Chapter 59 Arson

Chapter Fifty-Nine: Arson

Mu Qingyu dealt with the sentry post quietly and efficiently!

Those people were all dozing off, probably because they thought it was safe to stay in the houses in the village, since the zombies around them had been cleared away.

But they never expected that a human would sneak in and easily take their lives with a simple twist of the neck.

Mu Qingyu knew the location of the sentry posts when they captured her during the day. Back then, the man with the hunting rifle would nod slightly to greet each sentry post as he passed by.

Mu Qingyu noticed this and memorized their respective locations. She crept over that night to check, and the location was accurate.

After dealing with the sentry post, Mu Qingyu and her brother returned to the courtyard where they had been arrested. Just like that morning, the courtyard was unguarded.

This time, Mu Qingyu didn't hold back. First, she collected all the finished products piled up in the yard, and then she went into the factory and emptied everything inside as well.

Watching his sister's efficient shopping spree, Mu Qingrong knew—his sister was lying! Her storage space was definitely more than five cubic meters! But he would never tell her; this was probably his sister's biggest secret!

"Sister, didn't you say they also wanted to make guns? Why is no one guarding these things?" Mu Qingrong was very puzzled.

“Because nobody wants them!” Mu Qingrong explained in a low voice, “Who in their right mind would want to make guns? Most of the people who have come to the village are people who have fled from the city. What they need is food, water, and safe shelter. Who wants steel balls?”

"These things are bulky and heavy. How many can one person carry? How much noise would a large-scale transport cause? There aren't that many space-type ability users in this world." Isn't the preciousness of space-type ability users precisely because they are "few"?

"Among their group, including the guy surnamed Gu, there are only about twenty capable fighters. Why waste manpower guarding something so worthless? Besides, it seems they haven't found anyone who can make guns."

“Even if they find it, there are still many problems to solve. For example, the machines can't operate without electricity, and they don't have gunpowder. They also don't have metal-type ability users like you. So why are they in such a hurry to guard these things?” If the problems aren't solved, these things will be worthless to the Gu family.

"Sister, where are we going to find gunpowder?" Mu Qingrong also realized this problem. He could make mechanical things, but firing a gun still required gunpowder.

"We'll talk about it later," Mu Qingyu said. "What else?"

Since they were already in the business, they might as well go big! Regardless of whether it would be useful or not, the siblings simply ransacked every factory they could find in the vicinity.

Because of the existence of the spatial artifact, their movements were not significant and did not attract anyone's attention.

When she felt it was about time, Mu Qingyu stopped. It's likely that the secret of the space is no longer a secret to Mu Qingrong.

Who has five cubic meters of space that can hold so much stuff? But since Mu Qingrong didn't ask and pretended not to know, Mu Qingyu wouldn't bring it up herself. Some things are better left unsaid.

"Sis, should we run away now?"

"No." Mu Qingyu said, taking out two cans of gasoline from her spatial storage.

She gazed in the direction of the ancestral hall. "Father," she thought, "the entertainment center, right? Well then, let you have your fun!"

"Let's set it on fire!" Mu Qingyu said.

"Okay!" Mu Qingrong replied happily. In the past few days, he had become very comfortable and adept at doing "bad things".

So the two of them took advantage of the darkness and crept towards the ancestral hall again.

Along the way, Mu Qingyu poured oil at certain key locations on the route she had to take—if she encountered pursuit on the return journey, she could light the fire to block those people and buy time to escape.

What Mu Qingyu didn't know was that while she and Mu Qingrong had just sneaked into the village and were ransacking the first factory, an extremely unpleasant scene was unfolding in the ancestral hall.

Originally, Gu Jianye patiently talked to Lao Liu, intending to tell him that without rules there can be no order. If they wanted to establish their own territory here, they had to abide by the rules themselves before they could guide the behavior of others.

The sixth brother was having a great time at the entertainment center and was quite drunk when he was dragged to the cold and impersonal ancestral hall to listen to Gu Jianye's useless long-winded sermon.

Others might be afraid of Gu Jianye, but Lao Liu wasn't. Lao Liu knew Gu Jianye's background; he used to be Gu Jianye's boss, and it was one thing for him to take Gu Jianye's money, but now, why should Gu Jianye boss him around?

Is it because Gu Jianye is a lightning-type ability user? Then what about Lao Liu, who is a fire-type ability user?

The brothers who came with him now, apart from Han Yu, that brainless violent madman, most of the rest used to be his sixth brother's men! What is Gu Jianye? He's just a charlatan!

The two of them started arguing about this right there in the ancestral hall, and ended up parting on bad terms.

After Lao Liu left, he went back to the entertainment center. Gu Jianye was left alone in the ancestral hall, sulking.

Soon after, the siblings found their way there and began pouring gasoline around the corners of the ancestral hall and the entertainment center.

The patrol team members were either in the entertainment center or near the wall repair site. The two of them had been searching for a long time, but no one noticed.

The siblings agreed that after lighting the fire, they would run back the way they came.

The reason we didn't choose a motorcycle was because it would be too noisy.

The first thing a normal person does when they discover a fire is to try to put it out. But if they try to escape on a bicycle, the authorities will realize what's happening and send people to chase them.

The two ran all the way to the village entrance, the same path they had taken to get there, a path that Gu Jianye had deliberately left to lure others in.

Flames could be faintly seen on the distant horizon, clearly indicating that the fire started by the siblings had, as expected, grown quite large.

The siblings gave each other a high five to celebrate their success. Just as Mu Qingyu was about to take out the motorcycle, she noticed a figure standing at the entrance of the village!

She initially thought it was a zombie that had wandered in, but as the person approached—it turned out to be Han Yu, a man carrying a hunting rifle!

The siblings had used up all their hidden arrows during their first escape attempt. By the time Mu Qingyu pulled out her crossbow from her spatial storage, Han Yu had already raised his spear.

Mu Qingyu immediately dared not make any rash moves, but simply turned to protect Mu Qingrong behind her.

"Hey, you two are really something. I guessed you'd come back, and you actually did," Han Yu said, taking a few steps forward.

Seeing Mu Qingyu carefully protecting her younger brother, he laughed again: "Hey, that formidable little girl, I can't refuse to fight you, and you shouldn't shoot me with arrows either."

"I'm just here to witness this, so don't be nervous. And remember, no shooting arrows, okay?" Han Yu said, slowly lowering his hunting rifle.

He even made a gentlemanly "please" gesture, meaning that he wanted Mu Qingyu and her brother to leave.
