Chapter 202 Trouble
"Even if there's no guilt, there shouldn't be any disgust!" Gao Yingwei finished his porridge, his brows furrowed deeply.
"You probably look down on me because I came from an orphanage and am unsophisticated, not good enough for a refined occasion." Mu Qingyu was also slurping her noodles. To be honest, the food from the communal pot was actually quite delicious. On the contrary, she didn't touch the two pieces of bread.
"That's because they lost their own child..." Gao Yingwei complained.
"It doesn't matter anymore, it's fine. Look, now I can justifiably ignore whether they live or die." Mu Qingyu patted her stomach, she was full.
She picked up a piece of bread and casually handed it to a passing soldier who was adding soup.
The young soldier hesitated for a long time, unsure whether he should take it or not.
Gao Yingwei knew that Mu Qingyu wasn't short of such things, so he waved to the bewildered soldier: "Go on, go on, take it if you can."
The young soldier then happily took the two loaves of bread and shared them with his comrades.
"Are you leaving after you've eaten, or tomorrow?" Gao Yingwei asked Mu Qingyu with a hint of reluctance.
"Let's eat and then leave." She wouldn't have minded staying another night anyway, and she wasn't in a rush. But having encountered some unpleasant people here, she didn't want to linger any longer.
"Alright then." Gao Yingwei knew what bothered her. "It's just that after this parting, I don't know if we'll ever have the chance to meet again." He sighed.
In the end times, a farewell is often forever.
After giving Gao Yingwei the address of her village, Mu Qingyu said, "My village is right there. It's under construction right now, and I won't be moving unless there's a major emergency."
"Major events" refers to things like earthquakes, tsunamis, and landslides. But Mu Qingyu knew that, at least in the five years she was alive in her previous life, City A had never experienced anything like this.
Earthquakes did occur, but they were quite minor. If handled well, no one in the village will die. However, there have been instances of zombie hordes.
But at that time, the zombies were all heading towards the city where there were more living people and a higher concentration. Their village's location wasn't very attractive to zombies, unless there was a large-scale zombie horde.
Once the village is completed, it should be able to cope with everything.
“If you encounter any situation on the road and can’t go any further, and you have nowhere to go, you can come here to find me. Or if you encounter something and can’t stay in the capital anymore, you can come here too… Anyway, the place is right there, you can come anytime.”
Mu Qingyu thought to herself, "It would be even better if I could go back with her now, but that's obviously impossible."
"Pshaw, we finally managed to get the address of your village. It wasn't easy." Gao Yingwei joked, remembering how Mu Qingyu had gotten angry just a few days ago when his village was mentioned.
The two chatted and laughed for a while before slowly walking out of the camp, saying goodbye with smiles.
But as soon as they reached the exit of the military camp, Gao Yingwei's expression changed: "It seems someone is here to cause you trouble."
If Mu Xiangnan were the only one guarding outside the camp, Gao Yingwei would definitely not have said that.
Standing not far from the camp is a group of people, including Huo Siyu, Mu Xiangnan, and Ou Mingxin, who is being supported by Mu Xiangnan. Ou Mingxin has messy hair, is covered in dirt, and looks so old that her original appearance is unrecognizable.
Further away, many people were also peeking around, probably all looking for a spectacle, or perhaps even hoping to snag a bargain.
However, sitting at the very front was a man in his early thirties who stood out among the group.
He had neatly combed short hair and a clean-cut, handsome face, though his eyes held a somewhat sinister yet extremely intimidating gaze. He wore a black shirt, suit trousers, and a large woolen overcoat.
Yes, he was sitting there; someone brought him a chair, and he sat in the middle of the group.
The rain lessened in the evening, occasionally stopping briefly. It was now just a light drizzle, but a man and a woman stood on either side of the man, carefully holding umbrellas for him, as if afraid that not a single raindrop would fall on him.
"This guy, is he really that pretentious?!" Gao Yingwei's teeth ached from the spitting fire! If it were just a matter of numbers and fighting prowess, could Gao Yingwei also put on such a show? No way, my teeth hurt!
Mu Qingyu noticed the two people with the umbrella. The girl looked to be in her early twenties, with delicate and lovely features. Her pretty face was clean and she wore a pink dress, which, although a bit old, looked quite clean. Her long, black hair fell down, covering her shoulders, and looked rather smooth.
The other boy, Mu Qingyu, was very familiar with—Mu Yan!
He looked better than when Mu Qingyu last saw him. He was wearing a clean gray hoodie, his short hair was neatly cut, and his face was clean. He was just thinner than the last time Mu Qingyu saw him.
After getting all that done, he actually looked about 60% like Mu Qingrong. Mu Qingyu couldn't help but marvel at the power of Mu Xiangbei's genes.
Mu Yan and the girl next to him were both very thin, which made it look like they were struggling to hold up two large umbrellas.
Behind Mu Yan were several faces that Mu Qingyu recognized.
One of them is Jin Qinjiu, needless to say, an old acquaintance. Back in Qingshan Hospital, he was a leader, but now, he can only stand obediently and respectfully behind that man.
He looked much better than Huo Siyu, which meant he was clearly treated better in the group.
