Chapter 434 The Humiliation of Defeat
Before they could react, Meng Shiwan shattered the surrounding spatial cage and, amidst the enemy's incredulous expressions, flashed to the front of the gleaming missile hurtling towards the Dawn Base.
With a gentle flick of his wrist, the familiar spatial rift reappeared, and the missile fell into it and disappeared without a trace.
When it reappeared, the missile had already landed at the very far edge of the zombie horde, and with a deafening roar, the explosion was far more spectacular than any of the previous missiles.
The entire ground shook three times as a result.
The missile struck a spot that created a huge crater, leaving the surrounding area empty for hundreds of meters, where all the zombies were wiped out.
This is no small matter. The explosion killed at least hundreds of thousands of zombies, demonstrating the extraordinary power of this missile.
The violent shaking of the ground caused the people at Dawn Base to fall to the ground, each showing a look of lingering fear.
The residents of the base clearly saw Meng Shiwan engaging the enemy in the sky and transferring missiles.
They dared not imagine that if that strange missile, flashing with an odd light, had landed inside the Dawn Base, the base would probably have been razed to the ground by now.
"The base commander is truly our guardian angel. Without him, we would have died countless times."
"I can't worry about that anymore, I'm going to the front lines to do my part in fighting off the zombie horde."
"The base commander has done so much for us without saying a word. We can no longer be timid and cowardly. If we want to win, we must unite as one."
The scene of Meng Shiwan fighting against hundreds of superhumans all by herself really got the timid residents in the base who dared not go to the front line excited, and they all shouted that they wanted to do their part for the base.
While the residents were excited, the superhumans standing on the wall had a completely different feeling.
"Wow, wow, wow, this is incredible! The island nation's missiles are amazing. I wish they had a few more."
"A few won't be enough. If we had a few dozen more, we could probably wipe out most of these terrifying zombie hordes."
"That missile just now was glowing with colorful light. It didn't look like an ordinary missile at all. What kind of good person would make a missile and put cool lights on it? What, do people who get killed by these missiles dance to the lights after they die?"
"This power is extraordinary. Based on my research on military affairs, I've never seen a missile like this before."
In the air, Meng Shiwan unfolded her wings and slowly flew back to the enemy. She smirked and said sarcastically, "Oh ho, thanks for the Cloud Piercing Arrow. Give me a few more. One isn't enough. As you can see, we have a lot of zombies here. Don't be stingy. Throw out all your weapons. I won't mind as many as you want."
Island nation's superhumans: ...
For a moment, they hovered in the snow-covered air, somewhat disoriented and silent.
The scene was completely different from what they had imagined.
They assumed that their aggressive arrival was surely to kill Meng Shiwan.
Even if they can't kill Meng Shiwan, they have to destroy the Dawn Base, so that Meng Shiwan will be too busy saving the people who have fallen on the base to deal with him, and then they can take action against Meng Shiwan.
But what's the situation now?
They not only failed to harm Meng Shiwan in the slightest, but also failed to damage the Dawn Base in the slightest. In fact, their attacks were a boon to the enemy.
Neither firearms, nor supernatural attacks, nor the advanced weapons they brought could have any effect on Meng Shiwan's spatial rift.
It can't be said that it had no effect at all; at least it helped Dawn Base clear out hundreds of thousands of zombies, so it was still quite useful.
Thinking about this, the faces of these superhumans darkened, and they quietly huddled together to discuss it.
"Something's not right. The spatial cage was created by an eighth-level ability user, so how could she break through it so easily? Is she really an eighth-level ability user? Is an eighth-level ability user that strong?"
"Of course not. She calmly deflected all our attacks. She's definitely not an eighth-level ability user; she's a ninth-level ability user."
"What do we do now? Keep fighting?"
"What's the point of fighting? Our attacks are only benefiting them. How can we fight back? We can't win a single battle."
"Let's retreat, let's retreat first. This woman is too strange."
After they finished discussing, the captain with the mustache waved his hand, and hundreds of superhumans turned and ran.
All their initial ambitions had vanished without a trace.
Meng Shiwan clenched her fists together, loosening them slightly. "Run? Do you think this is a place where you can come and go as you please?"
She conjured a tornado, and its enormous eye swept towards the fleeing superhumans, pulling them directly into it with no chance to fight back.
Meng Shiwan controlled the tornado, bringing it above the zombie horde. Then, she released the wind force, causing hundreds of superhumans to fall into the zombie horde with a whoosh.
As soon as they appeared, the swarming zombies lunged at them, baring their teeth and claws, and instantly overwhelmed them.
Still in shock, the superhumans didn't care about anything else and immediately used their powers to drive away the zombies swarming around them.
The mustachioed captain had just shaken away all the zombies around him when he shouted in a panic, "Wind-type ability users, quick, take all the ability users into the air!"
Those wind-type ability users were also panicked. Even high-level ability users found it extremely difficult to extricate themselves from such a terrifying horde of zombies.
The wind-type ability user panicked and grabbed the nearest ability user to fly up, attempting to escape the zombie horde's attack.
However, just as they took flight, several thick ice spikes appeared beside them, piercing through the heads of the wind-type ability users. The wind-type ability users who had just taken flight were completely dead and fell back into the zombie horde.
Other ability users who were brought along by the wind-type ability user also fell back into the zombie horde.
The zombies engulfed them again. Several superhumans were unable to dodge in time and were scratched by the zombies' claws, showing signs of mutation.
Other quick-reacting superhumans, though they managed to fend off the zombies surrounding them, were filled with despair.
Without wind-type ability users, they would not be able to leave from the air.
Fighting your way out of this seemingly endless horde of zombies is even more difficult.
Then they only have one option left: to fight the zombies head-on in this zombie horde until their powers are completely exhausted, they can no longer unleash any attacks, and are finally swallowed up by the zombies.
When they came, they considered the possibility of failure, but they never expected to fail so thoroughly and so humiliatingly.
They caused no harm to Meng Shiwan and the Dawn Base; instead, they became tools for the enemy to hunt down the zombie horde, using their own lives to help the enemy.
This is the most humiliating defeat in the world.
