Chapter 211 Ruan Ruan is in trouble
"Ruan Ruan?!"
On the other end of the phone, all that answered him was the dull thud of the phone falling and hitting the ground, a few muffled sobs of struggle, and finally, utter silence.
Yan Tingnan's fingers tightened around the phone, her knuckles turning cold and white.
Lu Zhuo and He Sichen both looked at him at the same time.
"Old Yan?!"
Lu Zhuo's expression changed, and he suddenly stood up.
Yan Tingnan slowly put down her phone, the screen displaying the end of the call.
"Ruan Ruan is in trouble."
Lu Zhuotao's eyes flashed with a fierce glint.
"It must be that old scoundrel, Grandpa!"
"He's using dirty tricks!"
He Sichen's voice was calm as he quickly got to the heart of the matter.
"Location? Last known source of communication signal?"
"In China, downstairs from her studio."
Yan Tingnan speaks very quickly and has a clear train of thought.
"Lu Zhuo, contact Wen Jinxiao."
Lu Zhuo instantly understood: "Let him use his military connections?"
"more than."
Yan Tingnan's voice was cold.
"Make him activate the highest-level Skynet tracking. I need to see the entire route of the kidnapped vehicle and its final destination within half an hour."
"clear!"
Lu Zhuo immediately took out his phone, walked to the side, and quickly dialed a number.
Yan Tingnan turned her gaze to He Sichen.
"Old Crane".
He Sichen nodded slightly, needing no further explanation, already understanding his responsibilities.
"I will coordinate flight routes and apply for the fastest route back to China to ensure you have a smooth journey and the fastest flight back home."
"The cleanup in Zurich will be done simultaneously to ensure that no one can use this as an excuse after we leave."
He looked up and met Yan Tingnan's gaze; it was a meeting of absolute trust and understanding.
"Don't worry, there's no road in the sky or on the ground that my He family can't pave."
Yan Tingnan raised his eyes, his voice low and steady.
"No need to accompany the ship, you stay in Zurich to finish up."
"With only half a game left, don't give the old man a chance to turn the tide."
He Sichen nodded slightly, his pale wrist turning gently as he took off his glasses and wiped them.
"Okay, I'll hold the position."
He looked up, his pupils clear and cold as frost.
"If it's windy in China, remember to call me."
"We're ready to lead our men back at any time."
Lu Zhuo had just finished his call with Wen Jinxiao and walked over quickly.
"Jin Xiao has already taken action. He told you to rest assured, he'll dig three feet into the ground to find the person for you!"
Yan Tingnan nodded slightly, picked up the suit jacket draped over the back of the chair, and put it on deftly.
"Go back to China."
...
Zurich and Beijing are six hours apart.
The plane landed at Beijing International Airport at dusk the following day.
He barely slept during the thirteen-hour flight.
The plane landed and the cabin door opened.
The cold, damp winds of late autumn in Beijing swept in, chilling to the bone.
In the parking lot, Lu Zhuo leaned against the car door and tossed a car key over.
"The car is ready. Shall we head straight to Jinyuan?"
Yan Tingnan took the keys and walked straight to the driver's seat.
"Um."
He opened the car door and got in.
Lu Zhuo frowned: "Aren't you jet-lagged?"
Yan Tingnan fastened his seatbelt, his profile appearing cold and hard in the dim twilight.
"Bring her back, then go to sleep."
Before the words were even finished, the car merged into the traffic and headed straight for Jinyuan in the west of the city.
Jin Garden, Yan Family Ancestral Hall.
The flickering candlelight illuminated the numerous memorial tablets, creating a solemn and dignified atmosphere.
Yan Hongyi stood with his back to the door in front of the incense table, his shadow stretching long in the candlelight.
Footsteps sounded from behind, neither hurried nor slow.
Yan Hongyi did not turn around.
"I'm back."
His voice was old, carrying the composure of someone who had long held a high position.
Yan Tingnan stopped at the threshold.
Covered in dust, with his suit jacket casually draped over his arm and his shirt collar slightly open, he seemed out of place in the oppressive atmosphere of the ancient ancestral hall.
Where is he?
He got straight to the point, without any beating around the bush.
Between the grandfather and grandson, there was a room filled with silence and an undercurrent of tension.
"Women are not discussed in ancestral halls."
Yan Hongyi turned around, his eyes like those of a hawk.
"First kowtow to the ancestors, then apologize to the Yan family."
He stepped forward and entered the solemn place where the ancestors of the Yan family were enshrined, breaking the silence of the rules.
"I only ask, where is my wife, Su Ruan?"
He stopped half a step in front of Yan Hongyi, the imposing presence of his height causing the candlelight to flicker.
Yan Hongyi's eyes suddenly turned cold.
He took a step forward, leaning on his cane, and struck the ground with the dragon head, producing a dull echo.
"Upon returning, instead of offering greetings, he only inquired about that woman?"
"Yan Tingnan, where is your manners?"
"Good manners are about how you treat people."
Yan Tingnan raised his eyes, and a clear mockery emerged in his deep gaze.
Are you worthy?
Yan Hongyi's face darkened, and anger flashed in his eyes, but he quickly suppressed it.
"Here, the ancestors of the Yan family are enshrined, representing the foundation and rules of the Yan family for centuries!"
"This isn't a place for you to talk about love and romance, nor is it a place for you to interrogate that shameful woman!"
He looked up, his gaze piercing through the candlelight and landing on Yan Tingnan's cold, hard face.
"Where Suruan is located depends on you."
"Kneel down now and swear before your ancestors that you will immediately stop your insane plans and live a law-abiding life from now on."
Yan Hongyi paused, his voice lowering further, yet becoming even more dangerous.
"Otherwise, accidents could happen at any time."
The air inside the ancestral hall seemed to freeze instantly.
The candle flame crackled and popped.
Yan Tingnan slowly raised his eyes, a surge of bloodshot light appearing in his pupils before quickly returning to a deathly still abyss.
He took a step forward, closing in on Yan Hongyi.
"Why?"
He stared into Yan Hongyi's cloudy, sharp eyes.
"Why target my mother and Su Ruan?"
"What did they do wrong? Was it because they were pretty? Was it because they refused to be manipulated like puppets?"
Yan Hongyi's pupils suddenly contracted, as if a sore spot had been hit, and the muscles on his face twitched.
"What do you know!"
He growled, his voice filled with the embarrassment and anger of having his wounds reopened.
"Beautiful women are all trouble! They're poisonous snakes!"
"They will only use their pitiful appearance to deceive you, and then when you are least on guard, they will deliver the most fatal blow!"
The past gripped his heart, making it hard for him to breathe.
His gaze wavered for a moment, as if he were seeing that rainy night decades ago, that woman with beautiful features but a heart of a serpent.
“Ah Yue…”
He murmured, his voice filled with deep-seated hatred and pain.
"I joined the army at sixteen, and at twenty I fought bandits and rescued Ah Yue who had been kidnapped."
"She said she loved me, trusted me, and depended on me, and I believed her."
His voice was hoarse as he sank into the mire of memories.
"On the eve of the raid, she led me into a ravine, where the bandits had already set up their machine guns."
Yan Tingnan listened quietly, her face expressionless.
"Of the platoon I led, only seven survived."
Yan Hongyi suddenly looked up, his eyes bloodshot.
"Later I found out that she was already pregnant with the bandit's child!"
"She lied to me, used me, and caused the deaths of so many of my brothers!"
“I was recuperating at the military hospital when I met your grandmother, Xu Shuang. She was so kind and pure, like a ray of light that pulled me out of hell.”
His tone softened briefly, then became sharper.
"But just when she was about to give birth to your aunt, A-Yue appeared again!"
"That wicked woman, her husband is dead, and she came to me with nowhere else to turn!"
"She's jealous because she sees your grandmother and I living happily!"
"She actually... she actually gave your grandmother a dose of strychnine, almost killing both her and her unborn child."
Yan Hongyi's body trembled slightly, and his shoulders were slightly hunched in the shadows.
"Shuang'er died in my arms. Your aunt is lucky; she survived..."
He stared intently at Yan Tingnan, his gaze obsessive and crazed.
"Look! How terrifying can a beautiful woman be?"
"They can destroy everything you have with just a flick of their wrist!"
"Your mother too! She's completely infatuated with your father, to the point that he's abandoned all family responsibilities!"
"And that Su Ruan! What has she done to you?!"
"Ting Nan, I'm doing this for your own good. I can't watch you follow in my footsteps and be ruined by these women!"
