Chapter 41 Will the Ancestor be in trouble?
The old ancestor was determined to die.
Duan Jiuyou did hope that Dijiang would succeed soon, but Dijiang was still full of hostility. If he were to reclaim Tianjing in this way, how would he be any different from when he seized Tianjing?
He still cannot tolerate those who are not of his kind, and he will continue to exterminate the dragon race!
"Too fierce..."
When she had no other choice, she always liked to call him by his courtesy name. Before, she called him that to try to get closer to him, but now she called him that because she suddenly felt that he was a stranger.
As if seeing through her worries, Di Jiang placed a wolf paw on the back of her hand.
"When two races clash, there will inevitably be casualties. It's useless for you to worry about these things in advance. If that day comes, I will make you a promise. If you ask, I will keep it."
The scene was somewhat comical. Duan Jiuyou looked at Di Jiang's furry "little hands," and although he wasn't sure how much of what Di Jiang said was true, he was still somewhat comforted.
Duan Jiuyou thought to himself that perhaps things weren't as bad as he imagined. After all, he had left room for maneuver for himself, for those around him, and even for Xiao Siji and Liu Tianshi.
The spiritual power she obtained this time could at most restore half of Di Jiang's primordial spirit. She still had time to "rebuild" a benevolent heart in him. Besides, Di Jiang might not be as ruthless as he appeared.
"What if this request is excessive?" Jiuyou asked, relaxing.
"How outrageous can it be?" Di Jiang chuckled, his voice wavering. "It's nothing more than sparing this person's life and ensuring that the other doesn't die."
Can she really hide her feelings for Bai Yanxing and the Dragon Clan from him?
"That's not necessarily true. Maybe I'm ambitious and want to become the ruler of the Heavenly Realm. I'd like to ask the Desolate Lord to abdicate in my favor and become my loyal subject?" Duan Jiuyou cleverly asked, looking at Dijiang with a big smile on his face.
The emperor remained noncommittal, so Duan Jiuyou changed the subject.
"Is there really no flaw in the sealing technique on Siji? Bai Yanxing is a magic cultivator after all, aren't you afraid he'll see through it?"
"Didn't the fragments of the barrier in Zhaozhao City also arouse his suspicion? Give him some time to think it over, and if he really can't figure it out, then give him an answer."
What answer?
Duan Jiuyou leaned against him on the soft pillow, and the two talked face to face.
"An answer that, while questionable, is still plausible."
The Emperor kept the details a secret, perhaps because there was too much to cover and he was too lazy to elaborate.
He was a man of few words. Today’s conversation with Duan Jiuyou had already been too much for him. He was used to making decisions independently and only gave orders to his subordinates, without consulting them.
Di Jiang refused to speak, and Duan Jiuyou did not feel comfortable pressing for details, but simply sighed, "I never imagined that so many things would happen in just a few days."
Di Jiang yawned and squinted his wolf-like eyes as he reminded Duan Jiuyou, "You've been courting death for eight days straight."
These words sounded like a rebuke for her inaction.
Duan Jiuyou blinked and took the initiative to admit his mistake.
"I was indeed quite focused on dying and didn't notice what was happening outside. I really didn't expect something to happen in Zhaozhao City. Speaking of which, I have to thank you. If you hadn't sealed Xiao Siji's mind, I probably wouldn't have been able to leave Longsheng Palace today."
"But you're partly to blame in this matter. If you hadn't handed Siji over to Bai Yanxing, then Siji—"
Duan Jiuyou stopped and thought for a moment.
It seems there are only two possible outcomes for Siji: either she is captured by Qi Xinghe's people and silenced along with Liu Tianshi, or she is captured by the people of Tianjing and forced to implicate her and Dijiang.
Ultimately, it was Emperor Jiang who saved their lives.
Duan Jiuyou wanted to praise Di Jiang, but when he turned to look at him, he found that Di Jiang had already fallen asleep. His body had been extremely weak since he damaged his primordial spirit, and he must have consumed a lot of spiritual power in order to seal Xiao Siji without leaving a trace.
She lay on the pillow, looking at his sleeping wolf face, and still felt that he should become a dog.
Dogs are so well-behaved, unlike wolves which are so sharp, but this wolf...
She grabbed his little wolf paw; his paw pads were cold, he was still afraid of the cold.
She pulled him closer to her, initially holding him loosely, but after hearing his comfortable purring, she hugged him tighter and tighter still.
There was something she forgot to tell him.
She was quite happy that he could come in person.
Duan Jiuyou fell asleep while holding Di Jiang.
He slept so soundly that he slept from day to night. The disciples were worried that something had happened to their ancestor, so they would always press their faces against the peach blossom silk paper and look inside when they passed by the door.
"If all else fails, let's rush in and take a look."
"Charge again? Have you forgotten how we flew out?"
"We can't just wait like this, can we? There were voices at first, but then it stopped."
The disciples were extremely worried. The palace gate had been broken down once before. The little wolf was incredibly fierce. All they knew was that the ancestor was arguing with it. The little wolf was aggressive and clearly not an ordinary person. Some of them flew away, while others fell. Although it didn't hurt, they knew in their hearts that they couldn't beat it.
"It's already night, and there are no lamps lit in the palace. What are we doing in the dark?"
"Will the ancestor be alright?"
"I don't know, but what could possibly happen to our ancestor?"
That's a question you'll have to ask yourselves!
What could possibly happen to her?
They won't die or get hurt.
Duan Jiuyou himself was muddle-headed, and the disciples he taught were also unusually foolish. They were clearly a group of immortal and indestructible beings, yet they possessed a cautious and timid heart.
Di Jiang was awakened by footsteps outside the door.
He was a light sleeper, unlike Duan Jiuyou who slept very well. Annoyed by their noise, he got up and "lit" a lamp.
The light shone on the people, turning them into two shadows on the silk paper. When the disciples looked out the window, their eyes widened in surprise.
The thin silk paper, like a light mist, reveals a man and a woman on the bed.
The man leaned back on the small couch with his elbow bent and one knee bent, in a casual posture. A woman was fast asleep in front of him, her clothes disheveled, and one leg was draped over the man's waist. The man seemed to be touching her long hair, and the scene was filled with infinite romance.
"This... the little wolf has grown up??"
The disciples blushed, none of them having imagined that the inner hall, behind closed doors, contained such a sensual scene.
The inner courtyard is managed by female disciples; male disciples cannot enter and can only wait for news outside. As soon as they saw light coming from inside the courtyard, they immediately asked.
"How is our ancestor? Has that ferocious beast grown bigger? I bet it's no ordinary beast; I hope it doesn't swallow our ancestor whole again!"
They burst through the gate, startling the inner disciples who quickly turned around to stop them.
The scene inside the hall was far too erotic for them to peruse one by one. The inner disciples all gave the same answer: "It's alright, it's alright! The Ancestor is currently... practicing a secret technique. We shouldn't disturb him. Go and rest!"
"Secret techniques? Our ancestor doesn't even have an inner core, what kind of secret techniques could he be cultivating?" Someone outside the courtyard didn't believe it and pressed on, "How is that ferocious beast?"
The inner disciples were in an awkward situation.
What are they supposed to say? Are they supposed to say that the ferocious beast transformed into a grown man and was "completely devoured" by the ancestor?
Duan Jiuyou's reputation for being a womanizer was well-known, which naturally led his disciples to assume that he was their patriarch's new lover. However, they couldn't openly proclaim this, so they could only remain vague.
"It's probably subdued, oh well, never mind!"
With that, he gave a strong push, and with a mix of shouting and yelling, they were all taken away.
Di Jiang smiled faintly: "Your disciples are quite sensible."
Jiuyou was fast asleep and naturally did not reply.
Di Jiang grabbed a strand of Duan Jiuyou's black hair and wrapped it around his hand. It was soft, smooth, and silky, like a piece of silk wrapped around his hand.
He casually played with her hair, and whether it was the movement of her long hair that woke her up or the glaring candlelight in the room, Duan Jiuyou briefly opened her eyes, mumbled something, and then buried her head in his chest and fell asleep again.
When she was obedient, she was incredibly endearing, even the aloof Lord of the Wasteland couldn't help but smile. However, this smile didn't last long, as the unique medicinal fragrance of the Tiansheng Dragon Clan wafted into his nostrils, ruining his mood even with the beauty in his arms.
The smile in Di Jiang's eyes gradually turned cold. He got up from his bed and pushed open the palace door.
"Someone come here."
