Chapter 532 Qin Sheng and Zhen Zhu

Jin Chu led Qin Sheng and Fu Jingheng to a rather secluded old residential area. After finding one of the buildings, they went all the way to the roof before stopping.

His gaze swept over Qin Sheng, finally settling on Fu Jingheng behind her: "Zhuzhu, he..."

Before he could finish speaking, Fu Jingheng had already taken a step back and nodded to Qin Sheng, saying, "I'll wait for you at the door."

Qin Sheng responded and gestured for Jin Chu to open the door.

Jin Chu breathed a sigh of relief and then took a step forward.

Instead of opening the door directly, he knocked lightly and said in a soft voice, "Zhuzhu, is that your brother? Is your brother coming in?"

There was no answer.

Jin Chu breathed a sigh of relief and took out her keys from her pocket.

The door opened, just wide enough for one person to pass through. Jin Chu nodded to Qin Sheng with an apologetic expression.

Qin Sheng didn't mind and slipped into the room through the crack in the door.

The room was pitch black, with no lights on and the curtains drawn tightly, not a single ray of light could get in; it was almost impossible to see your hand in front of your face.

Jin Chu hesitated for a moment, thinking he would ask Qin Sheng to wait there while he went to talk to Zhen Zhu first, and then turn on the lights to lead her over.

But before she could speak, she heard faint footsteps, which gradually faded away.

Jin Chu was stunned for a moment, then realized something and hesitated before taking a step out.

On the other side, Zhenzhu huddled in a corner against the headboard, hugging her knees with both hands, burying her head in her knees.

Suddenly, she looked up, her dark almond-shaped eyes fixed on the door in the darkness. After about five or six seconds, her pupils contracted, and her voice became uncontrollably sharp: "Who?! Brother, who did you bring?"

The answer she received wasn't the familiar gentle and patient male voice, but a clear and cold female voice.

And she knew that voice all too well.

It's Qin Sheng.

Qin Sheng said, "It's me."

Zhen Zhu's pupils trembled, and she instinctively pulled the blanket from a short distance away, covering herself completely. Only her muffled voice could be heard: "Get out! Get out!"

Qin Sheng stopped in her tracks. After a long while, long enough that Zhen Zhu thought she had already left, the girl's clear and calm voice rang out again, saying, "Don't hide anymore, I've already seen you."

Zhenzhu's body stiffened.

The tightly clenched blanket slowly slipped from Qin Sheng's hands, and Zhen Zhu's image reappeared in his eyes.

Bathed in moonlight streaming through the curtains that Jin Chu had just pulled open a crack, it revealed a strangely ferocious and wretched appearance.

The girl's once beautiful hair was gone, revealing a large expanse of exceptionally white scalp, which was shockingly marked by tiny bloodstains.

Her delicate face was now swollen to twice its usual size, with a patch of edema under her fair skin, and tiny red or blue veins visible.

And the body, limbs...

Zhen Zhu looked as if she had been inflated, and her size was more than twice that of the last time Qin Sheng saw her.

Qin Sheng looked at her quietly.

The veil covering her mind was lifted, and distant memories gradually surfaced, while Zhenzhu's figure shrank before her eyes.

What appeared before Qin Sheng was a petite figure who was only five or six years old.

It was herself.

She used to be like that.

As her thoughts returned, a turbulent undercurrent seemed to surge within those clear, black and white almond-shaped eyes.

She stepped forward, her voice unusually gentle, and said, "Don't move."

Zhen Zhu paused in her attempt to resist, and in that moment of hesitation, Qin Sheng grabbed her wrist.

The next moment, a peculiar flow of energy surged through her skin into her meridians and blood vessels, and then slowly flowed through her entire body with the flow of blood.

Zhenzhu felt that the pain and soreness that had plagued her for the past two weeks, like gnats on her bones, were gradually fading away.

Although it still hurts and is still uncomfortable, it's much better than before... at least it's within her tolerance range.

Zhen Zhu mechanically turned her head to look at Qin Sheng, completely stunned: "You..."

He only managed to utter one word before he could no longer continue.

It's not that I don't want to talk, but I don't know where to begin.

Qin Sheng lifted his eyelids to glance at her, continuing to channel spiritual energy into her body while taking her pulse and diagnosing her condition. He casually asked, "When did this start?"

Jin Chu was stunned from the moment Zhen Zhu quieted down, and only now did she come to her senses. Hearing this, she thought Qin Sheng was asking when Zhen Zhu's attack started, and immediately replied, "Shortly after the exam, on February 2nd."

Qin Sheng didn't look at him, but continued to quietly gaze at Zhen Zhu.

The girl had almond-shaped eyes very similar to hers, but they were darker and brighter, as if they contained a sky full of starlight.

Zhen Zhu's heart stirred.

She bit her lip and slowly said, "Four years ago."

Perhaps because she hadn't spoken much lately, and because she had lost control of her voice in her emotional state earlier, Zhenzhu couldn't help but cough after only saying three words.

It took him a while to stop coughing, and then he looked at Qin Sheng again.

I didn't see the disdain, doubt, contempt, or pity I had imagined in the other person's eyes, only a calm and undisturbed atmosphere.

And very subtly, mild.

Zhen Zhu's heart skipped a beat again, and she suddenly said, "It's you, isn't it?"

Qin Sheng stared at her intently for a long time before answering, "It's me."

Meeting the girl's broken gaze, Qin Sheng's lips curved into a slight smile. After a pause, he said, "I'm sorry."

Zhen Zhu's gaze shifted dramatically, but finally settled into a calm expression.

She shook her head: "It has nothing to do with you."

If anyone has a problem, it's just bad luck.

The emotions that had just risen in her heart subsided. Zhenzhu took a deep breath and said again, "As a fellow victim, I have no reason to blame you."

Qin Sheng didn't say anything more, but continued to send spiritual energy into her body.

Jin Chu was confused by their conversation, but after calming down and reflecting on it, she finally vaguely understood what was going on.

But this realization made his heart tremble.

Unable to contain himself, he asked, "What...what do you mean by this?"

Zhen Zhu glanced at Qin Sheng, thought for a moment, and then slowly spoke.

“As I said, after those people captured me, they often injected me with strange drugs. During that time, I overheard them chatting and they mentioned that those drugs were made from the blood of someone they had been trying to capture, just to see if they could transform me into that person’s appearance.”

There are a few more things to say.

For example, some people lamented that she was unlucky because she looked somewhat similar to that person, which is why she was chosen and arrested.

For example, that person was so abnormal that not only did he escape from them, but he also rescued several genetically modified people.

For example, they suffered great losses because of that person, and the people above were very angry.

There are many, many more.

Zhenzhu learned of that person's existence.

She didn't know who "that person" they were talking about was before, but now...

Zhen Zhu turned her gaze to Qin Sheng, her expression extremely complicated.
