Chapter 217 You need to be well-fed to have the strength...
Yan Tingnan pinched her chin and lowered his head to kiss her again.
First, a light touch, then the next second, the tips of the teeth slightly tapped, prying open the lips.
A deep, bone-deep longing almost consumed her.
Su Ruan was kissed so hard she leaned back, her hands flailing wildly as she ripped open two buttons on his collar.
My fingers touched the hollow of my collarbone, and as if finding a fulcrum, I simply scratched it.
Yan Tingnan pressed his knees against the edge of the bed, pulling the person under the covers and kissing them even deeper.
Su Ruan was so overwhelmed by his kisses that she felt like she was running out of oxygen.
But then, my stomach rumbled at just the right moment, spoiling the mood perfectly.
The two of them stopped at the same time.
Her body stiffened, instantly jolted awake from the romantic atmosphere, her cheeks flushed bright red, and she felt so embarrassed she wanted to disappear into the ground.
Su Ruan buried her face in his shoulder and said in a muffled voice, "It protested."
Yan Tingnan couldn't help but chuckle softly, pressing his forehead against hers.
"All right."
"I'll feed your tummy first, then I'll feed you."
Her ears turned red, and she quickly covered his mouth.
"If you make another lewd joke, I'll dock your rations!"
Just then, the ward door clicked open.
Wen Jinxiao strode in carrying several takeout bags, his voice booming.
"Sister-in-law! Here's some food... uh..."
His words abruptly stopped as he looked at the two people in an intimate pose on the hospital bed, momentarily speechless.
"Oh dear, did I deliver this food at the wrong time?"
"It's the perfect time."
Yan Tingnan sat up without changing his expression.
"Perfect timing, she was starving."
Su Ruan's ears burned, and from an angle where Wen Jinxiao couldn't see, she pinched Yan Tingnan's back hard.
Wen Jinxiao clicked his tongue and placed the food box on the bedside table.
"I'll just make do near the hospital. It's a local specialty, Crossing-the-Bridge Rice Noodles. It's light and refreshing, just enough to tide me over."
"Sister-in-law, eat it while it's hot, it'll clump together when it cools down."
Su Ruan's eyes lit up, and she reached out to grab the bag.
"Crossing-the-Bridge Rice Noodles! Captain Wen, you're awesome!"
She was so hungry that her stomach was practically sticking to her back, and she didn't care about her appearance anymore.
Her movement pulled on the IV line, and a small amount of blood instantly flowed back from the puncture site on the back of her hand.
Yan Tingnan's face darkened, and he quickly grabbed her wrist.
"Don't move."
He deftly adjusted the IV tubing, his fingertips tracing the back of her hand, his brow furrowed.
"Does it hurt?"
Seeing his nervous expression, Su Ruan's pent-up frustration instantly melted away.
"Teacher Yan, you look more like a patient than I do right now."
Wen Jinxiao's teeth ached from looking at it.
"Fine, I'm superfluous."
He turned and walked towards the door.
"Eat slowly, you two, and get treated slowly."
The door clicked shut.
Yan Tingnan sat up straight, set up the bedside table, and unpacked the takeout.
The rice noodles are steaming hot, with a rich and flavorful broth and a variety of side dishes.
He naturally picked up the bowl and chopsticks, picked up a chopstick, and carefully blew on it to cool it down.
"Open your mouth, little one."
Su Ruan watched expectantly and opened her mouth in agreement.
"ah--"
The rice noodles slid into my mouth, their warmth and comfort soothing my hungry stomach.
She squinted her eyes contentedly.
"tasty!"
Yan Tingnan looked at her contented kitten-like appearance, and a smile spread across his eyes.
"Slower."
He fed her another spoonful of soup.
"You need to be well-fed to have energy..."
Su Ruan looked up alertly.
"Um?"
He remained expressionless, but his gaze lingered on her reddened earlobes.
"What I meant was, after you've eaten, we can talk about what's to come in Zurich."
"Or is Ruan Ruan thinking about something unhealthy?"
Su Ruan was caught off guard and felt both ashamed and angry. She snatched the chopsticks away.
"I'll do it myself. You never say anything serious!"
She buried her head and continued eating her rice noodles.
Yan Tingnan chuckled softly, not stopping her, and leaned against the bedside to watch her.
His gaze was tender and full of affection.
He raised his hand and used his knuckles to wipe away a bit of oil from the corner of her mouth.
"Eat slowly, no one's going to take it from you."
Su Ruan slowed down and glanced at him.
Aren't you going to eat?
"I've already eaten dinner."
She pouted, but picked up a mouthful of rice noodles that had been cooled by blowing on them and held it to his lips.
"Here, this is a treat for you, have some more."
Yan Tingnan was slightly taken aback, then a faint smile appeared in her eyes, and she lowered her head to hold it in her mouth.
"It tastes good."
"Of course, I fed him!"
She proudly raised her chin and scooped up another spoonful of soup, handing it over.
The two shared a simple bowl of rice noodles, and warmth filled the ward.
After feeding him a few bites, Su Ruan suddenly remembered something.
"By the way, where is Mu Chuji?"
"At the crucial moment, she didn't have another brain fart and betray us, did she?"
She remembered that the woman was a fickle opportunist.
Although the temptation of 500 million is great, there's no guarantee that the system won't cause any more trouble.
"No."
Yan Tingnan's tone was certain.
"She was very cooperative."
"Or rather, the motivation of 500 million yuan is enough to make her more determined than anyone else."
"Otherwise, we wouldn't have had such a smooth experience."
Su Ruan's eyes lit up, a hint of smugness in them.
"Looks like my money-for-hire strategy is working really well!"
"I'll strip the old man naked for you."
"Um."
Yan Tingnan looked at her with deep eyes, his expression full of approval.
"Ruan Ruan has a great vision; you made a very good move."
"Is 500 million enough to buy her silence and prevent her from causing any more trouble?"
Su Ruan chuckled.
"She'll be so happy she'll lose her bearings."
"She's smart enough to take sides temporarily and make amends for her mistake."
She paused, then muttered softly.
"It's just that this girl isn't very bright. If we had known that 500 million would have been enough, we would have been so jealous for nothing..."
Yan Tingnan pinched the tip of her nose.
"The vinegar is delicious, I'll drink it again next time."
Su Ruan: "..."
Su Ruan finished the last mouthful of rice noodles with great satisfaction, even drinking the soup clean.
Just as she put down the bowl, the nurse came in with a tray to remove her IV.
Su Ruan felt sticky all over; it was the cold sweat from being tied up and unconscious yesterday.
"I want to take a shower."
She whispered to Yan Tingnan, her tone a mix of coquettishness and disdain.
Yan Tingnan glanced at the back of her hand, and only nodded after confirming that the blood was no longer flowing back.
"I'll help you."
"Need not!"
Su Ruan's ears burned, and she glared at him.
"I was drugged, not crippled!"
Yan Tingnan raised an eyebrow, took out her change of clothes and towel from the prepared luggage bag, and handed them over.
"Call me if you need anything."
"Okay."
Su Ruan, carrying her clothes, went into the bathroom attached to the hospital room.
The sound of water pattering could be heard.
Yan Tingnan leaned against the wall outside the bathroom door, lit a cigarette to dispel the smell of disinfectant and suppress some restless thoughts.
He listened to the faint sound of water inside, imagining the hot water sliding over her skin, and his Adam's apple bobbed involuntarily.
When Su Ruan came out after washing up, she was steaming hot, and her cheeks were rosy from the heat.
She was wearing comfortable cotton pajamas, her hair damp and draped over her shoulders.
She looked like a freshly peeled hard-boiled egg, both refreshing and tempting.
Yan Tingnan's eyes darkened. He walked over and naturally took the towel from her hand, helping her dry her hair.
"Mmm, that feels good."
Su Ruan narrowed her eyes.
The nurse made her final rounds, gave some instructions, and then left, closing the door behind her.
The footsteps faded into the distance.
Click.
With a soft click, Yan Tingnan raised her hand and deftly locked the ward door from the inside.
Su Ruan paused in her act of drying her hair, her heart skipping a beat for no apparent reason.
Then, he walked to the window and quickly pulled the blackout curtains shut.
"Teacher Yan, why are you locking the door and drawing the curtains?"
Su Ruan asked the question knowingly, her voice a little tense.
