Chapter 36 Why don't you, as the father, go and coax him?
Yan Tingnan clenched her palm, steadily controlling the fishing rod between her fingers.
"Mermaid?"
"There's none in the sea, but there's a disobedient one tied upside down on the boat."
His voice rang close to her ear, tinged with a hint of teasing.
Just as Su Ruan was about to reply, his warm fingertips pinched her chin, turning her face to face.
"Look at the float, not me."
He commanded, his voice returning to its usual cold tone.
Su Ruan's ears burned instantly.
This man is amazing!
Suddenly, he pulled her wrist down sharply!
It sank.
She excitedly pulled the pole, but the reaction force pulled her forward.
The fishing line hissed as it broke through the water, the empty hook swaying in the sunlight.
Where's the fish?
Su Ruan frowned as she stared at the empty hook.
"Once the bait is eaten, the fish will naturally escape."
His voice was low and gentle as he looked down at her slightly reddened earlobes.
"Hunters who bait their hooks too hastily often fail to catch big fish."
"If you're impatient and agitated, even the fish will laugh at you."
Su Ruan felt a stab in her heart.
These words, while ostensibly referring to fish, are actually a veiled warning.
Do you think her flirting is too blatant? Or that her methods are too immature?
Yan Tingnan shoved the fishing rod back into her hand.
"Re-bait."
"I'll do it myself this time."
He released his grip and took a half-step back.
His gaze was fixed on the distant horizon where the sea met the sky, and his voice was calm.
Su Ruan raised an eyebrow as she looked at the empty embrace.
"Teacher Yan left after teaching only half of the lesson?"
"The student is too slow; I need to give him/her personal guidance several times."
Yan Tingnan's gaze shifted from the horizon to her slightly puffed cheeks.
"Is Assistant Su being so clingy because she's afraid the fish will get away, or because she's afraid I'll run away?"
Su Ruan calmly picked up a piece of fresh shrimp bait.
"The fish got away, but it's worth countless seafood feasts."
"If President Yan runs away, where am I going to find such a good teacher again?"
As she spoke, the hook tip sank into the bait, and she flicked her wrist.
This time, the force was precise; the silver line pierced the air and firmly sank into the deep blue depths.
The float swayed gently with the waves.
Yan Tingnan leaned against the gunwale and chuckled softly.
"Assistant Su's enthusiasm for learning is unusually high."
"But fishing requires a calm mind, and with close guidance, can you really calm down?"
Just as Su Ruan was about to retaliate, the fishing rod in her hand suddenly sank!
A fierce force slammed into her palm along the fishing line, pulling her back half a step!
"hiss--!"
The creatures deep in the sea possessed terrifying strength, far beyond her ability to contend with.
My foot slipped, and I lost my balance!
Just as he was about to fall, an arm suddenly wrapped around his waist.
Yan Tingnan pulled her into his arms with one hand, and with the other hand he reached over her shoulder, covering the back of her hand with his palm, interlocking his fingers to press down on the trembling fishing rod.
"pay close attention."
"That's a tough one."
His voice suddenly turned deep, and he forcefully pulled her wrist.
He handled the fishing rod with ease.
The fishing line hissed and tore through the sea, taut like a bowstring about to snap.
"Reel in or let out?"
His breath tickled her sweaty neck.
"Let it escape?"
Su Ruan gritted her teeth and held on, her hands and fingers going numb from the tightness.
"dream."
Yan Tingnan glanced down at the taut fishing line and a slight smile appeared on her lips.
"Looks like an impatient fish."
"Don't pull it forcefully."
He suddenly loosened his grip and pulled her wrist down.
"Release the pressure and let the line out for it to run."
"Once the fish is hooked, it's not so easy to let it get away again."
That statement has a double meaning.
Laying out the lines?
Walking a fish?
Ha, he's clearly just toying with her!
Let her hang there, tense, suspended in mid-air, neither up nor down.
Like this fish caught in the hook, unable to break free or escape.
With his guidance, Su Ruan's wrist relaxed slightly, and the fishing line suddenly slackened.
The thing underwater immediately lunged outwards fiercely, almost pulling the fishing rod out of my hand.
Su Ruan was about to take advantage of the situation to retract the line, but he held on even tighter.
"Wait a little longer."
Yan Tingnan's voice was low and husky, carrying a hunting-like focus and control.
"Let it expend some more energy."
Su Ruan asked, "What if the line runs away again if we don't reconnect it?"
"With this little self-control, how can you eat hot tofu?"
Hot tofu?
Ha, is this old fox trying to trick her here?
Isn't it just a matter of patience?
She's been a devoted admirer for six years and has never backed down, so why would she be afraid of wasting her time with him?
"Teacher Yan is right."
"Haste makes waste; slow cooking is the key to good flavor."
The sea breeze carries a salty tang, and sunlight dances on the crests of the waves.
The struggle of the thing underwater gradually weakened, and the vibrations of the fishing rod also became weak and powerless.
"Now."
Yan Tingnan's voice broke the silence, carrying the confidence of a hunter closing in his net.
He suddenly exerted force on the back of her hand, pulling her forcefully to reel in the line!
A silver line broke through the water, and a large, fat fish was violently pulled out of the water, its silver scales bursting into a shower of light in the sunlight.
This big fish weighed at least ten pounds and was jumping around on the deck, splashing water everywhere.
"It's a red sea bream."
His voice was so steady that it was completely calm.
"It's very flavorful, and it tastes great steamed."
"Good student, you'll get an extra treat tonight."
He snatched the trembling fishing rod from her hand, his voice brushing against her ear.
Su Ruan looked at the lively fish, then at the man beside her calmly reeling in the line, and felt a tickle in her back teeth.
This man!
She was the one trying to seduce him, so how come she ended up being completely controlled by him?
Depend on!
Who's fishing for whom?!
The sea breeze, carrying the warmth of the sun, dissipated the fierce struggle of the fish.
She rubbed her aching hands and fingers, and sleepiness suddenly washed over her.
Last night, Song Shengsheng and I stayed up until 3 a.m. to work on the proposal. Now, with the sunshine and sea breeze blowing, my bones feel sore and weak.
"Teacher Yan teaches so well, the students are tired of studying."
She yawned softly, her voice tinged with a tired sweetness.
"I need to catch up on some sleep now to recharge so I can properly digest this extra meal tonight."
I need to conserve my energy so I'll have the strength to feast on Buddha's flesh and accomplish great things tonight!
Yan Tingnan was slowly wiping his hands with a wet wipe when he heard this, and he paused.
"random."
He uttered two words, then turned around and continued baiting the hook.
The cabin was dimly lit.
Su Ruan sank into the sofa, her consciousness gradually fading amidst the sound of the ocean waves.
The sea breeze gradually subsided, and the yacht swayed gently with the waves.
When Yan Tingnan returned to the cabin after fishing, Su Ruan was already curled up on the sofa.
The blouse slipped off her shoulders, revealing large expanses of snow-white skin that dazzled in the twilight.
Yan Tingnan glanced at the thin blanket folded in the corner of the sofa, walked over, and picked it up.
He leaned down, suddenly closing the distance.
She slept peacefully, her long eyelashes casting small shadows under her eyes, and her breathing was even and shallow.
As the blanket fell, she unconsciously rubbed against it, her lips slightly parted.
Yan Tingnan's Adam's apple bobbed, and his knuckles hovered half an inch from her cheek before he finally withdrew them.
Su Ruan was awakened by the approaching noise.
As she regained consciousness, the unfamiliar touch on her body startled her.
A thin, dark gray blanket was neatly draped over his body.
Tsk, he says one thing but does another.
She gathered her hair, draped a blanket over herself, and got up to walk toward the deck.
The twilight melts into gold, splashing across the sea.
Seagulls swept past the stern of the boat, leaving behind a string of clear cries.
Yan Tingnan had his back to her, holding a glass of whiskey, and leaning against the railing.
His back was tall and solitary, like a serene silhouette.
"woke up?"
"Um."
Su Ruan responded and walked to his side.
"Thank you for the blanket, Mr. Yan."
He took a sip of his drink and looked toward the approaching dock.
"You slept soundly."
He let out a soft laugh, the rim of his wine glass barely touching the shadows of the people gathering on the shore.
"The one on the shore isn't getting very comfortable waiting."
Su Ruan glanced at him lazily, following his gaze.
As dusk settled, shadowy figures dotted the soft sandy beach.
Colleagues gathered in small groups, laughing and making a ruckus.
A tall, slender figure stood out: Yan Yunye.
He stood there all alone, staring intently in the direction of the yacht, his expression unreadable.
"Then what should we do?"
Su Ruan turned her head to look at his profile, which was so close to hers.
The sound was softened and languid by the sea breeze.
"Why don't you, as the father, go and try to coax him?"
