'll be in danger."

“Xiao Fu, I will never leave you,” Yu Xu said.

As if I had grasped the most precious treasure in the world, Yu Xu tightened his grip on my hand. His fingertips touched mine, and a firm force flowed through my body. Like a small animal sensing and perceiving a signal, I slowly hugged Yu Xu tighter, seeking his comfort in his arms.

“You can talk to me about anything, Xiao Fu. I don’t want you to bear this alone. If you don’t want to talk about it, I won’t force you. It’s just… I hope I can be someone you can trust. From the first day I met you, I liked you. I want to protect you and don’t want you to cry anymore.” Yu Xu said to me in a low voice. I felt as if I had come back to life, and my unstoppable sobs grew softer and softer.

Yu Xu acknowledges that I am a person, not an object that can be arbitrarily replaced.

He always thinks of me first, then himself. He respects all my decisions and never forces me to do anything I don't like...

I slowly closed my eyes in Yu Xu's arms. After my emotions calmed down, I was able to look at him. "The wound..."

Yu Xu smiled and said, "It's alright, I'm much better now."

I gently lifted his sweater, revealing a bandage wrapped around his abdomen, with scabs faintly visible. Yu Xu, afraid of startling me, simply held me tighter. "I woke up a few days after arriving at the hospital here. The doctor said I'm recovering very well. My previous coma was due to excessive blood loss, but I slept for too long and need to recover slowly."

I was relieved after hearing Yu Xu's words.

Downstairs, the auntie also returned from the neighbor's house. When she saw me, instead of scolding me, she was particularly distressed. "Xiao Fu, is your internship very tiring? You've lost so much weight."

I shook my head, and Yu Xu also spoke up in front of Auntie: "Xiao Fu received the gift you sent and wanted to eat the dinner you made, so she couldn't wait to come back. She has to go back tomorrow, otherwise she won't be able to finish her internship."

Auntie touched my face. "Okay, it's not far from the Imperial State. You can come back anytime. Xiao Fu, don't be too busy. I'm so worried about you because you're so busy you can't even answer the phone. You're not good with words, I'm really afraid something will happen to you..."

After finishing my meal and taking a shower, I returned to the bedroom. Yu Xu was helping me pack my suitcase. Suddenly, I felt an urge and snuggled closer to him. Yu Xu looked at me, his Adam's apple bobbing slightly. I leaned in and gently pulled my dress down...

Yu Xu paused slightly in his movements. I told him, "I'll do it." I pushed him away, lifted his hand, and kissed him while letting him touch his full breasts, which smelled of the same shower gel as his body. Yu Xu was slightly out of breath.

He reminded me, "Xiao Fu, there are no condoms at home..."

I raised my finger and pressed it against his lips. "If you go out now, your aunt will definitely ask you where you're going..."

Yu Xu smiled, looked up and kissed me, trying his best to satisfy me. As he held me, the cool scent emanating from him grew stronger amidst the crashing of the planes. In an instant, I opened my eyes abruptly. Xiong Yong's heat made me tremble all over, drawing me closer to him.

"I'm sorry, Xiao Fu... I didn't mean to, I lost control for a moment." Yu Xu hugged me tightly, and amidst my disordered breathing, he lowered his eyes. My brain was still lacking oxygen, because I had drunk too much, my eyes were a little blurry, and I was completely exhausted, but I wasn't afraid, and I let him kiss my face.

The night passed, and I bought a ticket for noon. Yu Xu and my aunt took me to the station and saw me off.

My relationship with Yu Xu cannot be made public. Last night, we discussed what to do next. Yu Xu will continue to maintain the status quo of "no further contact after the breakup" until I successfully escape. He will then come to California to find me after graduation.

It was already afternoon when I returned to the Empire State. The square was right outside the station, and skyscrapers dotted the distance, their lights constantly twinkling. I looked down and lightly swiped my finger across the screen of my phone to make a call.

A particularly cold and arrogant voice came from the other end of the line, "It's me."

I took a deep breath.

Although there was no sound, I knew Jiang Zhao was listening.

"What do you want me to do by making this call?" Jiang Zhao asked me.

His voice seemed to surge with excitement, adoration, madness, and a complex mix of emotions, and he was certain that I would continue speaking.

My throat tightened slightly, and even the knuckles holding the phone trembled.

“I’ll be waiting for you at the apartment in Jiangmingzhuo West District.” I ordered him, “Come after 10 p.m..”

He paused for a long time, then said, "Jiang Fu, you've lied to me so many times already. This is your last chance."

I hung up the phone.

I hailed a taxi on the street and headed to the West District apartment. The apartment manager was already quite familiar with me; he smiled and said, "Miss Jiang, you're back? It's a pity that Young Master Ye hasn't been home these past few days."

"Could you please contact Jiang Mingzhuo and tell him I want to see him?"

The butler was taken aback.

I spoke softly, "Thank you for your help."

Although my voice was soft and weak, my tone left him no room to refuse. After hesitating for a while, he still followed my instructions and dialed the internal phone. After saying something on the other end, the butler hummed in response, and the entire hall fell silent again.

I took the private elevator and continued upwards.

Ye Fenglin's apartment is in the middle of this building, while Xie Yong's is on the top floor. Jiang Mingzhuo happened to buy a place between the two of them, which explains why he knows so much about the things between me and these two men.

I gave a wry smile. Jiang Mingzhuo probably saw everything at the pool that day. He just used a little trick to get rid of the man who was flirting with me in the pool.

"..." The door had just opened when I paused.

What made me stop was not the apartment's exquisitely luxurious decor, but a smooth, silky violin melody. It slowly entered my ears, like gentle waves on the sea, or beautiful flowers swaying in the wind in a garden—it was incredibly beautiful.

I could tell that this was the piece Jiang Mingzhuo was practicing when we first met.

Jiang Mingzhuo is probably the smartest man in this "game". For him, music, mathematics, human nature... things that are extremely difficult for ordinary people to control, he plays with ease and casualness, as if they were numbers in the palm of his hand.

He went through layers of deception, and even when he actually took action, he didn't do it himself. He spent countless efforts and mobilized countless people, all to keep me firmly under his control in his world.

"Meow..." At my feet, a kitten with a loose light pink ribbon bow around its neck rubbed affectionately against my leg.

I looked down and saw that it was no longer the wretched stray it had been on the streets. Instead, it had glossy fur, beautiful, jewel-like eyes, and a graceful, elegant physique, like a beautiful purebred cat.

Does it still remember the stray cat outside? I gently reached out my hand, and the kitten seemed to have already developed a habitual action. It obediently came over and placed itself in my palm without the slightest resistance.

...like me.

I picked up the kitten, and as the elegant and beautiful violin music played, I looked around the room.

To the right of the entrance hall, a beautiful rooftop garden is separated by a glass door.

Entering the living room through the off-white corridor, the high ceiling and sunken design make the space look particularly spacious. The black spiral staircase, the water ripple lamps hanging overhead, and the metallic elements perfectly showcase the owner's wealth and superb aesthetic taste.

The room is equipped with a smart home system and a smart touchscreen. The lights turn on automatically wherever I go, and there are even cherry blossoms next to the stairs, adding a touch of romance.

I went up the stairs and arrived at the study.

Unlike downstairs, the overall tone here is darker, and above the fireplace hangs an abstract painting that feels very oppressive.

There was even a cat here, a slender and long Siamese cat.

It was in front of the desk. When it saw me coming, it nimbly jumped down and anxiously circled around me.

I could tell that it cared about the little white cat in my arms, so I quickly put it down. The little white cat rubbed against the Siamese cat affectionately, and the two cats curled up on the carpet outside the door.

“They’re just like us, aren’t they?” Jiang Mingzhuo put down his violin and smiled, still as refined and elegant as ever.

He was born with exceptionally handsome features, enough to dispel everyone's wariness with his smile.

I was once captivated by this perfect face, but now, seeing it, I'm more shocked than amazed.

"Xiao Fu, I knew you would come looking for me. You already found out it was me, yet you've managed to endure it for so long." Jiang Mingzhuo smiled slightly, his expression softening considerably. "You've been out there playing for so long and suffered so much; you must be very tired."

Jiang Mingzhuo gently assured me, "Xiao Fu, I was wrong. I shouldn't have locked you in the villa. I promise you, I won't interfere in your life. You can continue to attend classes with your classmates, work part-time, and volunteer at various art galleries."

“Xiao Fu, I know you ran away because my brother was too cruel to you. I’ve seen how hard you’ve worked these past three years, but that poor man’s apartment isn’t suitable for you. I worry about you every day whether you’ll be robbed or something bad will happen to you. The night Ye Fenglin had his accident, I almost lost control and killed him.”

Jiang Mingzhuo's smile was dazzling and perfect. My heart skipped a beat, and I was plunged into a jumble of chaotic speculations.

My paintings at school always seem to sell for no apparent reason. Is that his doing?

My teacher always took good care of me; I even had my own private art studio…

A belated shiver crept up my spine.

The surveillance network Jiang Mingzhuo has set up is perhaps... more extensive than I imagined.

At this moment, Jiang Mingzhuo slowly moved closer to me.

He was tall, and a shadow loomed over him almost instantly, the oppressive feeling making me shudder slightly.

I stubbornly refused to back down, but Jiang Mingzhuo whispered, "Why don't you suspect that Yu Xu was also the boyfriend I arranged for you?"

A pang shot through my heart.

He was there, testing me.

Given Jiang Mingzhuo's personality, if he knew that I secretly went to Xinzezhou to meet with Yu Xu yesterday, he would have already taken action against Yu Xu.

I looked up and bravely met Jiang Mingzhuo's eyes. "I broke up with him a long time ago. I just want to know, why did you tell him about Xie Yong when I was with Ye Fenglin?"

“I hate them, and you’ve done something wrong. You’ve actually learned to steal my time, Xiao Fu. You never dared to do that when you were with me before.” Jiang Mingzhuo’s tone was calm and gentle, with a hint of barely perceptible coaxing.

Biting my lip, I silently lowered my head.

My silence made it seem as if I had truly fallen for Ye Fenglin, which made Jiang Mingzhuo unable to maintain his elegant and refined demeanor any longer.

The smile on his face peeled away like a mask being removed, his handsome face froze for a moment, and slowly, he became exceptionally cruel.

"Xiao Fu, you've fallen for that spoiled young master," Jiang Mingzhuo suddenly grabbed my neck, the icy temperature penetrating my neck, the slight pressure making me cough.

Jiang Mingzhuo stared into my eyes, "Where am I inferior to him?"

"He, cough cough cough, he's good to me." I struggled to finish speaking before Jiang Mingzhuo had already cupped my face and kissed my lips.

I couldn't break free. Jiang Mingzhuo glanced at me, his gaze unfriendly, and whispered to me, "Fine, he deserves to die."

He loosely gripped my neck, and in the blink of an eye, a red mark appeared on my neck, like a chain. He slightly curled his lips, and seeing that I still refused to give in, he raised the corner of his eye, and the smile on his face had long since disappeared. Jiang Mingzhuo patted his face: "Let me see how much you like him. If you dare to make a sound, I'll fuck you with my dick once, and then we'll see if he comes to save you."

"Mingzhuo, I... I was wrong." I finally couldn't take it anymore. His hands were skillfully teasing the clam shell. I grabbed his arm tightly. Wave after wave left me with no strength to resist and I could only beg for mercy.

"Where did I go wrong?" Jiang Mingzhuo's thin lips curved into a smile. In a daze, I seemed to see him at eighteen years old. Apart from being more handsome and mature, he still had a kind of cold cruelty, as if he was not moved at all by the pain of others.

"I just...I just because you guys have fallen for Lin Zhi'en!" I suddenly softened and whimpered, "You and Jiang Zhao care about Lin Zhi'en and have forgotten about me. I can't stand it, that's why I wanted to run away..."

Jiang Mingzhuo stared straight at me. I gently stroked his black hair, trying to make myself look aggrieved and weak.

"If you care about me so much, why did you lock me up at home and let me go out to meet Lin Zhi'en? Jiang Zhao too, I'm in so much pain and so miserable. I just wanted to attract your attention, Mingzhuo."

A smile played on his lips, as if he had received a satisfactory answer. My heart pounded wildly. Judging from his eyes, I realized he probably believed me.

I was slightly out of breath. "Mingzhuo, I can't accept being together like this, in this ambiguous situation. I want to be your girlfriend, or Jiang Zhao's girlfriend. I don't want to be locked up in this villa anymore. But I... I have no other choice but to run away. I thought you would come looking for me, but I've been waiting for so long..."

The grandfather clock in the study quietly struck ten o'clock, emitting a dull thud.

The door was half-closed, and I could vaguely make out the outline of the person. They were tall and had an indescribable sense of uprightness and neatness.

"For so long, I didn't know which of you I liked... I always thought I liked both of you." My eyes trembled with panic. "That night at the charity banquet, I drank too much and mistook Lin Jindong for him. That's when I realized that I didn't like either of you. The person I liked was... him. Mingzhuo, I think, I think I like Jiang Zhao a little more..."

The unlocked door was opened from the outside.

Jiang Mingzhuo turned around. Jiang Zhao had probably just returned from the company. He was wearing a black overcoat and suit, and his hair was combed back, revealing his deep and cold features.

I wasn't sure if Jiang Zhao had heard me, but he walked up to me, his sharp face carrying a faint chill.

Jiang Mingzhuo released my neck, but Jiang Zhao raised his hand and pinched my chin. I turned my head to look at him.

"You called me here just to listen to this?"

His expression was indifferent. Seeing this, I quickly grabbed his hand. Being sandwiched between the two of them was not comfortable. I hugged his arm tightly and shrank behind him. Jiang Zhao raised his eyebrows and looked at Jiang Mingzhuo with a determined look.

“You see, Mingzhuo, from beginning to end, Jiang Fu has always been mine.”

Jiang Mingzhuo kept his eyes tightly closed, and when he opened them again, it was clear that he was using reason to suppress his emotions that were about to collapse.

He smiled faintly: "So?"

The calmer Jiang Mingzhuo's tone was, the more chilling it became.

I even had a strange feeling that he would kill Jiang Zhao... even though he was his brother.

It definitely will.
