Chapter 35 I'll Give You a Mermaid
Yan Tingnan looked down at her, his tone playful.
"Is Assistant Su very knowledgeable?"
Su Ruan took half a step forward.
"Who wouldn't want to pluck a flower as unattainable as President Yan?"
He suddenly lowered his head, his breath brushing against her ear.
"Including you?"
Su Ruan's heart skipped a beat, but her face remained calm.
"We share the same aesthetic taste."
"After all, high-quality resources are always coveted."
Yan Tingnan suddenly chuckled softly, making one's ears inexplicably burn.
"You seem to understand things quite well."
Su Ruan raised an eyebrow.
"Doesn't President Yan see it more clearly?"
"Miss Wen's little schemes are probably not even beginner level in your eyes."
"My eyesight is only good enough to see these petty tricks on the surface."
"President Yan, your eyes can see right through people's innermost thoughts and tricks."
A sea breeze swept by, ruffling a few stray hairs on Yan Tingnan's forehead.
He twitched his lips slightly, a hint of mockery in his expression.
"Assistant Su has been flattering me a lot lately."
Su Ruan met his gaze without flinching, her smile sweet and gentle.
"Just telling the truth."
The yacht had now steadily sailed into the deep blue sea.
The sun was blazing, the sea surface shimmered with golden light, and the engine noise subsided.
"We've arrived at the deep sea area."
Yan Tingnan turned and walked toward the sea fishing equipment that was fixed to one side of the deck.
He pulled out a fishing rod and inspected the reel.
Su Ruan followed him and picked up a heavy fishing rod, just like him.
She suddenly turned around, a challenging glint in her eyes.
"Mr. Yan, since you're already here, how about teaching me how to sea fish?"
Yan Tingnan paused, then looked up at her.
"Assistant Su has a strong thirst for knowledge."
"Which do you want to learn? Casting, watching the float, or the patience to wait for a fish to bite?"
Su Ruan fiddled with the complex thread reel.
"We all want to learn, but would you like Teacher Yan to teach in more depth?"
Yan Tingnan's lips twitched slightly, but she didn't respond to her hook-like words.
He approached, his tall figure looming over her, the shadow enveloping her.
The sea breeze, carrying the crisp scent of sandalwood emanating from him, forcefully invaded his senses.
"Watching rafts is a mysterious art; patience comes from understanding."
Yan Tingnan took the messy fishing rod from her hand, replaced it with his own professional stiff rod, and handed it over.
"First learn how to cast the rod, using your wrist to generate power and keeping your waist stable."
He turned to the side to demonstrate, his movements swift and decisive, the silver line piercing the air and falling towards the churning deep blue dozens of meters away.
"It's your turn."
He gave up his seat.
Su Ruan took the heavy pole and imitated his posture.
The rod was heavier than she had expected. The moment she cast it, she lost control of her wrist, and the fishing line drooped limply on the surface of the sea, like a half-dead water snake.
"With Assistant Su's strength, even catching shrimp would be difficult."
Yan Tingnan's voice brushed against her earlobe, carrying a hint of magnetic mockery.
"Come stand here."
Su Ruan obediently moved forward, her heels touching the gunwale.
Yan Tingnan wrapped his arms around her from behind.
He covered the back of her hand with his right hand and guided her to hold the rod, while his left hand went around her waist to secure the reel.
"Straighten your wrists and engage your core muscles."
Su Ruan's breath caught in her throat.
Her back was pressed against his firm chest, and through the thin knitted sweater, she could clearly feel his burning body temperature.
The strength of his arm carried her, guiding the rod tip to draw a full arc.
"Yes, that's it, loosen the thread."
The silver line cleaved through the sunlight, plunging into the deep blue of the distance with a whoosh.
Press here with your fingertip.
He pressed his thumb against the web of her hand, causing Su Ruan's heart to tighten.
He looked both abstinent and sensual.
She lost her focus and loosened her grip, causing the fishing rod tip to suddenly sink.
Distracted?
Yan Tingnan's breath brushed against the back of her ear.
"You'll compensate me if the fish gets away?"
Su Ruan tilted her head, her lips almost brushing against his jawline.
"I'll give you a mermaid in return."
