Chapter 45 was given by a gentleman.

Chapter 45 was given by a gentleman.

The air conditioning at Hong Kong Island International Airport was blasting.

As soon as Su Ruan crossed the gate, she was hit by a wave of heat and stumbled.

The humid air aggravated my stomach, and I felt nauseous again.

She took a deep breath, suppressing her discomfort, and quickly scanned the crowd of people waiting to greet her.

"Su Ruan! Over here!"

A clear male voice pierced through the noise.

Shen Yu leaned against a pillar not far away, one hand in his pocket. When he saw her gaze sweep over him, he smiled and made a gesture.

In the humid night breeze of Hong Kong Island, he wore a crisp gray shirt with two buttons undone at the collar.

That air of languid nobility, ingrained by the elite families of Hong Kong, mixed with a touch of cynicism, is overwhelming.

He stepped forward, naturally took the suitcase from her hand, and handed her a bottle of mineral water.

"It's been a long time since we parted ways at the Central Academy of Fine Arts."

"Long time no see, Shen Yu."

Su Ruan forced a smile and took the bottled water he offered.

Shen Yu's gaze swept over her pale face, and he raised an eyebrow.

"However, Su, is your complexion due to being in Beijing for too long and not used to the humidity here?"

His tone was familiar yet carried a hint of banter between old friends, striking the perfect balance.

She unscrewed the bottle cap, took a sip, and suppressed the discomfort in her throat.

"I can't compare to Shen Shao's adaptability; he can thrive anywhere."

Shen Yu chuckled softly, seemingly unconcerned, and pushed the suitcase out.

"Fine, I admit I was being a smart aleck."

"Come on, I'll take you to eat something good."

"There's a seafood hot pot place in Sham Shui Po that I guarantee you'll..."

"Stop."

Su Ruan quickly cut the conversation off, the discomfort in her stomach becoming more pronounced upon hearing about seafood hot pot.

"I just got off the plane, and my mind is still floating in mid-air."

"Skip the late-night snack, just take me back to the hotel so I can recover and have the energy to be a servant at the workshop tomorrow."

Shen Yu paused, turning his head to look at her.

Her face did indeed look tired and pale, with faint dark circles under her eyes.

He clicked his tongue, but didn't insist.

"Okay, get in the car, I'll take you to rest."

Shen Yu snapped his fingers, opened the trunk of the Bentley sports car, and put the suitcase inside.

The air conditioning in the car was on full blast. Su Ruan leaned back in her seat, closed her eyes, and paused for a couple of seconds.

"I've already investigated the backgrounds of Baohua and Tiangongfang for you."

"Here's their information; we'll look at it on the way."

Shen Yu handed over the tablet, started the engine, and the sports car roared as it merged into the traffic.

"Let's start with Baohua. They're arrogant and their prices are the highest in the market. They insist on a minimum construction period of forty days, not a day less, and require a 70% prepayment."

He tapped his fingers lightly on the steering wheel, then changed the subject.

"Tiangongfang, huh? It's somewhat interesting."

"The manager's surname is Li. He used to work in European workshops. His craftsmanship is top-notch. He is proud, but not rigid. He requires a 50% prepayment."

A glimmer of light ignited in Su Ruan's eyes.

"I don't have time to compare prices, I'll go directly to Tiangongfang tomorrow."

"Tiangongfang has a higher skill ceiling and there's room to shorten the production time, so let's take a gamble."

Shen Yu paused on the steering wheel, a playful smile curving his lips.

"Wow, Mr. Su is really efficient."

He asked in a slightly teasing tone, as if it were unintentional.

"Such a huge mess, didn't Yan Yunye help you sort things out?"

"With the Yan family's reputation at stake, would Jiangxin dare to break the contract?"

Su Ruan replied calmly, "I broke up with him."

“My affairs have nothing to do with him.”

Shen Yu tightened his grip on the steering wheel for a moment, then relaxed it again.

He chuckled softly, a laugh that sounded ambiguous.

"Good."

"So that the kid won't get in the way."

He didn't ask any more questions, and the only thing left in the car was the flowing night view of Hong Kong Island.

The car stopped in front of the Rosewood Hotel, and the doorman greeted us warmly.

Shen Yu didn't get out of the car, but only lowered the window and casually rested his elbow on the windowsill.

"We've upgraded your room to an ocean-view suite. Get some rest. We'll pick you up downstairs at nine tomorrow morning."

"Thanks, Shen Yu."

Su Ruan got out of the car carrying her small handbag, while the waiter took her suitcase.

"polite."

Shen Yu gestured with his chin towards her through the car window.

"Are you sure you don't want to eat something?"

Looking at her pale profile, Shen Yu asked a question in a rare serious tone.

"No need, see you tomorrow."

Su Ruan waved her hand and walked into the hotel lobby without looking back.

After swiping open the suite door, Su Ruan collapsed onto the soft, large bed, too exhausted to move a single finger.

The lingering effects of that seafood meal at Shallow Island Bay, coupled with the pressure of working non-stop, have left my body severely exhausted.

I forced myself to get up and took a hot shower. After I came out, I picked up my phone and saw a text message saying that a bank had deposited money into my account.

Su Ruan stared at the string of zeros, her pupils suddenly shrinking.

Five million?!

Before she could even react, her phone vibrated again; it was Song Shengsheng calling.

"Ruanruan! Did you receive the money?"

"I received the bank loan as soon as I got off the plane, that's incredibly efficient!"

Song Shengsheng's voice was hoarse from the long flight, yet unusually excited.

Su Ruan's heart skipped a beat: "Where did you get so much cash flow?"

"I mortgaged the apartment in Chaoyang District that my parents gave me, and scraped together five million yuan. I'll transfer it to you to tide you over!"

Su Ruan choked up: "Song Shengsheng! You're fucking crazy..."

"Enough with the nonsense!"

Song Shengsheng interrupted her.

"The craftsmanship is holding our cash flow in check, and your workshop is a money-guzzling beast. How can we fight a war without ammunition?"

“We’re in this together now. Since we’re opening a studio together, we can’t let you shoulder the financial burden alone, can we?”

"Alright, I've arrived in Yunnan. I'm heading into the mountains to find Master Chen now. As for Hong Kong, it's up to you!"

"I'm hanging up! Wait for news!"

Su Ruan gripped her phone, staring at the long string of numbers.

The pressure, like a tide, slapped against my heart with a heavy warmth.

I had just hung up the phone when the doorbell rang.

Room service.

Su Ruan was puzzled; she hadn't called for anything.

The door opened, and a waiter pushed a food cart.

On top is a bowl of congee with dried scallops, a few refreshing side dishes, and a small bowl of glistening bird's nest.

There were two boxes of imported stomach medicine and a bottle of electrolyte water next to it.

Su Ruan was taken aback.

Shen Yu may seem carefree and cynical, but he is actually quite meticulous.

I could actually tell that my stomach was upset.

"Thanks."

She stepped aside to let the waiter in and asked casually.

"Was it arranged by Mr. Shen Yu?"

The waiter quickly set up the small table and simply smiled politely upon hearing this.

"It was ordered by a gentleman. Please enjoy your meal."

After saying this, he bowed and withdrew.

Su Ruanxin understood.

Shen Yu, that guy, does good deeds anonymously?

Or are you afraid she'll feel awkward thanking you in person?

She shook her head and sat down at the table.

The light aroma of the food whetted my appetite and also suppressed the discomfort in my stomach.

She picked up her phone and found Shen Yu's WeChat.

Thank you, Young Master Shen.

Here, Chen Yu's phone screen lit up, displaying a concise message from Su Ruan.

He scooped it up, glanced at it, and raised an eyebrow slightly.

Thanks?

Thanks to him for connecting the workshop?

When did Su Ruan become so polite to him?

The matter hasn't even been resolved yet, isn't it too early to thank me?

That's it?

Three seconds after the message was sent, another message was sent.

[You really need to thank me. Once we take over Tiangongfang tomorrow, you'll treat me to a big meal.]

Su Ruan was scooping up some white porridge when her phone vibrated twice.

She glanced at it and chuckled.

【no problem. 】
