Wu siblings

Wu siblings

"Sister?" Lin Yueyao looked at Rong Yan in confusion. He stood between the two of them and eagerly grabbed Wu Jinfeng's sleeve. "Sister, I'm your younger brother!"

Inside the room, the fighting ceased, replaced by a sense of bewilderment. Song Qingyun controlled Du Shaoyou, while Lin Yueyao was entangled by Wu Jinfeng.

"Younger brother?" Wu Jinfeng had no parents since childhood and only remembered her name. Where did this younger brother come from?

"Your father is Wu An, your mother is Meng Lan, and you lived in Lanxi Town. Do you remember?" Rong Yan helped her recall.

Wu Jinfeng thought to herself, and unconsciously loosened the hand that was holding Lin Yueyao.

"You have a phoenix birthmark on the back of your neck, am I right?"

Her hand touched the back of her neck, and there was indeed a pink birthmark that looked like a phoenix. It was usually covered by her clothes, and no one except Du Shaoyou knew about it.

In her memory, there was such a couple. To deepen her impression, Rong Yan recounted the trivial things from her childhood.

Gradually, long-buried memories suddenly became clear.

"Are you really my brother?" Wu Jinfeng asked, tears welling in her eyes, as she touched Rong Yan's face, sensing the shadows of her parents in him. "Are Father and Mother alright?"

Rong Yan's eyes were red-rimmed. He wiped away his tears and choked out, "They are gone."

Upon hearing this, Wu Jinfeng nearly fainted. If Rong Yan hadn't been supporting her, she probably would have collapsed to the ground.

Song Qingyun, who was standing to the side, watched in bewilderment and asked, "Junior Sister, what exactly is going on?"

Lin Yueyao was kept in the dark and remained an observer, listening to the brother and sister reminisce.

"You two are actually long-lost siblings," Shangguan Zhi exclaimed.

Just then, the noise outside drew closer, and it was Qi Qian'er's voice.

After sleeping for so many days and taking the medicine given by the God of Ill-fatedness, she is now able to get out of bed and walk around.

Du Shaoyou, incredulous, questioned Song Qingyun, "Did you bring them here?"

"It's me." Lin Yueyao frankly admitted that, based on her intuition, Du Shaoyou must have entered the Hidden Sword Pavilion to hide someone.

That's why she secretly informed the supervisor.

Two celestial maidens supported Qi Qian'er, with the supervisor walking beside her. Qi Qian'er angrily cursed, "You wretch, you plotted against me, you will suffer a terrible death."

With a cold look in his eyes, the supervisor's men quickly subdued Du Shaoyou and brought him to the ground.

Du Shaoyou was a mortal with no cultivation to rely on, so he couldn't break free, but he still argued, "Why don't you think about why I schemed against you?"

"Who knows what you're thinking? You killed my father, hurt my child, and even tried to take my life. I will never forgive you." Qi Qian'er gasped for breath, her face deathly pale.

Du Shaoyou sneered, closed his eyes, and lay bound on the ground. He opened his eyes and glanced at Wu Jinfeng. "If you want to kill or torture me, just come at me. Jinfeng is innocent."

"Dream on—when you protected this little bitch and pushed me to the ground, did you ever think about this day?" Qi Qian'er sneered.

"Madam, please don't speak so harshly." Shangguan Zhi became dissatisfied. Her little phoenix only ended up like this because he misjudged people, not because he broke any heavenly rules.

"This is none of your business," the supervisor said coldly.

"How is this none of my business?!" Shangguan Zhi retorted. Although the Bureau of Ill-fated Women and the Hehuan Sect came from the same lineage, they kept to themselves and did not interfere with each other. If they really fought, it would inevitably end badly.

Shangguan Zhi walked to Wu Jinfeng's side, took her hand, and said, "Little Phoenix, come with me."

“Aunt…” Wu Jinfeng hesitated, placing her hand on her protruding belly.

Upon seeing this scene, Qi Qian'er was immediately provoked and shouted that she was about to take action.

The women of the immortal sects couldn't stop her. Song Qingyun wanted to stop her, but due to the difference between men and women, he awkwardly reached out his hand and froze on the spot.

It was Lin Yueyao who stepped in, grabbing Qi Qian'er around the waist and saying in a deep voice, "Calm down."

"Rong Yan, come here." She comforted the woman in her arms and called to her junior brother. Seeing Rong Yan stubbornly entangled with the fox demon, her face was already displeased.

Rong Yan glanced at his sister, then lowered his head and walked to Lin Yueyao's side, tightly holding her sleeve.

But the next moment, Rong Yan touched something in his sleeve and immediately tossed it to Shangguan Zhi.

Shangguan Zhi swiftly took it; inside the pouch was her severed tail. Overjoyed, she exclaimed, "Little brother, well done—"

Rong Yan left her side and returned to Wu Jinfeng's side, leaving Lin Yueyao stunned.

"I'm sorry, Senior Sister." Rong Yan didn't even dare to look up at her, hiding behind Wu Jinfeng.

Wu Jinfeng protected him, her tone reproachful, "You scared my brother."

"I am his senior sister." Lin Yueyao almost gritted her teeth, glaring angrily. Rong Yan saw her gaze and shrank back in fear.

He had promised his parents that he would take his sister back, so he still had important things to do.

"Rong Yan, humans and demons are different." She stopped Qi Qian'er, suddenly understanding the other's feelings about wanting to kill. "Do you want this older sister, or me, your senior sister?"

Rong Yan remained silent for a moment, the answer being self-evident.

"Asking about love—"

Wenqing appeared as summoned, taking shape in her palm. Seeing that she was about to make a move, Song Qingyun hurriedly stopped her, "Junior Sister—"

"Junior brother must have been bewitched. You must stay calm."

How could he remain calm? He befriended demons and monsters, without even asking their names or origins, and readily accepted some so-called sister after just a few words, completely unaware that he had been deceived.

"Junior brother, do you even know what your so-called sister has done?" Song Qingyun said in a gentle voice, "Before your senior sister gets angry, quickly admit your mistake."

“No.” He revealed his eyes, which were as black as lacquer and very bright. “My sister is a good person. She has suffered a lot of injustices and has not done anything wrong.”

If anyone has to admit fault, it should be Du Shaoyou, who was the instigator.

"Interfering in a marriage and causing the couple to turn against each other, is that not wrong?" Lin Yueyao retorted angrily.

Rong Yan was speechless, but Du Shaoyou still said, "This was not Jin Feng's fault in the first place; it was me who insisted on pestering her."

"Exactly! You're a man with a family, yet you still want to rekindle your old flame with my junior sister, two-timing her. What kind of good thing is that?" Shangguan Zhi said disdainfully. "If you ask me, just deal with her quickly, so we don't have to argue and make a scene."

"We can't let this go—" Qi Qian'er protested, "I want those two scoundrels to pay the price!!!"

"Cousin, please don't get angry anymore," Song Qingyun comforted her.

"I'll ask you one last time, are you coming with me or not?" Lin Yueyao's patience was running out, and she didn't even call his name.

“My dear fairy, please don’t force my brother. Let’s not even talk about whether he wants to go with you or not. Now I am his sister, and I will make the decision for him. It’s none of your business.”

Shangguan Zhi chimed in, "With our little brother, there's much more hope than with your lousy sect."

No, he just wanted to fulfill his promise to his parents, not leave his senior sister. Just as Rong Yan was about to explain, Song Qingyun became unusually angry, "You wicked devil!"

Lin Yueyao suddenly laughed, but the smile didn't reach her eyes, which was chilling.

She said, "Very good." Lin Yueyao let go of Qi Qian'er and grabbed Song Qingyun's hand instead. "Senior brother, let's go."

This scene was completely witnessed by Rong Yan. His senior sister was such an arrogant person who didn't like to get close to others, and even less liked being touched by others. But now, because of him, she was holding his senior brother's hand, and holding it so tightly.

Rong Yan felt a lump in his throat, and for the first time, he didn't find his senior brother so pleasing to the eye.

Shock outweighed joy. Seeing that she was not angry, Song Qingyun was pulled outside in a daze.

The space between them expanded to twice its original size, and the two of them stood on it, floating into the clouds.

Hidden in the clouds, Song Qingyun hesitated. The manor was in chaos, his father was still recovering from his illness, and Du Shaoyou had murdered his cousin, committing such a heinous act. The mess was all waiting for him to clean up.

They just left without explanation, who knows how many jokes they'll make.

The questioning stopped, and a cool mist swept past her ears. Lin Yueyao stood in front of him, knowing what he was worried about.

"Go ahead."

Fortunately, my junior sister understood. "I'll go back to the sect with you after I've sorted everything out."

Seemingly worried, he reminded her again before leaving, "Junior sister, please wait for me. I'll be right back."

Although he said this, Lin Yueyao knew the matter was thorny. She remained silent until Song Qingyun had completely left, then rode Wenqing towards the direction of Piaomiao Sect.

Having traveled through the night, her body was damp with dew, and her hair was disheveled. The disciples guarding the mountain didn't recognize her. The imposing Lin Yueyao they remembered was nowhere to be seen in such a disheveled state. Although Lin Yueyao didn't say anything, her lingering authority was still evident; a single glance was enough to say it all.

She did not live in the disciples' quarters, but in a side hall of the Wenyuan Hall.

Master Xuantong knew about it from the moment she entered the sect alone.

Having weathered many storms, Master Xuantong knew that Rong Yan was unharmed, so he asked no further questions.

Even husband and wife can have disagreements, let alone fellow disciples.

After learning what had happened, Master Xuantong comforted her, saying, "My dear disciple, don't be angry. When Rong Yan returns, I will have him personally apologize to you."

"Who is Rong Yan?" she asked in return.

Master Xuantong thought to himself, "I'm done for. This isn't just anger; I've been completely offended."

Although my beloved student always listens to me, if he doesn't listen to me, then it's a serious matter.

More than half a month has passed since Lin Yueyao returned. Even Song Qingyun has returned to the mountain to report. Only Rong Yan is lingering outside. Judging from Song Qingyun's words, he is dealing with some private matters.

Without Rong Yan by her side, life became much quieter. Lin Yueyao cultivated in the Wenyuan Hall every day, and finally one day, she successfully entered the Core Formation stage, which meant that she had entered the Golden Core stage.

This should have been a cause for celebration, but the sect's assessment was scheduled for half a month later.

The sect is preparing for the assessment in an orderly manner, which has caused some people great distress.

Master Xuantong was worried about Rong Yan. He was away from home and didn't know if he had made any progress in the past year. If he failed the test, he would be kicked out.

The old man's shadow flickered in front of him, and Master Xuantong was filled with worry.

"Master, everyone has their own destiny."

These past few days, when Rong Yan was mentioned, Lin Yueyao no longer had a disdainful expression on her face; instead, she appeared quite peaceful.

That being said, the outcome will vary from person to person.

Just as the master and disciple were talking in the hall, other disciples from the sect rushed in, "Elder, Senior Sister, Junior Brother Rong Yan has returned."
