Chapter 74 Boyfriend
When Bai Chenzhu woke up, he felt uncomfortable all over.
When he opened his eyes, he was lying face down, on clean bedding. Outside, there were clear birdsong, blue sky and white clouds, and flowerpots on the windowsill, with small flowers swaying in the wind.
It was so wonderful that it felt like everything before had been a nightmare.
But as soon as he moved, he knew it wasn't a dream.
My back felt a mixture of cool, spicy, and itchy sensations, and the blanket barely reached my waist.
Bai Chenzhu gasped, and tried to get up in defiance, but a hand pressed down on his shoulder.
"What's the rush?" a slightly cold female voice asked.
The familiar scene seemed to be repeating itself once again. Bai Chenzhu turned his head and, sure enough, saw the woman by the bed. She was wearing long clothes and trousers, and her exposed skin was covered with medicated wine, but it was still bluish-purple.
"Sister Zhuohua," Bai Chenzhu called out in a hoarse voice.
Zhou Zhuohua picked up the water glass and carefully fed him a few sips of water. "You have a long injury on your back, so you'll have to sleep on your stomach for a while. Besides that, you have quite a few other injuries, and we don't have enough bandages right now. I finally finished applying the medicine for you, so don't rub it off."
"Don't worry, I'm a very obedient patient," Bai Chenzhu assured him.
“You are, but the other person isn’t.” Zhou Zhuohua was annoyed when she talked about this. She crossed her arms and said, “Someone has been staying here for two days and refuses to rest. I just coaxed him to sleep in another room. Go over later, so he won’t get too excited to see you and get up again.”
Bai Chenzhu smiled slightly. "I see."
He soon realized something else: "I slept for two days?"
Zhou Zhuohua nodded.
Bai Chenzhu raised his finger and rubbed his still slightly sore forehead. "So how is the situation now?"
“Both monsters died downstream. Many houses downstream were flooded and became uninhabitable. After that night, everyone settled down temporarily in the guesthouse area upstream,” Zhou Zhuohua said slowly.
“We are currently staying at a guesthouse near ‘Wind Bridge’. These past few days they have been discussing what to do next, and Jiang Ye has been urging them to seek refuge at various bases.”
Bai Chenzhu's eyelids twitched. "Jiang Ye?"
“Yes, after he brought you back, he didn’t rest. He pulled Liang Zhi aside to discuss settling the population, and temporarily chose this area to live in. Later, he suggested that everyone go to various bases to seek refuge.” Zhou Zhuohua said this with a somewhat surprised tone, “He even drew a map and marked all the nearby bases. When did this guy know so much?”
Bai Chenzhu: ...
They really know how to make a fuss.
But Bai Chenzhu could vaguely guess Jiang Ye's intentions. Jiang Ye must have specially created the map based on the base distribution from his previous life, and his persuasion of these hundred or so people to join the base was simply to get them to spread the news about the alien race.
The five of them alone, along with Luo Zhou, don't have enough influence.
The two exchanged a few more words before Zhou Zhuohua left the room. After all, she was a doctor, and at this crucial moment, she needed to look after others.
Bai Chenzhu lay on the pillow, and as soon as the person left, the patient who had been saying nice things secretly got up.
"Hiss." He hunched over and gasped.
Even if you can't see the wounds on the back, you can tell from the pain that it's not good.
Although Sister Zhuohua said it was best not to disturb Jiang Ye, Bai Chenzhu thought, "But I'm just going over to take a sneak peek, that doesn't count as disturbing him, does it?"
He got up and saw that he was only wearing trousers, so he grabbed a shirt and put it on, then groped his way to push open the door to the single room.
He could easily sense Jiang Ye's location. But the moment he used his ability, a needle-like pain struck his mind, and weakness and dizziness overwhelmed him. Bai Chenzhu leaned against the door frame, closed his eyes, and tried to recover.
The corridor was quiet, with faint voices coming from outside.
Bai Chenzhu walked to Jiang Ye's room, hesitated for a moment, and slowly pushed the door open a crack, intending to just take a peek and then go back.
The difference between this room and his room is that it has no windows; curtains hang on the walls as a self-deceptive decoration. Therefore, it appears slightly dark, like a narrow, dark room.
As soon as he opened the door, the sunlight streamed into the room through the crack.
Bai Chenzhu knew he was in trouble. This would obviously wake up Jiang Ye, who had keen senses, and he immediately tried to close the door.
"You're awake? Why are you in such a hurry to run?"
A lazy tune rose in the darkness.
Bai Chenzhu felt like he'd been caught doing something wrong. He stood there for a moment, then said, "I came to see you. Are you alright?"
"not good."
Bai Chenzhu paused, unsure whether to go forward or back. "Then...should I get some rest, or should I call Sister Zhuohua over for you?"
"Come in."
Bai Chenzhu's rationality wavered between "Sister Zhuohua's words" and "Jiang Ye's words" for two seconds before he stepped into the room and closed the door behind him.
"May I turn on the light?" Bai Chenzhu asked politely.
"open."
When the lights were turned on, both of them were slightly blinded by the light.
Bai Chenzhu lowered his hand from his shield and saw the layout of the room. Jiang Ye was lying on the bed looking at him, also raising one hand to block out the light.
She didn't say anything, just focused and quietly looked at him.
Bai Chenzhu walked over, slowly, and when he got there, he found there were no stools to sit on.
Jiang Ye patted the bedside, and he sat down sideways, naturally reaching out to touch Jiang Ye's forehead, his voice low and gentle, "You don't have a fever anymore."
Jiang Ye, like a big cat, closed his eyes and rubbed against his palm. Bai Chenzhu initially pulled his hand away a little uncomfortably, but after realizing what was happening, he naturally accepted Jiang Ye's affection.
"What's wrong? Are you unhappy?" Bai Chenzhu casually touched his hair. His hair was very short, only a little longer than a buzz cut, and it felt okay to touch.
"Hmm," Jiang Ye groaned through his nose.
"Tell me about it?" Bai Chenzhu asked tentatively.
He felt that Jiang Ye might not be willing to open up to him. After all, this guy seemed carefree and unserious, but he was actually very thoughtful. Sometimes, just when Bai Chenzhu thought he understood him, this guy would do something.
He asked that question simply as a convenient remark.
Jiang Ye got up, propped himself up on his left leg, and looked at him again and again.
Bai Chenzhu suddenly had a premonition that Jiang Ye's worries might be related to him.
Sure enough, the next second he was grabbed by the collar and pulled over, and in an instant their faces were extremely close, so close that they could hear each other's breath.
Jiang Ye stared at his face for a long time, then awkwardly, imitating Bai Chenzhu's previous gesture, kissed his lips.
It only lasted a few seconds, but it was enough to cause a huge upheaval in Bai Chenzhu's heart.
Bai Chenzhu's Adam's apple bobbed, and just as he was about to say something, Jiang Ye hugged him.
Considerate of the injury on his back, Jiang Ye simply put his arm around his shoulder and nuzzled his cheek, saying, "A-Zhu."
"I am here."
"..."
Bai Chenzhu sensed something amiss, tilted his head, and found it somewhat amusing, "You dare to kiss someone, but not to speak?"
He wanted to look at Jiang Ye's face, but Jiang Ye refused to look up, burying his head in his shoulder and neck, and took a deep breath.
Jiang Ye said sullenly, "A-Zhu, don't take such risks next time. Do you know you almost scared me to death?"
Bai Chenzhu made an inappropriate joke, "Aren't they all still alive?"
This angered Jiang Ye, who then grabbed his shoulder.
After making a promise to Sister Zhuohua, Bai Chenzhu made a second promise to someone today: "Trust me, I value my life, there won't be a next time."
Jiang Ye paused for a moment, then said earnestly, "I care about you a lot."
"I know, I've always known." Bai Chenzhu didn't think he was so blind as to not see it.
"I care so much, so much, so much." Jiang Ye repeated, his grip on him tightening, as if he wanted to meld him into his body. "But I don't understand what love is, A-Zhu. You're so smart, teach me, okay?"
Bai Chenzhu's heart skipped a beat, and he lost his rhythm.
Is this... a confession?
Even though it was something he already knew all along, Bai Chenzhu only realized how joyful and exciting true mutual affection was when Jiang Ye actually said it.
Bai Chenzhu tentatively raised her hand to wrap around his waist, unable to resist asking, "Don't you dislike men?"
Jiang Ye said, "You don't count."
Bai Chenzhu's expression changed slightly. "Am I not a man?"
Jiang Ye quickly said, "No, no, no, what I mean is, I just, uh!"
He shook his head in annoyance, his face showing a bitter expression, much more bitter than bitter melon.
It wasn't the first time Bai Chenzhu had met Jiang Ye. Just as Bai Chenzhu was chuckling and about to let him go...
Jiang Ye gritted his teeth and went all out, "I like you whether you're a woman or a man!"
"Anyway, it's you, I like you!"
"Cough!" Bai Chenzhu was stunned by his fearless appearance. He wanted to laugh but felt that the occasion was inappropriate. He tried to suppress his smile, as if he could hear his own heartbeat.
He swallowed hard, patted Jiang Ye on the shoulder, and whispered, "Loosen your grip, I won't run."
"Oh? Oh!" Jiang Ye was stunned, carefully loosening her grip and patting his back. "Are you alright?"
"Hmm, very good." Bai Chenzhu's phoenix eyes shone brightly. He pressed on the back of Jiang Ye's neck and pushed him forward, so that their foreheads touched.
Bai Chenzhu looked intently into Jiang Ye's eyes, trying to see straight into the depths of his soul. "Let's make this clear first, from now on, no matter how beautiful a woman is, she'll be completely out of your reach."
"Of course, I'm definitely not a fickle person." Jiang Ye practically swore on the spot, "I'll be good to you!"
Bai Chenzhu thought of his harem in the original novel, and then of everything that was in chaos now. Even though he knew it was all a misunderstanding, he still felt uneasy.
He raised his hand and placed it on Jiang Ye's forehead, tracing the strong contours of his profile with his fingertips, confirming again and again, "Are you really sure? If you're with a 'hard' man like me, there's no turning back."
Jiang Ye had never intended to toy with Bai Chenzhu's feelings; otherwise, he would have readily agreed long ago. But now, a sudden curiosity arose within him, and he cautiously inquired, "What if I 'turn back'?"
Bai Chenzhu pinched his cheek and pulled it outwards hard, her eyes crinkling, "I will only be widowed, not break up."
He would never allow anyone to betray him.
Jiang Yele said, "That's brutal, but it suits my taste perfectly."
He thought for a moment, "A-Zhu, will you sleep with me for a while?"
It's a single room, and the bed isn't very big. There's barely enough room for two people to lie down, and if you move even slightly, your shoulders and arms will rub against each other.
Bai Chenzhu had just woken up, but in Jiang Ye's room, he felt drowsy again.
He had an injury on his back, so he slept face down.
Jiang Ye turned to face him, pinching his earlobe and touching his arm, as curious as a child who had received a new toy, yet hesitant to move.
"Never seen a human before?" Bai Chenzhu rested his head on his arm, tilting his head to tease him deliberately.
Jiang Ye glanced at him, said nothing, and then patted his shoulder again.
"Never seen a man before?" Bai Chenzhu teased.
"Hmph." Jiang Ye said something surprising, "Want to compare who's bigger?"
Bai Chenzhu's mind didn't quite catch on.
After turning around, Bai Chenzhu was stunned by his wildness and asked sincerely, "Are you really straight? Don't you need any time to process this? Won't looking at that make you lose your erection?"
He was genuinely worried that Jiang Ye might show signs of resistance or disgust, so he didn't plan to discuss that aspect with anyone so soon.
Jiang Ye scratched his head, looking confused. "Really? You're so good-looking, you should be able to..."
"What a load of nonsense!" Bai Chenzhu pressed the other person's head into the pillow with one hand. "Shut up, don't think nonsense."
"Show me my muscles?" Jiang Ye struggled to lift her head, eagerly displaying her physique and stretching her arm out in front of him, "Pinch me."
Bai Chenzhu pinched it twice.
"How is it?" Jiang Ye asked.
Bai Chenzhu knew what he wanted and readily complimented him, "Very good, very sturdy, very powerful, I like it."
"I used to exercise all the time, and I never stopped even when I was traveling everywhere," Jiang Ye rambled on. "Shall I show you my eight-pack abs?"
Bai Chenzhu nodded reservedly, clearly tempted. "It is quite beautiful."
Don't you want to touch it?
Bai Chenzhu gently touched it, both amused and exasperated, "Don't be so serious, it's not like I don't have any."
Normal muscles are soft, but Jiang Ye's muscles are rock hard, so they must be incredibly taut.
My newly minted boyfriend is really trying his best to win her over.
"Not satisfied?" Jiang Ye propped his chin up, thinking about what other strengths he had. He'd looked at his face, his muscles, his abs... well, he simply threw back the covers and sat up. He was wearing trousers, and his hand was on his belt. "Or would you like to see that?"
When Bai Chenzhu saw that he was covered in wounds, some of which had not even scabbed over, it was clear how serious the injuries had been. She felt a mix of emotions that she couldn't quite put into words, and the initial excitement subsided.
Even after all this, this guy was still causing trouble. He sighed, his refined and handsome face full of helplessness, and he stopped indulging Jiang Ye. "Put the blanket back on for me."
Jiang Ye, puzzled, leaned closer and asked sincerely, "Are you impotent? Don't you feel anything? Are you really gay?"
How could Bai Chenzhu not be tempted? Otherwise, why would he be so bored as to randomly date someone? He just felt that now was not the right time.
"Look at the wounds on my back, look at the wounds on your own body, can't you act like a human being?" Bai Chenzhu pressed his forehead down, rationally rejecting his invitation to become an adult.
Jiang Ye took his hand away and said sincerely, "Why should I act like a normal person in front of you? I've been single for so long, can't I even be excited in front of my boyfriend?"
“You’re getting excited at the wrong time and in the wrong place. I have an obligation to care about your health. If you can’t control yourself, I can extinguish it for you.” Bai Chenzhu said coldly and ruthlessly.
Jiang Ye lay down, with his back to him.
It's only the first day, why are they already arguing? Bai Chenzhu's eyelids twitched. Thinking about Jiang Ye's energy and stamina, she had a feeling that Jiang Ye would be very 'wild' in the future.
Bai Chenzhu nudged his shoulder. "Hmm? Are you unhappy?"
“No,” Jiang Ye said, his back to him.
Bai Chenzhu was silent for a moment, then got up, lay on top of him, and said gently, "Jiang Ye? Don't be angry. We both need to recover. There's plenty of time ahead."
Jiang Ye remained silent.
"Jiang Ye? Boyfriend?" Bai Chenzhu peeked at his expression.
Jiang Ye suppressed the smile on his lips, putting on a cold face, but inside he was overjoyed.
Bai Chenzhu leaned down and gently kissed Jiang Ye's cheek, "I'm holding you..."
He belatedly realized that he could only lie face down and couldn't hug anyone, so he could only compromise and say, "Can you hold me while I sleep?"
Jiang Ye cleared his throat, trying to save face for himself, "Since you brought it up, then fine."
Bai Chenzhu's dark eyes were full of smiles as he lay back down in his original spot. Jiang Ye turned off the light, lay down, and hugged him like a life-sized doll.
Bai Chenzhu quietly moved two steps towards Jiang Ye, and could clearly feel the warmth of another body nestled in the darkness.
Familiar and safe.
Jiang Ye… His eyelids grew heavier and heavier. He patted Jiang Ye’s shoulder as a way of comforting him, and soon fell asleep in this warm atmosphere.
Jiang Ye had excellent eyesight; he could clearly see Bai Chenzhu's face in the dark. He stared at the sleeping person in his arms for a while, and suddenly felt a strong urge to hold Bai Chenzhu and roll around on the bed a few times.
What should I do? Jiang Ye thought, how could I possibly sleep?
He couldn't wait to take Bai Chenzhu out right now and announce to the world that she was his girlfriend!
