Chapter 2 Male Lead

Chapter 2 Male Lead

—The storm unleashed by this gene was powerful enough to destroy the planet Earth. At the time, people still mistook it for 'rabies'. The party at the upscale nightclub was incredibly lively. Jiang Ye, the playboy in the floral shirt, was nestled in a luxurious sofa, his arms around two stunningly beautiful women…

Bai Chenzhu remembered how "himself" appeared in the book, and he had a particularly deep impression of "himself's" role, even though it was a minor supporting character who occupied no more than 10,000 words in a book of millions of words.

Or rather, the only character I clearly remember from the whole book is that supporting character.

He has a congenital heart disease and is in very poor health. He works part-time as a waiter at a nightclub to earn money for his living expenses. Unexpectedly, he encounters Jiang Ye, a wicked playboy, and Wang Xinxin, the class beauty who confessed to him but was rejected and is now holding a grudge.

When the three groups clashed, Bai Chenzhu, who was being targeted by the two, was clearly at a disadvantage.

In the book, Wang Xinxin appears to be pleading for mercy, but in reality, she keeps stirring things up and deliberately acts as if "you will never be as good as him in my heart" in front of Jiang Ye, who is pursuing her.

During the conflict, Bai Chenzhu was kicked hard by the enraged Jiang Ye, fell to the ground, vomited blood, and fell ill. Jiang Ye thought he had caused someone's death, so his expression changed immediately, and he yelled for someone to call an ambulance.

Bai Chenzhu was hospitalized and remained unconscious.

Wang Xinxin and Jiang Ye had a fight. Jealous, Jiang Ye deliberately sent her to a VIP ward and used the cost of Bai Chenzhu's hospitalization to blackmail her. The two signed a master-servant agreement and flirted in the villa until the end of the world.

And 'Bai Chenzhu,' who was originally a sacrificial lamb in the couple's romantic game, never appeared again.

For some unknown reason, he found himself immersed in the book. He hadn't yet fainted as the original plot had suggested. Bai Chenzhu touched the large footprint on his chest and gasped.

He didn't know if the original owner was in pain, but the place where he was kicked was burning with pain. When he looked up at the culprit in front of him, Bai Chenzhu's eyes narrowed slightly.

"Tsk, what are you daydreaming about?" Jiang Ye kicked the expensive wooden table with displeasure, tilting it 30 degrees. The glassware on it rattled, and some of the wine in the glasses on the table sloshed and spilled onto the surface.

He sneered arrogantly, "Do you want to drink it yourself, or should I have someone 'invite' you to drink it?"

As soon as Jiang Ye uttered this, his cronies around him burst into laughter, and the room became noisy.

Bai Chenzhu stared intently at the seemingly respectable Jiang Ye, but to outsiders, he appeared to be merely stunned with fear.

The original protagonist, Jiang Ye, to put it nicely, has an antisocial personality; to put it bluntly, he's not a good person. He led people in a painstaking search for light in the darkness, but after finding the spark, he personally extinguished the light of the apocalypse in front of everyone's expectant gaze.

— He is a demon who, after becoming a 'god,' directly destroyed the world.

But what does that have to do with Bai Chenzhu? — This statement only applies up to the point where Bai Chenzhu transmigrates.

Now, he was killed by Jiang Ye's 'author father', but he has been reborn into the book, but according to the plot, he will be killed by the male lead later.

This is a very important matter.

Bai Chenzhu pursed her lips. Jiang Ye in front of her was clearly not the powerful and reliable leader of the base in the later stages, nor the "light of humanity" on whom so much hope was placed.

The current Jiang Ye is just the reckless, naive, and arrogant playboy from the first chapter of the novel, whose greatest hobbies are nothing more than smoking, drinking, racing cars, and chasing beauties.

Ten years! How can someone change so drastically in just ten years?

He felt dizzy and his vision blurred. The dim lighting in the private room made it difficult to distinguish reality from having his eyes open or closed.

"Hiss." Bai Chenzhu rubbed his forehead, and it took him a while to recover and stand up, and to calm down from the dizziness.

"Chenzhu, don't force yourself. He's just scaring you; how could he possibly cut off your hand?" Wang Xinxin looked at him with concern.

She should have kept quiet, because as soon as she spoke, Jiang Ye immediately had someone bring a knife and threw it on the table with a clatter, making his stance clear.

With a group of rich young men in front and a manager and a group of waiters behind, he was caught in a dilemma. Amidst the urging and jeering, Bai Chenzhu slowly picked up a glass of wine, dusted off the dirty footprints on his chest, and walked gracefully toward the sofa.

Jiang Ye, growing impatient, raised an eyebrow, thinking to himself that this weak, sickly fellow was nothing special, and even picking a fight with him seemed like a waste of time.

But so what? Jiang Ye thought for a moment, a smile from a beautiful woman is worth a thousand pieces of gold, and he was very interested in Wang Xinxin's two-faced appearance.

He likes interesting people.

As they approached, Bai Chenzhu stood before Jiang Ye and Wang Xinxin, holding a wine glass.

Jiang Ye assumed he was going to apologize and offer a toast, so he curled his lips, raised his chin, and although he was looking up at him, his eyes were full of disdain. Wang Xinxin, on the other hand, looked worried, with a hint of unspoken emotion in her expression.

Under everyone's gaze, Bai Chenzhu calmly poured the wine over the two men's heads as if watering flowers. The golden liquid poured down their hair, soaking their clothes in a disheveled state.

The room was deathly silent, so quiet that even breathing could barely be heard.

Their gazes, some horrified, some fierce, were fixed on the young man in the white shirt and black pants.

As if oblivious to the scorching gazes around him, Bai Chenzhu tilted his head and uttered his first words since transmigrating: "Apologize, are you satisfied?"

The tone of those five words didn't fluctuate much; it was precisely this indifference that made the mockery all the more apparent.

Bai Chenzhu released his grip, and the wine glass shattered on the carpet. A sarcastic smile played on his lips, a silent provocation.

Jiang Ye suddenly sat up straight, staring intently at the culprit, the muscles in his arms tensing from the exertion. He shook the liquor off his forehead, his eyes reddening from the pungent taste of the alcohol.

Before Jiang Ye could react, Bai Chenzhu picked up the fruit knife and casually toyed with it, the flash of the blade dazzling the eyes. The next second, his eyes flashed, and amidst the screams of the crowd, he furiously and swiftly stabbed the fruit into the armrest of the sofa to Jiang Ye's right.

The cold blade pressed against Bai Chenzhu's unharmed arm. Jiang Ye, who had just threatened to cut off Bai Chenzhu's hand, trembled violently. His heart was pounding so hard it felt like it would jump out of his throat. He stared at Bai Chenzhu, his throat feeling like it was glued shut, unable to utter a single word.

Throughout, Bai Chenzhu's gaze as he looked down at him remained far too calm, like the most composed madman, with a turbulent storm lurking beneath his dark eyes, enough to engulf everything.

Jiang Ye's heart pounded with excitement, and he had no doubt that this man had genuinely intended to stab him in the palm of his hand. A glint of light flashed in his sinister eyes, and he abruptly pushed the woman away from him, his expression dark as he prepared to get up.

At this moment, Bai Chenzhu had already turned around, bent down and was lifting the Chinese wooden table full of wine. The table seemed to be a little heavy. After lifting it a few centimeters, he paused and then flipped it over!

Amidst screams from an even higher level, wine glasses shattered on the floor, shards flying everywhere.

The room was small and dimly lit. People and staff around the sofa were jostling and pushing each other to avoid splashed wine and glass shards, creating a chaotic scene.

"Cypress! Dust! Bamboo!"

Amidst the low growls, Bai Chenzhu, who had been slipping through the crowd and leaving the room in the chaos, paused, then resolutely stepped out the door. In that instant, something seemed to change in the depths of his being.

Bai Chenzhu felt his soul break free from some kind of restraint, like emerging from the suffocating seabed, breathing in fresh air with genuine greed, and gaining hope to live.

He frowned slightly, pondering as he elegantly wiped his pale hands with a tissue before pressing the elevator button.

In the chaotic room, the manager kept apologizing, while his cronies insulted the person who had just left. Wang Xinxin took the opportunity to slip away... The farce lost its main character, but it was still noisy and annoying.

Jiang Ye, standing in the center of the room, changed his expression slightly, clenched his fists, and looked serious.

Without a doubt, he was proud and would never allow a sickly person to get ahead of him. He was also arrogant, seeking revenge on the spot and venting his anger immediately.

Jiang Ye suddenly felt a reckless impulse, an urge to knock that arrogant guy into the mud.

Right here! Right now!

Jiang Ye opened his sharp, burning eyes and changed his mind. He shoved aside the person blocking his way, his long legs quickening until he burst out the door.

As the elevator doors were about to close, through a crack, Bai Chenzhu saw Jiang Ye's footsteps quickening until he finally rushed towards him.

Jiang Ye and Bai Chenzhu silently pondered these two words. The male lead.

Instead of rushing to cling to his leg, he seemed afraid of not drawing enough hatred, so he slowly raised his right hand and held up his longest finger in Jiang Ye's bloodshot gaze.

Jiang Ye's eyes were so fierce they seemed ready to kill him. Bai Chenzhu, who was playing with fire, raised an eyebrow, his sharp phoenix eyes revealing a silent provocation.

Bai Chenzhu admitted that he was completely taking his anger out on the male lead. Since he had acted impulsively and offended the man thoroughly, Jiang Ye would not let him off even if he knelt down and kowtowed several times.

Well then... let's have some fun first! This darling of the world isn't the 'God of War' he'll be ten years from now, so what's he afraid of?

Suddenly, a broad and powerful hand slipped through the gap and abruptly gripped the closing elevator door, the bulging veins on the back of the hand displaying its strength to the fullest.

Through the narrowing gap, Bai Chenzhu's eyes flickered slightly, and his cold gaze fell on Jiang Ye, who was covered in alcohol.

Jiang Ye's facial features are deep and aggressive; one glance is enough to see the arrogance of a playboy on his face.

At that moment, he stared fiercely at the people in the elevator, like a wild wolf, his teeth clenched, yet he suddenly laughed, "Run? You think you can escape?"

In his entire life, he had met powerful and wealthy people who looked down on him and disdained to associate with him, as well as people who fawned over him. But he had never met someone like Bai Chenzhu, who came from a humble background and dared to embarrass him to his face.

Good, very good, excellent. He likes interesting things, and he especially enjoys watching them being humiliated.

This doesn't sound friendly. Bai Chenzhu brushed the footprints off his shirt, his gaze naturally passing over Jiang Ye's shoulder to look behind him, a puzzled expression on his face: "Wang Xinxin?"

Jiang Ye reflexively turned around to look, but unexpectedly felt a pain in his chest. He watched helplessly as he stumbled back more than a meter and fell hard onto the carpet.

"You dare to use underhanded tactics!" Jiang Ye stood up, supporting himself with one hand. He looked at Bai Chenzhu, who had withdrawn his foot, with a mixture of shock and anger. He had never been repeatedly humiliated by anyone before.

Bai Chenzhu, who was pressing the close button, curled his lips into a smile that wasn't quite a smile. His gaze fell on the fresh footprints on Bai Chenzhu's floral shirt, and he was quite satisfied.

He uttered a few words lightly from his thin lips, "Just returning it to you."

Whether it's the liquor, the knife, or the footprints, I'll return it all to you.

This time, the elevator doors closed smoothly.

Bai Chenzhu watched quietly as the red numbers dropped from 15.

The reflection in the iron gate revealed a handsome, moon-like face. However, his pale complexion made him appear as if he had just recovered from a serious illness, making the normally inconspicuous beauty mark at the corner of his right eye appear excessively red.

He had seen this face for nearly thirty years. What stirred ripples in Bai Chenzhu's heart was the small, hollowed-out ginkgo leaf earring on his left ear.

It's exactly the same as the one he always carries!

Because it was so familiar, he didn't immediately feel the weight beside his ear.

How could this be? Bai Chenzhu's heart pounded like a drum. He touched his left ear, his lips trembling as he pursed them. His dark eyes revealed the intense emotions he had been experiencing all night, churning and threatening to engulf him.

What seems real may be fake, and what seems fake may be real. He closed his eyes, carefully holding the ginkgo leaf, his emotions churning like waves crashing against his reason.

After a long while, Bai Chenzhu exhaled a breath of turbid air and stared at the reflection. He raised his hand and traced the outline of the reflection in mid-air, as if deep in thought: Not only did the earring come with me, but the person in the book and I not only have the same name, but also the same appearance?

With so many illogical points, the questions about the body seem almost irrelevant.

He slowly took off the ill-fitting vest and casually tossed it into the elevator. He then loosened the silly-looking bow tie around his throat, tossed it onto the vest in the corner, loosened the overly tight collar, and finally let out a sigh of relief.

Anyway, they survived.

After the door opened, he took a long stride and left the bustling building complex before anyone else could react.

It was dark outside, and only private cars were passing by. He walked a few meters, felt in his pocket, and pulled out a cell phone.

Bai Chenzhu researched how to hail a taxi. Fortunately, the author's worldview was based on his past world, so many common sense principles were applicable.

While waiting, Bai Chenzhu sat on a plastic chair at a roadside barbecue stall, staring blankly at the streetlights.

He was still reeling from the fact that he had died and come back to life, transmigrated into a book, and recklessly hit the male lead. He was completely stunned, like a wooden sculpture.

God have mercy, he's just an ordinary working man. If the apocalypse really comes, how will he survive?

"Bai Chenzhu!" The roar pierced the sky, forcing the 'wood carving' to come back to its senses.

Bai Chenzhu rubbed the bridge of his nose, stood up and turned around to see Jiang Ye striding towards him menacingly, each step a silent threat. His eyes were as fiery as molten lava, and his whole being was like a ball of fire. As he approached, without saying a word, he clenched his fists and pounced on Bai Chenzhu.

If you get hit by that, you're bound to get a heavy punch.

Bai Chenzhu quickly took a step back, but was unable to leave smoothly.

Slightly out of breath, Jiang Ye quickly grabbed his collar and pulled him back. Their faces were so close that Jiang Ye could see the ginkgo leaf gently swaying on Bai Chenzhu's left ear.

Bai Chenzhu turned around and saw the male lead's appearance clearly.

Jiang Ye had thick eyebrows that weighed down his large eyes, giving him a fierce appearance. His slightly round eyes somehow managed to soften his menacing look.

He looks like he could eat human flesh alive; even a child would cry all night if they saw him. And yet, he's panting like a ferocious beast.

"Let go." Bai Chenzhu frowned, gripped his wrist tightly, and forced him to release his grip.

Jiang Ye wouldn't let go, grabbing the other person's collar and punching Bai Chenzhu hard in the face.

Bai Chenzhu was hit so hard that his head tilted to the side, he saw stars, and his mind went blank for half a minute.

Once he came to his senses, he pressed the tip of his tongue against the flesh of his cheek and tasted the familiar metallic flavor. A surge of anger rose within him, and he roared in retaliation, "You son of a bitch!"

Seeing Jiang Ye about to bring down his fist, Bai Chenzhu couldn't pry Jiang Ye's wrist off his collar, so he simply raised his knee and kicked him hard in the groin, sending him flying.

A thud echoed as Jiang Ye's knees struck the concrete. He clutched his groin in disbelief, his face contorted in pain. He looked up at the sinister Bai Chenzhu, his eyes blazing with fury. "Damn it!"

Bai Chenzhu tilted his head, seemingly amused by his 'incredulity'. The leather shoes slowly moved forward two steps, stopping just a hand's breadth away from Jiang Ye's knees.

The man in the white shirt bent down and gently patted Jiang Ye's cheek. He smiled, but the smile didn't reach his eyes; his dark eyes were full of threat and a hint of annoyance. "Little brother, if you want to fight, then fight. Do you think I'm playing with you?"

Jiang Ye endured the pain and gasped for breath. Despite being in a very sorry state and at a disadvantage, his raised eyebrows suddenly opened, and he laughed hysterically, his shoulders shaking. "Hahaha, Bai, Chen, Zhu."

He chewed on the name, his smile gradually fading, his eyes filled with a sinister glint, as if he wanted to devour the person in front of him alive. "Tonight, I'm going to cripple you!"

Jiang Ye completely shed all his burdens, his hidden ferocity unleashed, and he chased after Bai Chenzhu like a mad dog. Bai Chenzhu was tall and slender, but he was not at a disadvantage.

The two wrestled and punched each other, each determined to kill the other.

During the scuffle, they even overturned the plastic tables and chairs at the barbecue stall.

The boss was a bald man with a fierce-looking appearance. He tried to pull two people but couldn't budge them no matter what he did, making the big man so anxious that he almost cried.

The stray dog tied to the door suddenly stood up, baring its teeth and barking incessantly at the outside.

This road leads directly to the outskirts of the city, and is quite remote. Along the way, there are barbecue stalls, fruit stalls, and an entertainment complex, which is the same building complex where the two of them just came out.

The boss was hoping someone would come and help break up the fight, but he just stared longingly at the dark road.

A pair of red eyes quietly appeared in the darkness. Accompanied by the sound of chewing, a middle-aged man with a large belly and wearing a T-shirt walked unsteadily into the light. The stray dog was so frightened that it hid in a corner, trembling.

The middle-aged man's eyes were bloodshot, and he held a large watermelon in his stiff hands. He mechanically gnawed on the watermelon rind and bit into the flesh, chewing with a crunching sound, but he didn't swallow. He would take a bite, chew it, and then spit it out, his mouth full of red juice. At first glance, it looked very strange.

The middle-aged man walked into the barbecue stall, and the owner, who was trying to separate the two men, shouted from afar, "Uncle, come and help me! These two guys are going to overturn my stall..."

Before he could finish speaking, the middle-aged man's eyes lit up as if he had spotted a piece of meat. He casually tossed aside the heavy watermelon, drooling as he pounced on the two men wrestling.

Before the boss could catch his breath, he watched in horror as the middle-aged man opened his mouth wide and bit Jiang Ye's arm hard.
