Chapter 33 The New Teacher

The next morning.

Qin Sheng had just gotten out of Fu Jingheng's car when she saw the woman standing in the distance.

She paused, then closed the car door.

Through the gap between the car door that opened and closed quickly, Wen Muyun seemed to see a vaguely familiar face flash past her eyes, and she frowned slightly.

As she was reminiscing, Qin Sheng walked up to her and said, "Teacher Wen."

Wen Muyun snapped out of her daze and nodded at her: "Come to my office first."

Qin Sheng paused only briefly before following after him.

A few minutes later.

"It's about the comprehensive knowledge competition for high school students in China that I mentioned to you last time. The competition date has been set for December."

Wen Muyun pushed a registration form in front of Qin Sheng, her expression serious: "The teacher has been keeping this registration form for you. I still hope you can register."

He glanced at the girl after speaking, and seeing that she had lowered her eyes and was not saying anything, he continued.

"The rewards for this competition are quite generous. In addition to the fixed prize money and trophy, the most important thing is that the tenth to second place winners will receive 10 to 50 points of bonus on their college entrance examination, and the first place winner will even get a direct admission to Tiandu University."

"Although the teacher doesn't know why you submitted blank papers for the past two years, the teacher knows that it doesn't reflect your true abilities."

“Sheng Sheng, you entered No. 1 High School with the top score in Ancheng’s middle school entrance exam, and your teacher also hopes that you can leave No. 1 High School with the top score in Ancheng’s college entrance exam.”

"This competition is really a great opportunity."

An opportunity for you to silence the doubters and prove yourself.

Wen Muyun didn't say the last sentence, but Qin Sheng understood.

To be honest, she didn't care about being questioned or proven, but...

Qin Sheng stared down at the registration form in front of her for a long while before reaching out and picking it up.

She casually stuffed the registration form into her pocket and nodded her snow-white chin: "I understand."

Wen Muyun's eyes suddenly lit up.

She hesitated for a moment, but still called out to Qin Sheng before she left.

Qin Sheng turned her head, her eyes filled with questions.

Wen Muyun pursed her lips and asked cautiously, "Can you tell the teacher why you suddenly changed your mind?"

"Is it because..." She carefully observed Qin Sheng's expression and lowered her voice, "...the Pei family?"

He had barely finished speaking when he met the girl's indifferent eyes, which were devoid of any emotion.

She paused for a moment, then smiled: "Sorry, teacher, you asked an unnecessary question. Go back to class."

Qin Sheng nodded and looked away.

Watching the girl's figure disappear through the door, Wen Muyun finally felt relieved.

So much has happened to Qin Sheng lately, it's impossible for Wen Muyun, as her homeroom teacher and half-friend, not to worry at all.

After all, she was just a seventeen-year-old girl, still in the most sensitive and vulnerable period of her life, yet she suffered repeated injustices, expulsions, and cyberbullying from her adoptive parents. Wen Muyun felt that no one could truly pretend that nothing had happened.

Even if that person is Qin Sheng.

But now she knows that Qin Sheng really doesn't care.

Or rather, she never cared.

To her, the Pei family was nothing more than another family she was somewhat familiar with.

They are not worth her making changes for them.

So... why did she change her mind?

Wen Muyun was filled with curiosity, but he couldn't figure it out no matter what he did.

Meanwhile, Qin Sheng, who was being nagged by Wen Muyun, took out her phone after leaving the office. She opened WeChat and tapped the top WeChat account, which was named "My Daughter is the Best in the World".

The lowest one is a message received ten minutes ago.

My daughter is the best in the world: [Sheng Sheng, Mommy feels like she has a disease that makes it hard to breathe if she doesn't see you. Mommy has been having trouble breathing for four days now, and she's about to run out of breath...]

A subtle emotion flickered across Qin Sheng's face as she typed: 【So?】

My daughter is the best in the world: "So... Mommy wants to pick you up from school, is that okay?"

My daughter is the best in the world: [Poor thing.jpg]

Qin Sheng paused for a moment: [Okay]

Then came a series of phone vibration sounds.

【I love you so much.jpg】

Qin Sheng glanced at the emojis that kept popping up at the bottom of the screen, her brow twitched, and she turned off the power button.

Heartless and indifferent.

A smile curved at the corners of her lips, a smile she herself didn't even realize.

The girl's delicate face remained as aloof as ever, but the ice and snow in her eyes melted away, replaced by a warmth reminiscent of the chill of early spring.

Yes, she's actually pretty great.

*

When Qin Sheng arrived at the classroom, half of the first class had already started. It was still an English class, but the teacher was no longer Liang Shuzhen.

The last time the incident on Weibo trended, it caused quite a stir. All of Liang Shuzhen's vulgar and abusive language was posted online, and her past actions of verbally abusing and physically punishing students, as well as secretly soliciting "gifts" from parents, were also brought up.

This is not something that can be solved by simply suspending classes for a few days.

The school issued a suspension notice to Liang Shuzhen, and it is still unknown when she will be able to return, or even if she will be able to return at all.

Therefore, the English teacher of Class 1 was naturally changed. The new teacher was named Lin Zhou, a young male teacher who had just graduated from university a few years ago.

She was pretty and refined, and most importantly, she had a good personality. She was much better than Liang Shuzhen, who always had a long face and scolded people. The students in the class all liked this new teacher.
