Chapter 108 Little Butterfly

Chapter 108 Little Butterfly

The guests arrived late, stopping the artillery fire that would have devastated Earth.

Bai Chenzhu stood side by side with Jiang Ye, his expression stiff as he watched the gangway descend. Countless guests disembarked from the ship, their mental energy clearly targeting Bai Chenzhu.

Or rather, it was aimed at the communicator on his body.

Bai Chenzhu silently took out the fragments from his pocket, put them together, and the familiar communication ball floated up, radiating the light they were chasing.

Jiang Ye stepped forward and shielded him behind him.

The guests made way, creating a gap, and a figure appeared at the end.

Compared to the aggressive Anaret aliens, it has a gentle and handsome appearance, perfectly matching human aesthetics. It has long golden hair, baby blue eyes, a uniform, and large, fluffy wings on its back.

Two words inexplicably popped into Bai Chenzhu's mind: birdman.

——

The Belisaman aliens prevented the two sides from fighting, and the leaderless alien race could not say much. As envoys of the Alliance, the Belisaman aliens fairly stated that they would escort them back to the Alliance planet for punishment, and their numerous atrocities would be made public.

Bai Chenzhu wanted to yawn, but he forced himself to. In the serious and solemn meeting room, he should have been more attentive.

But the relaxation that followed the tension left him feeling exhausted. Not only exhausted, he was also covered in dust, and the rough treatment on his shoulder wound was still a bit painful.

Bai Chenzhu was momentarily stunned. After regaining her senses, she shook her head, trying to stay awake, and secretly asked Jiang Ye, "Is it the person from your memories?"

Jiang Ye whispered to Bai Chenzhu, "It's them. That makes things easier; they have a grudge against the insects."

Meanwhile, Xie Quan, always respectful and meticulous, politely asked, "Then, I would like to ask, according to the regulations of the Interstellar Alliance, who should compensate us for our losses?"

"According to the Alliance's regulations, the compensation should naturally be provided by the Anaret aliens," the visitor said slowly. It patiently opened the terminal in its hand and read the relevant treaty aloud in front of everyone.

The mechanical sound of the translator made Bai Chenzhu's eyelids droop, and the days dragged on endlessly.

"Don't force yourself," Jiang Ye whispered, "Why don't you sit on my lap?"

Bai Chenzhu woke up, glanced at him, and felt a little itchy, but she didn't ruffle Jiang Ye's hair in front of everyone.

Are all the aliens from Belisaman this long-winded?

After reading the treaty aloud, it explained it in detail, stating that the interstellar court could send people from Blue Star to testify, and Blue Star would be given sufficient compensation, whether for rebuilding civilization or for eradicating the mutated monsters outside.

After reaching a preliminary agreement, Xie Quan sent people to call them over. He thought these aliens would return to the ship to rest, but to his surprise, they readily agreed to stay and did not mind at all.

Jiang Ye pulled Bai Chenzhu back, but he couldn't hold on any longer as soon as they stepped outside. He leaned on Bai Chenzhu's shoulder, panting, clutching his chest and whining that it hurt here and there. He refused to see a doctor, saying that he had great recovery ability and wouldn't waste medical resources.

Bai Chenzhu could only take the person home and get a first-aid kit to bandage them up.

Putting aside the wounds on his body, the bloody hole in the middle of his palm was truly frightening. Bai Chenzhu's heart, which had been at ease, tightened again after seeing Jiang Ye's injuries. With a cold face, she gave him a quick disinfection and bandage, and turned to go find Sister Zhuohua, but Jiang Ye hugged her from behind.

"What's wrong? Hmm?" Jiang Ye secretly glanced at him.

Bai Chenzhu looked up at him, her eyes red-rimmed, but her clear black and white eyes shone brightly.

"What's wrong?" Jiang Ye cupped his face in his hands.

"I should have been faster," Bai Chenzhu said to herself, thinking that Jiang Ye might not have suffered another injury.

Jiang Ye gave him a quick kiss on the cheek, but Bai Chenzhu pushed him away, saying, "Dirty."

"It's not dirty." Jiang Ye looked down at himself. "You're disgusted by me?"

"I said I'm dirty." Bai Chenzhu sighed. How could he dislike Jiang Ye? It's just that he was covered in dust, and he himself felt uncomfortable.

"Hmm, shall we take a bath together?" Jiang Ye joked. Normally, Bai Chenzhu would definitely say he was being indecent, but Jiang Ye always loved to take the initiative with his words.

Bai Chenzhu helped him up and said earnestly, "Okay, you can't get the wounds wet. I'll clean them for you."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Ye stared at him in shock, as if Bai Chenzhu had been possessed.

That look made Bai Chenzhu chuckle. "Let's go."

"Let's go, let's go!" Jiang Ye said cheerfully, his energy restored.

——

Jiang Ye was sleeping soundly.

When the knocking started, Bai Chenzhu woke up first. He put Jiang Ye's arm aside and tiptoed out the door.

The door opened, and Zhou Zhuohua stood anxiously at the door with a first-aid kit. "Where have you been? I've been looking everywhere for you!"

Bai Chenzhu glanced at the time; it had only been three hours since they returned.

Zhou Zhuohua entered the room, quickly checked Bai Chenzhu's body, and breathed a sigh of relief after confirming that the injuries were under control. She opened the bag she was carrying and said, "You must not have eaten. I brought a few steamed buns, that will have to do for now. Where is Jiang Yeren? Call him out, I want to see his injuries."

"He's sleeping."

"Sleeping?" Zhou Zhuohua was stunned, her face turning pale. She asked repeatedly, "Is he really sleeping and not unconscious?"

Unconscious? Bai Chenzhu had never considered this possibility. He was stunned for a moment, then immediately grabbed Zhou Zhuohua's wrist and pulled him into the room. "Take a look at him!"

The high fever persists.

Bai Chenzhu stood by and assisted Zhou Zhuohua as he bandaged Jiang Ye.

How could this be? Bai Chenzhu thought, she was perfectly fine before she went to sleep.

Besides the penetrating wound in his palm, Jiang Ye had multiple other wounds on his body. With new and old wounds piled up together, there wasn't a single patch of unscathed skin on his body.

If he were awake, he'd probably come back with something like, "Are you disgusted with me now that I'm disfigured?"

Bai Chenzhu helped the person up, pinched their chin, and fed them fever-reducing medicine.

After treating the patient's severe gunshot wound, Zhou Zhuohua put away her scalpel, her heart still pounding. "You two scared me to death!"

Turning around, she saw Bai Chenzhu's forehead pressed against Jiang Ye's, like two pitiful little animals huddled together. She suddenly couldn't bring herself to say anything harsh, and just sighed, "He's incredibly resilient. You don't know, when you two caused trouble at the alien base, he was half-dead when he came to Kangcheng. Later, he even dragged his sick body and risked danger to go to the waterfall to find you. After recovering from his injuries, wasn't he still lively and energetic?"

"This time it will definitely be better, it just needs some time."

Bai Chenzhu couldn't help but worry, "Really?"

Zhou Zhuohua affirmed, "Really, you all get some rest. I'll have Mengmeng bring you three meals a day. If anything happens, have Mengmeng come to me immediately."

“Oh, right,” she added, “you learned some simple bandaging techniques from me before, right? If you haven’t, then Jiang Ye’s wound dressing will depend on you.”

Bai Chenzhu regained some of his composure. "I haven't forgotten."

"Take good care of yourselves, and Jiang Ye too." Zhou Zhuohua repeatedly instructed the two on the precautions for wound care before leaving with her medical kit.

After taking the medicine, Bai Chenzhu returned to the bedroom and stared at the unconscious Jiang Ye. His eyes were closed, his lips were pale, and his short, black hair was buried in the pillow. He turned over and put his arm on Bai Chenzhu's side.

Unable to hug the person he wanted, Jiang Ye's eyes darted nervously under his eyelids, as if he might wake up at any moment.

Bai Chenzhu sat down next to him, Jiang Ye put his arm around his waist, and fell into a deep sleep, his breath long and hot, his body wrapped up like a mummy.

It's hilarious.

"You say I'm scary, but you're the scariest one. You just fainted without a sound." Bai Chenzhu tapped the tip of his nose, the sleeping man completely unaware.

"Hurry up and get better, I want to hear more interesting things from you, and I want to go out and play with you." Bai Chenzhu nestled back and pressed her forehead against his.

Perhaps it was because they were too close when he fell asleep, or perhaps Jiang Ye was too alert while he was asleep, but he didn't know how many times he had entered that scorching hot world.

I saw the badly wounded gray wolf.

Unlike its usual clingy self, it lay in its large cat bed, resting with its eyes closed. Even Bai Chenzhu's arrival couldn't make it open its eyes.

Bai Chenzhu squatted down in front of the nest, pinching its soft, cartilaginous ears. The fluffy texture flowed like water through his palm, and it would tremble when he pinched them. He was addicted to the toy, grabbing and rubbing its ears incessantly.

It was hard to tell whether he wanted it to wake up or not. Whenever the gray wolf tried to open its eyes, Bai Chenzhu would quickly withdraw his hand. But once the gray wolf was sound asleep, he couldn't help but play with its ears.

It's terrible.

He stared intently at the twitching wolf ears, unaware that the gray wolf had opened its golden eyes. Bai Chenzhu felt a sudden heat on his hand; he saw the gray wolf open its mouth and bite his hand.

The gray wolf's appearance was too alluring, and it was extremely aggressive when it got fierce. Bai Chenzhu's heart stopped, and he abruptly pulled his hand back. Looking down, he saw that his hand was wet with saliva.

A gray wolf squinted and wagged its tail, its eyes full of the smile of someone who had successfully frightened someone.

Bai Chenzhu pinched its ears and rubbed them hard, "You scared me again!"

The gray wolf made a mock howling sound twice, jumped down from its den, and rubbed against Bai Chenzhu's knee.

Bai Chenzhu understood and sat on the kennel. The gray wolf jumped onto his lap and snuggled into his arms.

It felt like a hot, heavy ball of cotton stuffed inside him. Bai Chenzhu could only awkwardly hold him, "What are you doing? You don't want me to pet you again, do you?"

“Yeah, right.” Gray Wolf said matter-of-factly, “Give me a little grooming, my boyfriend.”

Bai Chenzhu's heart softened, and she chuckled, rubbing its head. Seeing the gray wolf making purring sounds, she couldn't help but ask, "Is it that comfortable?"

The gray wolf said, "You'll know once you try it yourself."

How do I try?

“Try it here. You can think of this place as a dream. Since it’s a dream, anything is possible.” Gray Wolf licked his lips. “Just imagine you are a ball of light here, a shapeless light.”

"You're teachable!" It watched as the figure before it gradually blurred into a ball of white light, and its eyes lit up. "Then imagine that light has a shape, a most comfortable form."

Ideally, they should be wolves, Jiang Ye prayed frantically, so they could pet each other.

It sounds wonderful.

But the ball of light scattered into countless stars, which fell gently upon Jiang Ye.

The gray wolf's joyful expression froze, replaced by suspicion. It looked around at the empty den, scratching at it with its paws. "A-Zhu? A-Zhu? Where did you go?"

"I'm here," a voice said from above.

Jiang Ye curiously raised his head and looked around. He could only see a dark red sky, scorched black earth, and crackling sparks. He couldn't see anything else.

It spun around in a circle, "A-Zhu, where are you?"

A laugh came from mid-air, but it didn't tell it the answer.

Jiangye panicked, searching left and right, "Where is everyone?!"

Bai Chenzhu finally stopped teasing him, fluttered its wings and flew to its nose. Its small, snow-white wings brought a gentle breeze, and its two antennae on its head looked just like a little white flower that had gracefully arrived.

Jiang Ye nearly went cross-eyed. Although he wasn't entirely sure, he remembered seeing Bai Chenzhu in this form before. "...Butterfly? You think the most comfortable form is a butterfly?"

"It's very light, isn't it? It can be carried away by the wind, and it can go very, very far."

Jiang Ye's eyes flashed fiercely, "Don't you dare leave!"

It was just a metaphor, but I didn't expect Jiang Ye to be so nervous. Bai Chenzhu smiled and said, "Okay, I won't leave."

Jiang Ye curiously lifted his paw to hold the freshly baked little butterfly and looked at it again and again. Finally, unable to resist, he put the butterfly on his forehead, curled it up with it, and fell asleep.

The butterfly fluttered its wings gently, then finally stopped moving, perched on the wolf's head like an ornament, as if it too had fallen asleep.
