Chapter 183 The Army?

Of course, that's a story for another time. But that's what Mu Qingyu meant when she said they were still soldiers.

After the captain finished explaining, he felt comfortable asking Mu Qingyu, "Which village are you from? How many people are left? Have you organized a defense?"

Now it was Mu Qingyu's turn to be on guard: "Why are you asking about the village? The village has no conflict with you! I was the one who arrived at Huisheng Garden first! I was just unlucky and encountered the big rat first..."

Mu Qingyu's sudden alertness startled the captain for a moment. Then he remembered what some survivors had told him—that in the apocalypse, some people would team up to rob others!

They outnumbered us and had guns. They asked us a lot of questions, including the location and defenses of the village...

It looks like they're deliberately trying to gather information... No wonder they suddenly became wary...

"I didn't mean anything by it, I just wanted to know about your situation... no, I just wanted to know if you need help..." No, that didn't sound right either; he seemed to be making things worse by trying to explain himself.

Sure enough, Mu Qingyu's face turned very serious: "Our village is perfectly fine, we don't need any help. We'll find our own supplies." She didn't mention the village's situation again.

In truth, Mu Qingyu wasn't truly that wary; she simply hadn't fully ascertained these people's backgrounds and character. She had to appear vigilant, otherwise she would become the suspicious one!

Seeing Mu Qingyu's expression, the captain decided it wasn't appropriate to continue inquiring about the village, so he deliberately changed the subject and asked, "Did you find any supplies here?"

His question was completely unnecessary. He could easily find out whether there were any supplies here by having someone break into a warehouse.

But when the topic shifted to Huisheng Garden, Mu Qingyu became much more talkative. She pointed behind her and said, "We managed to pry open two warehouses. One was empty, and the other was a warehouse full of toilet paper... and then we pried open the warehouse with rats..."

She thought for a moment, then said in a seemingly complaining tone, "You came at just the right time... Just when I had almost finished cleaning up the big rats, you came to pick up the scraps... More than a thousand big rats, I killed them all night..."

Although the captain was taken aback by Mu Qingyu's words, he was still very surprised: "More than a thousand mutated rats? You killed them all?! How did you do that?"

"It wasn't that difficult, I ran faster than them. And most of them were in the wine warehouse at the time, I blew up a lot of them in one go." Mu Qingyu said, then pointed to another warehouse emitting black smoke.

That was the former biscuit warehouse. After the roof was burned through, it was hit by torrential rain, and the fire is now slowly being extinguished. However, the flames in the liquor warehouse are still raging; with so much high-concentration alcohol, it won't burn out anytime soon.

"It seems like that used to be their lair? Anyway, I saw a lot of big rats scurrying into that warehouse, so I burned the warehouse down too, killing a lot of them. The rats on the road were blown up with Molotov cocktails, and they started setting each other on fire..."

“Then I slowly burned the fish that escaped the net… Just when I had almost killed them all, you guys arrived…” Mu Qingyu said, her tone tinged with frustration.

The captain didn't know what to say, so he could only laugh awkwardly and say, "Ha, what a coincidence!"

That's what they said, but the captain was already thinking it over. They came here intentionally, naturally for the supplies. It's the apocalypse now, and there's no such thing as first come, first served. It's impossible for them to just leave like this.

While the captain was still pondering this, his soldiers had already opened three warehouses in succession. One was empty, and in the other two, someone shouted, "Instant noodles! This place is full of instant noodles! Half a warehouse is full of instant noodles!" "There's also food here, but it's all kinds of puffed snacks, though there's oatmeal and milk powder."

Mu Qingyu gritted her teeth inwardly. In fact, she only had five warehouses left to open, and now the soldiers had opened three of them.

Instant noodles are actually a good thing; they're like currency in the apocalypse, you can exchange them for anything.

The soldiers were very excited, but the captain was slightly embarrassed. Seeing that his men had already started moving things out, he didn't stop them. He just smiled at Mu Qingyu and said, "How about I leave you a few boxes?"

Mu Qingyu looked at him coldly, pursed her lips, but said, "Fine, I won't look anymore. You guys look. Whatever you find, share some with me, okay?" She spread her hands: "Anyway, I don't have the strength to pick the lock now."

She didn't want the other party to haggle with her, so she added, "If I hadn't killed those big rats and had run back myself, the people in my village would probably be here by now."

The captain really couldn't say much more, because if Mu Qingyu hadn't arrived here first, encountered the mutated rats, and cleared them out, then they would have been the ones to encounter the mutated rats!

If they had encountered each other, who knows what a fierce battle it would have been... It wouldn't have been so smooth sailing now...

“Alright…” the captain said.

Mu Qingyu nodded and pointed in a direction: "I have a car over there, I need to drive it over." Actually, she didn't have a car parked there. As soon as she arrived at Huisheng Garden, she put her SUV back into her spatial storage.

I'm going to find a quiet corner now and put another car out.

Since Mu Qingyu was pretending to be a scout from a nearby village, she naturally couldn't bring out her luxurious SUV. Instead, she picked out a not-so-new minivan from her spatial storage.

Of course, we should choose a minivan—it can carry supplies!

Of course, a big truck can carry more! But would it be appropriate for her to bring it out like this? If she really dared to ask for a truckload of supplies, those soldiers would definitely turn against her.
