Chapter 52
Old Man Wang's House
After Fang Xin finished dealing with matters at the villa, he took the dog and set off for his parents' home.
The dog can go out and play with its owner again, wagging its tail all the way.
Grandpa Li's injuries have healed and he just needs to have the stitches removed.
We should be able to move in two days at most.
Fang Xin brought the dog into the house. It was the first time she brought a dog to her second parents' home.
The dog sat obediently at Fang Xin's feet, not making any noise or trouble. He tilted his head, looking at Grandpa Li, then turned his head to look at Grandma Li.
The two elders couldn't help but like the dog when they saw it was so well-behaved and cute.
Grandma Li reached out her hand, wanting to touch the dog's head, but she was a little afraid to ask, "What's its name?"
"Tuntun."
"Tuntun," Grandma Li smacked her lips, "It sounds good."
Grandma Li controlled her hand that was about to stroke the dog and said to Grandpa Li, "Should I go ask Old Man Wang if he wants to go with us?"
Grandpa Li nodded and said, "Go ahead and ask."
"Okay, I'll go ask."
Fang Xin stood up and said, "I'll go with you. It's dark outside and I'm worried about you being alone."
Grandma Li nodded. "That's fine."
"Tuntun, do you want to go with us?" Grandma Li asked Gouzi softly as if she was coaxing a child.
"Woof."
The dog nodded and said it would go wherever its owner went.
When Grandma Li saw the dog nodding, she was surprised. "It can nod. It's so human."
"It learned it by itself! It's very smart."
Grandma Li agreed with a smile, "Yeah, my dog is really smart."
The two of them walked on the deserted street.
The cold wind was blowing against their backs.
Grandma Li also followed Old Man Wang's example and found a wooden stick to steady herself while walking.
Grandma Li didn't dare walk fast because the road was slippery in the snow and she could easily fall.
It took about 10 minutes to walk to Old Man Wang's house.
The two of them tacitly agreed not to say a word along the way. Who would have thought that they would have to be so cautious and stealthy when walking on this familiar street.
Old Man Wang's house, like his second elder's, is a brick-and-tile house with its own entrance and courtyard. Most of the houses in the town are brick-and-tile houses.
A faint firelight was reflected in the window.
The two bodies were stretched very long.
The person who opened the door was Old Man Wang’s grandson Xiao Kai.
"Grandma, you're here." Xiao Kai greeted her crisply.
When she saw Fang Xin, her eyes lit up and she immediately became alert. "Sister, it's really you."
Fang Xin nodded in response.
"Where's your grandfather?"
"Inside the house."
Two suppressed coughs were heard from the room.
"Brother, you have a cold."
Old man Wang waved his hands and said, "It's okay, come in quickly."
"Xinxin is here too." Old man Wang greeted her warmly.
Fang Xin nodded in response.
"Xiao Kai, add more firewood to the stove."
"Oh, okay." Xiao Kai responded excitedly.
After a while, he brought a small bundle of thin branches and deftly picked them up and put them into the stove. It seemed that he often helped with housework.
The dog leaned against Fang Xin's calf, looking at everything in the house with curiosity.
"Brother, do you want to leave here with us?"
Old boss Wang was surprised and asked, "Where are we going?"
"S City Northern Suburbs Villa"
"The villa in the northern suburbs," Old Man Wang muttered, "It's quite far from here!"
“It’s quite far.”
"When do you leave?"
"I plan to leave tomorrow or the day after tomorrow."
Old man Wang was excited, "Let's go, we'll follow you."
Xiao Kai added more firewood to the stove and poured two cups of hot water, "Grandma, sister, have some water."
Fang Xin took the cup of water and looked at the boy. "Thank you."
The boy scratched his head and smiled shyly, "You're welcome, sister."
"Pack up everything you need to bring tomorrow, and then we'll set off."
Old Man Wang nodded repeatedly, "Okay, okay, I'll clean it up tomorrow."
Grandma Li and Old Man Wang were chatting idly while Fang Xin just sat quietly beside them, warming himself by the fire and stroking the dog.
The young man looked at the dog for a while, then looked at Fang Xin, his eyes always falling on Fang Xin from time to time.
Fang Xin was also wondering why he always looked at her, but she didn't care.
After the two chatted for a while, Grandma Li stood up and said, "I have to go back. Remember to pack your things tomorrow and don't forget anything."
"good."
Bang!
At this moment, the door of the house was kicked open with great force.
Grandma Li was startled by the sudden noise and trembled slightly as she was about to stand up.
The young man protected his grandfather behind him and picked up branches from the ground to block in front of him.
The dog retracted its hanging tongue, closed its mouth, erected its ears, bared its fangs and growled, in full alert mode.
Fang Xin sat calmly on the stool and didn't move.
Two heavily armed men came in, revealing only a pair of fierce eyes, each holding a machete in his hand.
One of them was holding a bag in his hand and looked arrogant.
This bag should contain spoils of war, supplies looted from other people's homes.
The two of them were smashing and rummaging in the living room, not caring at all whether there was anyone in the house.
The two searched the living room and kitchen for a long time but couldn't find anything. "Damn, poor guy, why is there nothing?"
The leading man looked at them coldly, "Why don't you just hand over the supplies? Do you really have to force me to do it myself?"
The voice was filled with murderous intent, and Fang Xin knew that it was the aura of someone who had killed someone.
Old man Wang said in a trembling voice, "No, it's really gone this time."
The leading man spat, "Mad, you are shameless. Why are you living without food, you old fool."
"What bad luck."
Ding ding bang bang!
The leading man kicked things in the house angrily.
The man next to him immediately echoed loudly, "That's right, you always make us run for nothing, how dare you take out all the supplies quickly! Don't make our boss angry."
"Second brother, why are you wasting your time talking to them? Show them some color."
The leading man held his chin high, feeling as if he had the power of life and death in his hands. He could decide the life and death of others just by raising his hand.
I feel so awesome.
"Second brother, come on me."
The others were terrified when they heard this. They knew that this group of people really dared to take action and there was no such thing as mercy and kindness in their eyes.
Fang Xin sat steadily on the stool, stroking the dog with his hand.
The young man swallowed and subconsciously protected Old Man Wang as he stepped back.
Although Grandma Li was also frightened, she still stood in front of Fang Xin out of instinct.
The man called Lao Er came over with a machete in hand and looked ferocious. His eyes lit up when he saw the sleek dog behind Grandma Li.
"Brother, there is a dog here. We can eat dog meat."
"Why don't you bring the dog to me? Why do you want me to go there myself?"
"Okay, brother, just wait and see."
As he spoke, the man took a step forward again.
The dog lowered his body, ready to go.
Fang Xin stroked the dog's back, soothing its emotions.
"Get out of my way, old woman, and don't get in my way."
The timid Grandma Li was so frightened that her face turned pale and she couldn't utter a word.
"I'm talking to you, you fucking deaf old fool." He said this and was about to push Grandma Li.
