Chapter 49 Starting Again

Chapter Forty-Nine: Starting Again

Upon hearing this, Mu Qingyu chuckled and said, "I have no objection to that." In fact, she never intended to take back what she had given away.

She's happy when those she helps are willing to reciprocate—at least it proves they're not ungrateful. She'll feel more at ease and comfortable working with them again in the future.

She didn't care at all that Xiao Mo and she had calculated everything so clearly. It was good that they had calculated everything clearly, so as to avoid many things getting tangled up.

The spoils were divided up, but the specifics needed to be decided first, so Mu Qingyu took Xiao Mo and Mu Qingrong back in the remaining car.

The truck made quite a racket as it drove by. Aunt Mei was alerted when Mu Qingyu first returned, and at the same time, she discovered that Xiao Mo was missing.

So when Mu Qingyu returned for the second time, Aunt Mei was anxiously pacing around the courtyard with Xiao Ai.

So the responsibility of explaining to Aunt Mei and the others fell to Xiao Mo. Mu Qingyu didn't care how he explained it. She simply worked with Mu Qingrong to sort and distribute the supplies from the two trucks to make it easier to divide them up later.

Such a commotion naturally did not escape the notice of the two sisters in Building 2.

The short-haired girl is now filled with remorse: "I should have agreed to go with her to kill someone when she asked me this morning!"

The older sister held her younger sister's hand and comforted her, "There are only two of us, so we don't really need that many supplies."

The younger sister smiled wryly upon hearing this; her older sister was always like this, so simple-minded. She could only explain, "Sister, it's not that I'm envious of the supplies they got." She reached out and gently stroked her sister's face, "It's that we lost the opportunity to gain their trust."

A blank look appeared on her excessively beautiful face.

Seeing her older sister like this, the younger sister's anxiety intensified. If her innocent and naive sister were just ordinary, it wouldn't be so bad, but she possessed a stunningly beautiful face, making her a target of unwanted attention even before the harsh winter began. Now that the world is in chaos, how can she protect her?

So she felt remorse; it wasn't like she hadn't killed people before! Why hadn't she dared to answer bravely this morning? If she went to help tonight, obtaining supplies would be secondary; the important thing was that she would at least have a partner in this place! At least when she couldn't take care of everything, someone could help look after her sister.

Besides, the girl next door looks very capable, and since she's also a girl, she wouldn't be after her sister's beauty.

She was frustrated and anxious about this, but her sister knew nothing about it...

"Forget it, let's look for other opportunities. At least those bad guys are gone, so we don't have to worry about our safety for now." That was the only way the younger sister could comfort her older sister.

Their request to reinforce the house today was rejected, so the two of them could only find all the heavy objects they could find in the house to block the doors and windows to prevent anyone from breaking in.

Mu Qingyu spent the entire night moving her supplies. By the time she had moved all her belongings into the house, it was already dawn. She also had to help Mo Huaiyu move their things into Building 4.

Mo Huaiyu is Xiao Mo's full name; I learned this last night when we were riding back together. Xiao Ai also has a full name, but it doesn't really matter, because her full name is Ai Xiao Ai...

Mo Huaiyu's physical condition made it impossible for him to do this kind of physical work. Although Aunt Mei and Xiao Ai also joined the moving team, their speed was far slower than that of the Mu siblings.

In the end, it was only with the help of Mu Qingyu and her brother that the move was completed.

During this time, the three children also came over, but they didn't stick to Mu Qingyu and the others. Instead, they pried open the door of Building No. 5, and it seemed that they planned to move into Building No. 5.

The little boy was quite skilled at unlocking doors, much better than the two sisters in Building 2 who had to force their way in.

They found a three-wheeled automatic vehicle, a common sight in rural areas, from somewhere. The two older children, one holding the front and the other pushing from behind, loaded the youngest child and the supplies onto the vehicle. Little by little, they transported the items to Building No. 5.

Back home, he closed the door. Mu Qingrong collapsed onto the sofa, barely moving. The entire night had taken a toll on his energy. He had never experienced anything so strenuous in the first half of his life.

"Sis, didn't you say you weren't afraid of your spatial abilities being exposed? Why don't you just quickly bring everything in? Moving supplies is really tiring." Mu Qingrong sighed as he lay there, not wanting to move a single finger anymore.

The various events that occurred overnight, including her brush with death and the subsequent exhaustion, had long since overshadowed any of the emotions Mu Qingrong felt from her first murder.

Mu Qingyu found his lifeless appearance amusing: "Your stamina is lacking; you'll need to train more in the future. We're not afraid of others knowing about our spatial abilities, but the fewer people who know, the more trump cards we have."

Moreover, spatial ability users haven't been discovered on a large scale yet. What if someone tries to kill them to loot their equipment? People don't know yet that killing a spatial ability user won't yield any equipment; the resources will simply disappear along with the user and their owner upon death.

This was something that people figured out about a year after the apocalypse, as more and more people started trying to kill others to loot equipment.

“That’s true, so many eyes are watching us.” Mu Qingrong muttered in agreement, then turned to look cautiously at Mu Qingyu: “I saw those three kids move to Building 5.”

Mu Qingyu nodded: "Yes, I saw it too. What's wrong?"

Mu Qingrong quickly shook her head: "No, I was just wondering if they could survive, they're so young."

"Xiao Rong, that's not our business," Mu Qingyu warned.

"I know, I know." Mu Qingrong nodded quickly. "I was just curious. Sister, is there anything to eat now? I'm starving." He quickly changed the subject.

Mu Qingyu knew that Mu Qingrong was not just curious; he had always been a kind-hearted child. In the sudden apocalypse, he had not yet experienced the coldness of human relationships, so it was easy for him to sympathize with others.

So Mu Qingyu made a decision in her heart: next time she goes to the city, she should take Mu Qingrong with her; children have to learn to grow up eventually.

Five days later.

Since the gang of thugs was wiped out, the village has been peaceful for five days. Apart from the occasional zombie sneaking into the village and howling, but being quickly eliminated by Mu Qingyu and her brother, the village is as peaceful as it was before the apocalypse.

Mu Qingyu threw all the supplies she collected that day into the Blood Jade Space, and casually told Mu Qingrong that her spatial ability had been upgraded and that her space had expanded to hold a lot more things.

Aside from being happy, Mu Qingrong never questioned whether Mu Qingyu was lying.
