Chapter 144 Strange People

I don't know if it was because I survived in the base for too long afterward, but although life was still difficult, some of my earlier memories became blurred.

In my past life, I struggled to survive, but I never really paid attention to the changes in the city.

"It's just helping out with the physical labor," Mu Qingyu thought, urged by the girl. While keeping a watchful eye on herself, she actually went forward to help move the things.

After two trips, the five people who returned finally realized that Mu Qingyu was a stranger!

"Ah! Are you new here?" One of the men looked Mu Qingyu up and down in surprise.

Mu Qingyu was wearing a windproof jacket and pants. To prevent the wind and sand from getting in, she also wrapped herself up from head to neck with a headscarf, leaving only her eyes with goggles visible.

Before Mu Qingyu could figure out how to answer, the girl spoke first: "Brother Huang Jie, she just came to ask for help. I saw that she came on foot and killed a lot of zombies. She's pretty amazing."

"So, you were the one who killed those zombies outside. I thought Wenhao and the others had really made something of themselves, daring to go out and clear out the zombies!"

Upon hearing the name "Wenhao," the girl scoffed, "Them? They probably wouldn't even dare open the theater doors! They'd be terrified of zombies. I really don't know what Brother Xiao was thinking..."

Before the girl could finish speaking, Huang Jie sternly interrupted her: "Xiao Yin, don't talk nonsense, and don't make up stories about your Brother Xiao!"

The girl who was scolded wasn't angry or scared. She just stuck out her tongue, made a face, and continued moving things.

Of the five men who returned, two were responsible for guarding against and dealing with any zombies that tried to approach, while the other three, along with the girl and Mu Qingyu, were responsible for moving the items into the theater.

What puzzled Mu Qingyu was that even though these five people had clearly discovered she was a new stranger, they still showed absolutely no wariness towards her!

This feeling made her feel as if she had returned to a peaceful and prosperous world before the apocalypse...

Could it be that her wariness of strangers was actually a sign of her being petty? Mu Qingyu even felt a slight wavering for a moment.

They didn't bring back much stuff. The five of them carried it together, and it was done in less than ten minutes. Only then did the man named Huang Jie call everyone back into the theater.

Behind the theater's main entrance is a large exhibition hall.

Before the apocalypse, this was a place to display posters, accommodate visitors, and sell tickets.

The surroundings were now empty, and even the posters on the walls had been torn down. Mu Qingyu guessed that they had probably been used to start a fire.

Judging from their voices, the five people who went out were all men. Because they were going out, they were all wrapped up quite tightly. The only person whose face was visible was Xiaoyin, a pretty girl who opened the door.

Xiao Yin helped carry things for a while, and now her head is covered in yellow sand.

Back in the theater lobby, the first thing everyone did was shake off the yellow sand. Xiao Yin even made a "spit, spit, spit" sound, probably because sand got into her mouth.

Seeing that the others were starting to take off the clothes covering their heads, Mu Qingyu thought for a moment and then took off hers as well—it wasn't that she couldn't be seen by people, and she was uncomfortable after being wrapped up for most of the day.

"Wow! She really is a beautiful older sister! You're so amazing!" Xiao Yin exclaimed the moment she saw Mu Qingyu's true face.

Actually, Mu Qingyu wasn't exactly a beauty; in the past, her appearance could only be described as slightly above average.

Without nice clothes to match or makeup to dress up, the only evaluation is "pleasant to look at".

However, after the apocalypse in this life, Mu Qingyu can be said to have never experienced hardship. Everything she is experiencing now is just a trial on her path to becoming stronger.

She has her own space, no worries about food or drink, and during this time at home, she's been fed without restraint by Xiao Ai, the chef.

He spends his free time in the pleasant climate of his space, and when he gets bored, he picks up some of the fruits and vegetables grown there and munches on them. His life is incredibly comfortable.

With her physical abilities now approaching level three, not to mention that it's only been less than two months since the apocalypse, she can already crush many people with her strength and speed alone.

Not to mention she also possesses level three fire-electric abilities and level three spatial abilities, as well as the Sky Crossbow, Molotov cocktails, and even explosives hidden in the Blood Jade Space...

In short, it's all about confidence! Confidence stems from strength, and confidence always makes one shine.

Mu Qingyu did not respond to Xiaoyin's enthusiasm. She was not used to Xiaoyin's overly familiar nature. Instead, she began to observe the other five people.

The other five people were all young men, all under thirty years old, and of varying heights and appearances.

However, one of the men, with his striking features and bronze skin, seemed to be the leader of the group.

When these people saw Mu Qingyu, they were also somewhat surprised, but not as exaggerated as Xiao Yin.

"Are you someone who lives nearby?" the bronze-skinned man asked Mu Qingyu first.

Because Mu Qingyu's current appearance doesn't seem like someone who has traveled a long way, nor does she resemble someone who wanders around seeking refuge.

Mu Qingyu shook her head: "I come from the suburbs. My home is in the suburbs, but there are no supplies there, so I have to go into the city to look for them."

She had originally intended to lie and say she lived nearby and was out looking for supplies. But then she thought, she wasn't familiar with the area at all. What if she casually mentioned a neighborhood and someone from that neighborhood happened to be there? How embarrassing would that be?

So when she said she lived in the suburbs, she was telling the truth.
