Chapter 36: Discussing Embroidery

The pig meal was eaten with great enthusiasm. Adults and children alike each had a bowl of stewed pork bones with sauerkraut and a big stew of pork offal. Some took it home and added some vegetables to continue cooking, so that the whole family could enjoy the meal to their heart's content.

The careless one just sat on the made-up dining table with a big bowl in his hand, snoring without even looking up.

"Finally I can eat meat. I'm dying for this taste!"

"Wow, the last time I ate meat was when the team slaughtered a pig during Chinese New Year last year. It's been almost a year. Damn, I've almost forgotten what meat tastes like."

"It's not the same for everyone. I usually can't catch some wild game for a snack, but today I finally get to eat some meat!"

In the countryside, you have to be self-sufficient in everything. Vegetables are not so difficult, as every household has its own private plot and can grow more to feed the whole family.

The only bad thing is that they can't eat the pigs they raise themselves, they have to hand them in. They have to keep the chickens and ducks for laying eggs, so they can't bear to eat them. They are not allowed to catch fish in the river, and they can't catch wild boars in the mountains. They get their work points and hope to get paid at the end of the year. On weekdays, they have no money or tickets, and they can't buy anything to satisfy their cravings at the supply and marketing cooperative because they have no tickets.

"Ask the captain if he's organizing the autumn hunting in the mountains this year?"

"I guess it's uncertain. Let's wait a little longer. Winter fishing will start soon, and there will be fish to eat after the winter fishing."

"The winter fishing you mentioned is still two months away!"

Speaking of winter fishing, the topic changed again and everyone started talking about the interesting things that happened during last year's winter fishing.

Wei Ci quietly dropped the fat meat under the table, pretending not to care. Occasionally, a drop of spiritual spring water dripped from her fingertips. The two big dogs squatting beside her just opened their mouths and waited, their tails wagging wildly while eating, their eyes slightly narrowed, and they looked very enjoyable.

"Woof!" So delicious! So happy! So comfortable!

Wei Ci was slapped on the head, and Wei Qingfeng's helpless voice came: "If you don't want to eat it, put it in the bowl or pass it to me. If others see you, they will definitely talk behind your back."

Everyone else was eager to finish their bowl, but she was picky about food. If those gossips saw this, they would definitely accuse her of being pretentious and wasting food.

Wei Ci smiled foolishly, silently withdrew her hand, and pretended to lower her head to eat seriously.

Seeing that there was no food, the two dog heads lay down in disappointment, staring at her with their two big black and white eyes.

On the other side, Uncle Wei sent Wei Qingmiao, who was more of a hindrance than an advantage, to the barefoot doctor, and threw Aunt Wei, who had embarrassed him at his grandmother's house, next to his daughter.

"You and your daughter are here to bring bad luck to me, right? It's a happy day when I finally get to eat meat, and you two insist on making things difficult for me! Do I owe you something in my past life?"

"Her father, how can you say that? I'm just worried about my daughter..."

Uncle Wei waved his hand and looked at her bruised face with disgust.

"Don't talk! You're so ugly! My son has green flowers and green grass watching over him. You and your daughter should go home and avoid going out after you recover from your injuries! You're such a disgrace."

After saying that, he didn't even say goodbye and rushed out of the door holding his arms. He was still thinking about those big pots of meat.

There was a bone-chilling coldness in Wei Qingmiao's lowered eyes. This was the father she had saved, and he didn't care about anyone except himself.

"Mom, do you still want to continue living with a man like this?"

Aunt Wei was stunned. Looking at her eldest daughter's angry expression, she suddenly felt a little nervous.

"Miao, your father didn't mean it. He was just beaten too badly by your eldest cousin and he's in a bad mood."

Wei Qingmiao sneered: "Is he in a bad mood? He doesn't have you in his heart at all. If you ask me, it's better to divorce him. A man like him lives only for himself..."

Bang!

Wei Qingmiao was stunned. He covered his face which was hurt from being hit and looked at his mother in disbelief, with some hurt in his eyes.

Second Aunt Wei looked uneasy for a moment, then she spoke harshly: "Wei Qingmiao! Is this what I taught you? He's your biological father! What father in the world doesn't love his own children? Your father is just a little crazy, he will be fine after a while, don't let me hear you say those nonsense again, or I will not forgive you!"

Wei Qingmiao lowered her eyes and suppressed the anger that was welling up in her heart and made her feel like a lump in her throat. She knew that no matter how much she said, her mother would not listen, so why waste her breath.

The scene instantly became quiet. The mother and daughter were silent, each with their own thoughts. Only Wei Qingmiao's clenched hands hanging by her legs revealed her restlessness.

Uncle Wei dragged his injured arms and legs and rushed back to the wheat field without stopping.

However, when he limped to the wheat field, he was shocked to find that there were only a few people there cleaning up the mess. Not to mention several big pots of meat, he couldn't even see a piece of sauerkraut.

"Where's the meal? Where's the pig-killing meal?"

Uncle Wei grabbed the man who was cleaning, looking anxious and confused.

"Hey, isn't this Wei Lao Er? You're back! Why are you back so late? The place has been dispersed, and they said the meat is gone, but there's not much left even for the vegetables and soup. You're back late."

You're back late...

I'm back late...

It’s too late…

...

"Did the captain leave any for me? I told him to save a bowl for me!"

Uncle Wei was not giving up. He grabbed the man and started to get to the bottom of the matter, insisting that he be taken to get the bowl of meat that the captain had left for him.

"What are you dreaming about in broad daylight? I'm leaving you another bowl? You're overthinking it. This isn't even enough. How dare you leave me another bowl?"

The man rolled his eyes at him, turned around and went about his own business, too lazy to say another word to him, leaving Second Uncle Wei alone in the wind.

Wei Ci returned home with two big dogs that refused to go with Uncle Hai.

"Come, put on your doudou and eat."

She took out two handkerchiefs she had made in her spare time and tied one around the neck of each of the two big dogs. The lifelike camellia embroidery on the handkerchiefs sparkled in the sunlight.

He took out the vegetable juice packed from the wheat field and mixed it with some cooked potatoes and sweet potatoes and brought it to Tianyuanfangdi. Facing the pitiful and expectant eyes of the two dogs, Wei Ci smiled knowingly and secretly added a few drops of spiritual spring water into it.

"Oh my God! Ah Ci! You are wasting nature's gift!"

Wei Man was stunned from the beginning, and then he simply sat down in front of the dog bowl, wanting to reach out and untie the handkerchief from the dog's neck, but was warned as expected, and was frightened by the low whimpering of the two big dogs and withdrew his hand.

"Don't be like you two. Why are you still looking at other people's preferences? How could such an upright man like Uncle Hai raise such snobbish bastards like you two?"

After being scolded, Tianyuandiang rolled his eyes at Wei Man, turned around and faced her with his butt, which made her very angry.

"What...what happened?"

Wei Ci was confused. What was going on? Was there something wrong with the handkerchief?

"Aci, the handkerchief around that dog's neck is Su embroidery, right? Judging from the stitching, it should be Su embroidery. Where did it come from? Also, the fabric seems to be satin, right? Hiss! Where did this prodigal son come from?"
