Lost
Lost
I stared wide-eyed at Lin Jindong. His expression was aloof and composed. Rather than genuinely wanting to be my "boyfriend," it seemed he was using that statement to observe my behavior.
Given how much Lin Jindong loves his sister, he's probably just very unhappy that Ye Fenglin has "fallen out of love" with her.
However, I'm a little curious: if I really agree to his request, what will he do?
I was so distracted that I didn't notice Lin Jindong's hand gripping my neck. Unlike Jiang Zhao, he wasn't clamping my jaw so I couldn't move; instead, he wrapped his arms around my neck, and with a little force, I even felt a suffocating discomfort.
"...Brother, please don't do this." I managed to utter a few words with great effort, very weak and soft, with a hint of pleading.
Lin Jindong raised an eyebrow. "It can talk now?"
"No...it is." I said, each word distinct, with my head tilted back.
Lin Jindong's expression was inscrutable. He chuckled softly, "Say a few more things for me to hear, like... I've warned you so many times, why can't you leave Ye Fenglin?"
I already have difficulty speaking, and my nervousness made it even harder for me to utter a sound. I could only manage a few weak syllables. It wasn't that I was in pain, but I suddenly noticed that Lin Jindong's eyes were filled with a strong sense of aggression as he stared at me.
Lin Jindong smiled faintly, and after a moment he spoke, "This is a method for detecting lies."
I let out a soft voice, looked at him with a puzzled expression, my eyes unfocused and my face blank.
He withdrew his hand, a fleeting glint of burning desire in his eyes, and spoke clearly in a deep voice, "The artery in the neck is the most vulnerable part of the human body, and it's also the one that beats most noticeably. I only need to touch it to know whether the other person is lying or not."
"How many times have I told you, stay away from him." Lin Jindong's eyes were full of sharp edge. The sense of oppression he gave people was gradually increasing without him even noticing. I suddenly regretted my previous thought. How could a man like this be willing to be toyed with?
I saw my reflection clearly in the car's rearview mirror. My eyes were red-rimmed, and I looked pitiful.
He let go of me, and only then did I dare to raise my hand and tell him, "It was Ye Fenglin who took the initiative to pursue me, not me who was pestering him."
Lin Jindong narrowed his eyes, his gaze suddenly sharpening: "I have another way to tell if you're lying. Do you want to know?"
His tone was a bit stern, and I immediately froze, staring at him.
"This afternoon, after Zhi'en finishes class, she will go to see Ye Zi. If he still remembers you in front of Zhi'en, then I won't break you two up. In the meantime, you can stay with your brother." Lin Jindong emphasized the last few words, curled his lips, and spoke with a hint of teasing.
It turns out that Lin Zhien was going to visit Ye Fenglin today... I was stunned. While I was in a daze, Lin Jindong suddenly leaned over and fastened my seatbelt. His action caught me off guard. I wanted to back away, but he just happened to stand up.
For a fleeting moment, my chin brushed against his cheek. He turned and glanced at me.
I quickly lowered my head. Although it was just a light touch, he must have felt it.
The car wasn't going fast, and I didn't even know where Lin Jindong was taking me. I could only steal glances at him. I have to say, there aren't many men who can wear a suit so sexily. Lin Jindong's straight, long legs were encased in his suit trousers, and my gaze only briefly fell upon them.
I saw it. ...Luckily, those black trousers weren't torn.
Even when it's sleeping, it seems terrifyingly large.
I realized I wasn't looking in the right direction, so I simply focused my gaze on his face. A handsome face, deep-set eyes, wheat-colored skin, a cold and sharp expression, and those exceptionally unapproachable thin lips.
He took a phone call and was talking to someone on the other end about work. He was quite different from how he spoke to me a dozen minutes earlier. He wasn't smiling, and he spoke very professionally and with a sharp edge.
"Okay, I'll go back right away. Have them bring the evidence to the office."
Lin Jindong noticed I was looking at him, turned his head, and pressed the Bluetooth earpiece with his slender fingers. "Let's talk later."
Hearing snippets of his conversation, I couldn't help but look up. What came into view was a beautiful and independent building. I could tell at a glance that it was the Empire State Capitol Building. It was made of white marble and was solemn and dignified, somewhat like a church.
Lin Jindong's car passed through security without any problems. The interior of the building was glittering and magnificent, but the decoration and office equipment were very classical, with almost no advanced electronic equipment in sight.
The second floor is where citizens of the Imperial State can choose to attend political hearings and participate in discussions.
The Imperial State Attorney General's Office is located on the seventeenth floor.
Lin Jindong took me to his office in the elevator, where a dark green checkered carpet covered the floor. Almost everyone coming and going looked like a political elite, carrying a briefcase and walking with an air of authority.
The office was divided into many separate workrooms, with decorative paintings on the walls and heavy, dark oak tables and chairs everywhere, like antiques from the 1990s.
I know that the public doesn't allow federal employees like them to work in overly luxurious offices; everything here strives for simplicity and rusticity.
The words "Chief Prosecutor of the Criminal Justice Department" are written on the door of Lin Jindong's office.
The man spoke succinctly and condescendingly: "Go inside and wait for me. Don't wander off."
I nodded. His office wasn't large, with an entire wall covered in professional books and case files scattered throughout the work area. In the corner was a dark black armchair with a desk lamp and a laptop on a small table next to it.

As I watched Lin Jindong leave, I was alone in my office, the room shrouded in silent darkness.
Only half a desk lamp cast its light downwards, creating a suffocating, oppressive atmosphere. Soon, I noticed the file on the table. Since the date was December 27th, the day Xie Yong held his birthday party, I stared at it intently, my breath catching in my throat.
I hesitated for a moment, then reached out to make sure the office door was locked before mustering my courage to walk over and rummage through it.
In Empire State, the Attorney General's Office of Special Investigations has begun investigating the fatal car crash of December 27.
According to a medical examination, the deceased had ingested an excessive amount of illicit drugs and was incoherent while driving.
In an attempt to avoid a Ford that ran a red light, the deceased crashed into a shop window on the side of the street and died from his injuries.
The Attorney General believes there are suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, and the Special Investigations Office has launched a full investigation into the incident. He has recommended that the Imperial State Police release the body camera footage and temporarily detain the other person responsible for the accident.
My heart raced faster and faster as I read, and I couldn't help but turn a few more pages.
The man lying in the morgue was already cold, his body a horribly pale blue-white. That face… I recognized it. It was the man who tried to bully me at the party that day…
I didn't have a good impression of him, but watching this vibrant life disappear before my eyes still made me tremble with fear and panic. My breathing became completely disordered, and I recalled that summer in high school.
At school, almost everyone knew about my relationship with Jiang Mingzhuo. No boy dared to approach me, and they avoided me even in private.
Some people are very bold and confess their feelings to me, but within a few days, they leave my world completely for various reasons. There was a boy whose family sold ice cream. One day after PE class, he stopped me outside the classroom and started touching me inappropriately.
Just then, Jiang Zhao came to the school to look for me, and he saw me.
One rainy night, he ran to the Jiang family's garden and shouted at Jiang Mingzhuo.
He said he only liked me, and that Jiang Mingzhuo caused his parents to lose their jobs, so they did nothing wrong.
The boy was still cursing, even taking his anger out on me. I was so scared that I trembled in Jiang Zhao's arms. Jiang Mingzhuo looked at me and gently comforted me: "Xiao Fu, don't be afraid, he won't come again in a few days."

“…But,” I shook my head, “don’t do this.”
Jiang Zhao held me even tighter. Soon, the cursing outside turned into wails, then into painful pleas for mercy, and finally, I could hear no sound at all.
I don't know where he went, and I haven't seen him since that night. I'm used to people appearing in my life and then leaving inexplicably, especially after that heavy rain that day. The next day, the garden was spotless, and it all felt like a dream.
Jiang Zhao and Jiang Mingzhuo naturally took charge of everything around me.
Memories long buried deep within me are reminding me: Where did that boy from the rainy night go? Will he end up like this man...? I was utterly lost, and most of all, I was terrified. I couldn't even hear the office door lock turning.
It wasn't until the door was opened a little that I belatedly realized what was happening. I quickly put the things back, my heart still racing, and I looked at Lin Jindong helplessly.
"What bad thing did you do?" He didn't seem to notice my guilty behavior, remaining calm and collected.
I shook my head. Lin Jindong sat down on the sofa next to me, raised his hand to his lips as usual, and looked me over with his sharp eyes. He lowered his eyebrows and said, "Come here and do me a favor."
I walked towards him, and Lin Jindong took down the narrow-brimmed tie that had been neglected and was hanging to the side, looking at my wrist. The office was very warm, and I had already taken off my hoodie and hung it on the hanger next to me, wearing only a white shirt and jeans.
His eyes deepened, his gaze fixed on me. It seemed to linger for a moment, moving from my lips to my neck, down to my collarbone beneath his shirt… I felt like a soft little lamb in his eyes. His sharp, interrogation-like gaze made me even more guilty, having already secretly looked at his things.
A cold sensation gripped my wrist.
I looked down and noticed that Lin Jindong had wrapped his tie around my wrist. My hands were together, firmly bound by the tie. Lin Jindong looked at my wrist and chuckled, "As expected, it won't work."
Meeting my gaze, he curled his lips into a smile. "I want to test how I would control a prisoner if he temporarily escaped and wouldn't obey me. It seems... this thing is still not as useful as handcuffs."
"Will anyone disobey?" I asked him curiously in sign language as I watched his tie being loosened, leaving a faint mark on his wrist.
He smiled, then gave a soft "hmm." I pursed my lips, and before I could speak, Lin Jindong suddenly said calmly, "It seems there are rats."
I froze, staring at him in disbelief, all the words stuck in my throat. But Lin Jindong continued, "Right under your feet, I've heard that rats can bite."
"Ah!" I was terrified. I clenched my sweaty palms and went limp without thinking. He picked me up and stood up. I kept shrinking into his arms and even looked down in panic. Where was the mouse?
Lin Jindong deftly raised his arms, allowing my legs to fit perfectly between his waist and abdomen. The man had broad shoulders and a narrow waist; his lean, powerful frame was brimming with pent-up strength. He supported my push-up, bending down at times as if searching for the mouse. Then he stood up again, his large hands bracing against my push-up.
I didn't dare move an inch, except to push harder. Suddenly, Lin Jindong gripped my waist tightly, his hand hot, burning, and iron-like. I always thought my body was very sensitive, and his action might have been unintentional, but it felt no different from arousal to me. I could even feel the muddy sensation.
“Our office conditions here are rather old, and rats often appear. I need to find one and chase it away.” His slightly calloused fingertips touched my waist, a clear smile playing on his lips.
I couldn't stand his constant lifting and lowering movements, and I didn't want anyone to notice, so I had no choice but to hold onto his shoulders tightly.
I felt so bad I wanted to cry. This feeling of being stuck in the middle was unpleasant. I could only look up at him, and he smiled calmly. "Alright, get down now."
I was placed on the ground, but I was still terrified. I carefully examined the floor. Lin Jindong opened the door, and everything outside seemed normal. He found an intern and whispered to him, "There are rats in the office. You need to arrange for someone to deal with them."
The other person was also shocked, but judging from how skillfully he made the call to a housekeeping company, he was probably used to it.
I stayed in Lin Jindong's office until after 5 a.m.
He took me to a nearby coffee shop for a simple dinner before telling me that he happened to be free and was going to take me to the hospital to visit Ye Fenglin.
Me: "Where's your sister?"
Lin Jindong's long Adam's apple bobbed slightly, his eyelids half-closed. "I'll pick her up and take her home. What about you? Are you coming to my house today? Zhi'en likes you a lot."
I find it hard to say what Lin Jindong's feelings for Lin Zhi'en really are. He seems like simply a brother who dotes on his younger sister, but at the same time, he seems to harbor a subtle affection for his perfect and elegant sister. @Unlimited good articles, all at Literary City
He must really like Lim Ji-eun.
When Lin Jindong and I arrived at the hospital, as we stepped out of the elevator, I heard a barking sound in the hospital courtyard. I couldn't help but turn around and saw a snow-white Samoyed dog wagging its tail at me. Its soft, white body was quite dirty. Seeing me, the dog was extremely excited and rushed straight towards me, jumping onto my lap.
The Samoyed wagged its tail excitedly at me; it was dirty, but its eyes were bright and it was very cute.
I raised my hand, and it felt sweet and friendly in my palm. I couldn't help but bend down to examine it closely.
Isn't this Xie Yong's pet dog?
