“Woof woof woof!”
There was some noise outside the yard. The mother dog suddenly raised her head from the food bowl, ran to the closed gate of the yard, and put on a defensive posture, barking fiercely. Little Candy, who was sitting under the eaves, was startled. He stood up from the steps in fear, walked into the house, put down the bowl of food, and closed the door. He looked out through the crack in the door, and his big grape-like eyes revealed visible fear.
"Little Candy, I'm the village chief, are you home?"
The village chief who was standing outside Little Tangguo's house listened to the barking of dogs which became louder and louder. He took a few steps back unconsciously. He was frightened and almost tripped over a stone and fell. Fortunately, he used his crutches to steady himself.
When Little Candy heard the familiar voice, his fear instantly relaxed, and was soon replaced by joy. He opened the door again, ran to Dahuang with his short legs, patted its head, and said in a baby voice, "Dahuang, don't be afraid, it's the village chief. He must be here to take me to see my mother!"
Dahuang seemed to understand. He barked once and turned back to his kennel to continue eating. Little Tangguo walked to the gate of the yard with his short legs, tiptoed to pull out the bolt. The door opened, and the amiable and kind face of the village chief appeared before him.
"Grandpa Village Chief, are you here to take me to see my mother?" Before the village chief could say anything, the little charcoal ball with carbon-black stove ash on his cheeks spoke in a baby voice, opened his big eyes full of expectation and looked at him naively and asked, "Can my mother come back and continue to teach me to read and write? I want to recite the poems I have memorized these days to her, she will definitely be very happy!"
The village chief looked at the cute and well-behaved little charcoal ball in front of him, reached out to wipe the stove ash off his cheek, and for a moment he didn't know how to explain to him that his mother, Teacher Yu Hongqing, the most respected teacher in the village, might never come back this time, and he came here just to take him to see her for the last time.
"Little Candy is really smart. The village chief is here to take you to see your mother," the village chief's eyes were red. He rubbed Little Candy's head and finally decided to keep it a secret from him. "Come with grandpa. Let's go take the bus together."
"Okay, Grandpa Village Chief, I want to get a gift for my mother."
Little Candy smiled excitedly and turned to go into the house. He didn't understand why the village chief was jealous. In his little world, seeing his mother and being with her all the time was the happiest thing in the world. Unfortunately, such happiness would soon become a bubble.
After Little Candy entered the house, she saw herself in the mirror on her mother's dressing table. She frowned, and with a hint of contemplation in her big wet eyes, she muttered to herself in a milky voice, "Little Candy has become a dirty child. Mommy doesn't like dirty children."
As Little Candy said this, he ran to the bathroom with a frown. He stepped on a small stool, stood in front of the sink, turned on the faucet, washed his face and hands, and then went back to the room to change into clean clothes.
Little Candy looked at herself in the mirror on her mother's dressing table, wearing an old tiger cotton coat. Her brows relaxed, and she showed her cute little tiger teeth with satisfaction. She smiled and said, "Little Candy has become a good baby that mom likes. It's time to go see mom! I'm so happy~"
Little Candy stood on tiptoe and picked up a glass bottle full of colorful plastic tube stars from the bedside table. Then she happily ran out of the house with her short legs and ran towards the village chief with a happy face.
"Grandpa Village Chief~ Let's take a car to see mom! Mom must have been waiting for me for a long, long time~"
Little Candy held the glass bottle in one hand and walked out holding the hand of the village chief with the other, completely immersed in the joy of seeing her mother soon.
"Hey, be good and wait for grandpa to close the door."
The village chief staggered and almost fell down after being dragged by Little Candy, but he did not blame the little guy. The little guy noticed his mistake, frowned and apologized to the village chief, "I'm sorry, Grandpa Village Chief, Little Candy shouldn't have pulled you, Little Candy should have supported you."
The village chief closed the door and turned around to see the little candy boy holding the glass jar with his head down and a guilty look on his face. When he heard his sensible words, his heart melted and the tears in his eyes gathered more and more.
"It's okay, dear. Come on, grandpa will take you to see your mother. Don't you want to see your mother?"
The village chief reached out and held Little Candy's hand and walked forward. Little Candy looked up at him in surprise, "Grandpa Village Chief, you don't blame Little Candy anymore?"
"Grandpa doesn't blame you. Our little Candy is so sensible and cute. Everyone who sees her will love her."
"Hehehe...thank you grandpa for forgiving little candy."
After getting forgiven by the village chief, little Candy became happy again. He couldn't help jumping while walking. He was going to see his mother, and this was the happiest thing in the world for him.
The village chief looked at Little Tangguo's joyful expression and felt more and more sad in his heart. However, he had no way to explain anything to him. He was still so young. If his mother was gone, how would he live?
Little Candy was very happy and got on the ox cart with the village chief. When they arrived at the county, the village chief took him on a bus for half an hour.
Along the way, the old and the child encountered all kinds of scenery. Little Candy kept her eyes on the window. Although her eyes were full of curiosity, she did not make a sound to disturb the tired village chief. She just sat there obediently, looking soft and cute.
When they arrived at the station, the village chief took little Tangguo off the bus and held his hand all the way to the county hospital. Little Tangguo was well-behaved and did not cry or make a fuss. He was very sensible.
"Doctor, do you know which ward Teacher Yu Hongqing is in?"
It was also the first time for the village chief to come to the county hospital. He was unfamiliar with the place and couldn’t find anyone when he entered the hospital. He met a doctor passing by in the lobby and asked him, but the doctor was not Yu Hongqing’s attending physician, so naturally he didn’t know.
"I don't know which ward he is in. You can go to the front desk to ask." The doctor felt sorry for the village chief, an old man, and a child. He pointed to the front desk for consultation. "It's in front. Ask them and they will help you check."
"Thank you, doctor."
"Thank you, Doctor Susu~"
As soon as the village chief finished his words of thanks, little Candy's soft and baby voice followed. His thanks had a sweet ending, which instantly aroused the fatherly feelings in the heart of this male doctor who was already a father. What's more, the little guy was very cute.
"You're welcome, you're really polite kid."
The doctor smiled and rubbed Little Tangguo's little head. After saying this in a soft voice, he turned around and left. He still had patients who needed treatment.
When the little Candy was touched on the head, her face turned red and she scratched her hair shyly. Her beautiful big eyes were filled with happiness and admiration. What her mother said was right. Polite children will be liked by adults. Her mother is so great. She knows everything!
The village chief brought little Tangguo to the consultation desk. Little Tangguo was too young and not tall enough, so the nurse didn't see him. However, in response to the village chief's questions, she still patiently helped him check.
"Grandpa, Ms. Yu Hongqing you're looking for is in Room 516 of the inpatient department. It's a little far from here. Let me help you get there. This way."
The nurse asked her colleague to temporarily guard the consultation counter while she walked out of the front desk. When she saw the little candy next to the village chief, she was a little surprised and couldn't help laughing, "Hey, there is such a cute child here. I didn't see him inside just now."
"Hello, sister."
As expected, little Candy grew up eating candies. His little mouth looks as if it was covered with honey, and he has a pair of innocent and pure big eyes, which makes it hard not to soften one's heart.
"Little boy, you are so cute. Come on, follow me with grandpa," the nurse was moved by the baby voice of little Tangguo. She couldn't help but pinch his face lightly, supported the village chief and looked back at him, "Be careful."
Little Candy nodded with a red face, and the little fat on her cheeks trembled, which made the nurse blush. If stealing children was not illegal, she would have put Little Candy in a sack and carried her home to raise her.
