Chapter 143 Underground Gunpowder Depot

Chapter 143 Underground Gunpowder Depot

The importance of water will become increasingly apparent as time goes on after the apocalypse.

Originally, Mu Qingyu had stored up enough water for the two siblings to use until they died.

But with the addition of Han Yu and Jing Chen, Mu Qingyu felt that they couldn't completely ignore the lives of others.

In the apocalypse, having someone to fight alongside you is always better than fighting alone, right?

But where can we find clean water now?

The answer is various water towers!

Large public buildings, such as shopping malls, schools, factories, and skyscrapers, typically store water in large tanks at higher elevations or on rooftops.

It's only been a little over a month since the apocalypse, and the city has already been without water. If that water hasn't been used, it's basically from water stored up before the apocalypse.

All she has to do is retrieve the water, bucket and all, and connect it to her water purifier; it will then be completely clean and safe water.

Mu Qingyu drove the SUV at a leisurely pace. Their first stop was the village that Mu Qingrong and the others had visited.

Before setting off, Mo Huaiyu thoughtfully drew a route map for her. She didn't need to take detours while driving. When she encountered abandoned vehicles blocking the way, she would put them into her special ability space. When she encountered zombies, she would honk the horn to attract them, then quickly reverse the car and throw the abandoned vehicles out of her space to smash them.

Then put the vehicle away, reusing it as much as possible.

If you encounter a few zombies, just run them over with your car.

As Mu Qingyu drove along, it didn't feel like an adventure; rather, it felt like playing a large-scale live-action holographic game, which was quite enjoyable.

It only took Mu Qingyu two hours to reach the village.

The village is located just below the highway, nestled against a small hill, and built against the mountainside.

City A is located in the southern plains of the Dragon Kingdom, where hills and mountains are rare, and this place is home to a small hill.

The entire village consists of villa-style detached buildings. City A is wealthy, so such buildings are common and not unusual.

As Mu Qingrong said, there are only about twenty houses scattered throughout the area.

However, Mu Qingyu noticed an interesting phenomenon: these buildings were built at varying heights and looked messy and disorderly, but they all intentionally or unintentionally obscured the five-story building.

The entire layout looks as if these twenty buildings are guarding the five-story building.

Since Mu Qingrong and his group had already searched this place, there was nothing worth searching again, except for some things they couldn't take with them at the time.

Mu Qingyu simply took the things that Mu Qingrong and the others hadn't had time to take before heading straight for the five-story building.

Upon arriving at the entrance of the five-story building, Mu Qingyu remained vigilant, fearing that someone might jump out from inside, just like last time.

Of course, this did not happen.

The door to the house was unlocked, and most of the things inside had been taken away by Mu Qingrong and her group when they visited last time.

Mu Qingyu searched the house thoroughly but found nothing unusual.

"That shouldn't be the case!" Mu Qingyu returned to the first floor and wandered around, knocking and looking here and there. She felt that it was unreasonable for this house not to have a basement.

However, there was indeed no entrance to the basement on the first floor. Mu Qingyu even pried open the board under the stairs to check.

The ground floor is just a concrete floor.

Mu Qingyu was somewhat unwilling and went back to the second floor.

The first floor has a simple living room and kitchen, while the second floor has three rooms, which are ordinary bedrooms with simple beds and cabinets.

The metal frame bed is still there, but the bedding on the bed and the things in the cabinet have been taken away.

The second, third, and fourth floors are all the same, with identical bedrooms. This house doesn't look like a home; it looks more like a high-end staff dormitory!

The only difference is the fifth floor!

There is only one bedroom on the fifth floor; the rest is a huge room that is both an office and a study.

This place has also been searched, but there doesn't seem to be any supplies that anyone else needs; instead, there are some books scattered all over the ground.

Mu Qingyu picked up a book and looked at it. It seemed to be a chemical engineering book. Mu Qingyu recognized every single word on it when it was separated, but when they were put together, it was like a book written in a foreign language. Mu Qingyu was dizzy from looking at it.

This room must have been searched by someone else. Mu Qingrong definitely didn't search it, otherwise he would have taken a few books back with him.

They mainly couldn't carry too much stuff, so they could only take the essentials. But now that Mu Qingyu was here, things were different; she threw all the books into her spatial storage.

These books are probably the last treasure of human civilization.

With this in mind, Mu Qingyu suddenly had a new destination in mind—the City A Library!

Let's save as many of the books in there as we can. They represent the wealth of knowledge that humanity has accumulated over thousands of years. What if they're gone in the future?

Mu Qingyu emptied the books off the floor and the bookshelves. Then she stared blankly at the huge bookshelf that took up an entire wall—was this bookshelf against the mountain wall?

As if guided by some strange force, Mu Qingyu began to lean over the bookshelf, tapping here and there, examining it carefully.

Finally, in the corner closest to the wall, Mu Qingyu knocked on the back of a square, and a hollow, muffled sound came from behind it!

It's empty! There's nothing behind it!

Mu Qingyu fumbled around for a long time but couldn't find the mechanism. In a fit of anger, she took her military dagger and pierced through the grid.

The hardwood bookshelf was actually quite sturdy, but it couldn't withstand Mu Qingyu's physical abilities as a mutant.
