Chapter 32: Beast of Prey
The rain outside had not stopped yet, and Cui Junji clearly felt that the softness on his wrist was no longer stiff and resistant, but instead had an unconscious, dependent compliance.
The clumsy, unconscious sucking, the soft and nimble tip of the tongue gently scratched the most sensitive heartstrings. His previously forcibly maintained, ice-like willpower, at this moment, clearly emitted an overwhelmed, shattering whine.
He lowered his eyes and fixed them on her face.
The woman's cheeks flushed, a delicate, alluring blush. Her misty eyes were half-lidded, her long eyelashes wet with tears and rain, like butterfly wings broken by a storm, so fragile it made one's heart tremble.
Her lips became more rosy and slightly swollen due to the grinding just now, with a ravaged and thrilling beauty.
She was now completely dependent and defenseless, nestling in his arms, like a young animal that had found a shelter. That ignorant trust, that pure demand twisted by poison, was like a poisoned dagger, piercing his shaky moral defenses.
The suppressed darkness in Cui Junji's eyes erupted like a ferocious beast freed from its chains! It was no longer a struggle, but a completely lost, desperate desire to plunder. He let out a suppressed, animal-like growl from his throat, and suddenly tightened his iron arm around her waist!
What had originally been a simple act of transferring blood suddenly became a distorted act. He had already drunk enough blood. No longer satisfied with the touch of lips and the transfer of blood, he leaned down and forcefully replaced his wrist with his lips.
The tip of his tongue, with its scorching heat and irresistible force, conquered her, completely robbing her of every breath and faint response. It was a kiss filled with the scent of blood, yet burning with blazing flames, tinged with a desperate madness and a long-suppressed possessiveness that finally burst forth.
The cold and heavy raindrops hit Cui Junji's straight back and also his confused heart.
The heat surged downwards, and he found a hotter kind of person, who wrapped him up and hugged him tightly; he allowed her to stretch and release.
Cui Junji was like a ferocious beast, without any worries or ethics, only the most primitive waves inspired by life and death, rushing up, reaching the peak, and finally collapsing.
The body in my arms finally returned to normal, the rapid breathing gradually became long and even, and the terrifying paleness slowly faded away like the tide.
Suddenly, Cui Junji slowly raised his head. There was still a strong smell of blood between his lips and teeth, and a subtle, heart-swaying sweetness on her lips.
Reason re-emerged like a reef after the tide receded, cold and sharp, and instantly pulled him out of the out-of-control, burning abyss.
What did he do?
His gaze fell on Wen Youqing's face. The woman leaned unconsciously in his arms, her long eyelashes drooping, casting a fragile shadow on her pale cheeks. Her lips were slightly swollen, showing the traces of being ravaged.
Looking down, there were red marks mixed with the bruises from the wound.
A huge, overwhelming panic and an unprecedented sense of self-loathing suddenly seized him! He loosened his arms around her waist almost as if he had been electrocuted, and his body suddenly moved back, as if she were some kind of poison that would kill him if touched.
His movements were too hasty, causing the wound on his head to ache. He groaned in pain, and cold sweat instantly soaked through his already damp clothes, mixing with the rain and sliding down.
At least it kept him awake for a moment. He supported his body with his arms in a panic, gasping for breath. The cold air he inhaled into his lungs was unable to calm the burning fire in his chest.
His eyes were fixed on a piece of gravel on the ground that was shiny from being washed by rain, and he didn't dare to look at her again.
It was he who planned to cancel the marriage!
That's someone else's wife!
She was a vicious, rude, and unmannered little girl!
The madness of that moment was even worse than falling off a cliff, and there was no way back.
But he liked her so much, physiologically.
Cui Junji forced himself to calm down.
After a moment, his trembling fingers reached for her neck. Though the pulse beneath his fingers was still a little weak, it was no longer as frantic as before and had become much more steady. The deadly Red Kiss Orchid poison had actually been temporarily suppressed by this method of drinking poison to quench thirst.
Cui Junji's tense nerves relaxed slightly, but then he was locked in a heavier shackle. He took off his soaked and tattered outer robe and roughly covered Wen Youqing with it.
The cloth was also wet, so it would be better not to cover it. The flint couldn't be used, so they could only freeze here.
After thinking for a moment, Cui Junji covered Wen Youqing's curled up body and carefully moved her to the most sheltered and relatively dry place on the inner side of the stone platform.
It was unknown how long it had been, so long that Cui Junji almost thought that the rainstorm would never end. Then, a very weak ray of light struggled to penetrate the thick and gloomy rain clouds and fell sparingly on the wet stone platform.
The rain finally subsided, changing from a violent lash to a gentle weeping.
At this moment, a chaotic shouting sound, coming from far away and getting closer, penetrated the drizzle and came faintly from the top of the cliff above!
"Miss--!"
"Master Cui—! Madam Shen—!"
They are the Wen family's guards! And Cui Junji's personal soldiers!
Cui Junji suddenly looked up, his eyes flashing with a sharp light of survival! He stood up suddenly, his movement causing the wound to be injured. His brows furrowed for a moment, but he did not pause.
He immediately put on his clothes, strode to the edge of the stone platform, and looked up at the clifftop where the sound came from. Raindrops lashed his resolute face. He took a deep breath, gathered his strength, and let out a loud and penetrating howl!
The whistling sound was like a dragon's roar, resounding in the valley after the rain, and coming up clearly.
The shouts from the top of the cliff suddenly stopped, and then an even greater surprise response broke out!
"Down there! I heard it! It's Master Cui!"
"Quick! Release the rope! Quick!"
Soon, several thick ropes tied with slacklines were carefully thrown down from the top of the cliff and hung on the edge of the stone platform.
Help is coming.
Without hesitation, Cui Junji turned around and quickly walked towards the still-drowsy Wen Youqing. He leaned over, his movements carefully, almost stiffly, avoiding any sensitive areas of her body. He carefully passed his arms under her body and around her knees, lifting her up steadily.
After three days of chewing grass, the woman's body was very light, almost weightless in his strong arms, with the weakness and coldness of illness.
Wen Youqing's messy hair brushed against Cui Junji's jaw, causing a slight itch that instantly tensed his muscles. Without looking away, Cui Junji held her in his arms and walked quickly toward the hanging rope. His movements were swift and steady, as if he were holding a Buddha statue that could not be desecrated.
The rope was tied firmly around his waist. Cui Junji held Wen Youqing tightly with one hand and grabbed the rope with the other, sending a signal to the cliff.
"pull!"
The rope suddenly tightened, a tremendous pull. Cui Junji gritted his teeth, using his body as a shield to protect the person in his arms. He pressed his feet against the slippery cliff face for support, and with difficulty, he climbed up the rope, inch by inch, away from the desperate abyss that had trapped them for nearly two days. Rainwater and icy water seeping from the rock wall continuously washed down, but he remained steady, protecting her, his back bearing all the impact and cold.
When his feet finally touched the solid, flat ground of the clifftop, Cui Junji squinted his eyes subconsciously at the glaring sunlight. The Wen family guards and several personal soldiers, who had been waiting for a long time, immediately surrounded him, their faces filled with anxiety and relief.
"Miss! How are you?" Sishi's voice was filled with tears, and she reached out to take the person in Cui Junji's arms.
"Madam has been frightened, her shoulder dislocated, and possibly her internal organs shaken. She also accidentally ingested poisonous grass, leaving her extremely weak." Cui Junji's voice was unusually steady, clear, and rapid, with a businesslike calm. He glanced at the visitor, and without a moment's hesitation, a hint of contempt and pride rose in his heart.
Cui Junji carefully handed Wen Youqing to Sishi. His movements were quick and decisive, without a trace of lingering regret, as if he had been relieved of a heavy responsibility. "Send the lady home immediately. Seek the best doctor to treat her. Make sure she rests."
Sishi carefully took his young lady in his arms, blaming Cui Junji for his unkindness in his heart, but looking at the pale and haggard little face, he nodded repeatedly with heartache and had no time to care about anything else.
Only in an unknown place, Cui Junji's eyes quickly passed over Wen Youqing's peaceful sleeping face, like a dragonfly skimming the water, and then moved away without a trace. He turned to his guards, his tone returning to his usual cold and hard tone: "Have you made any progress in tracking down the clues of the assassins?"
The guard immediately stepped forward and reported the situation in a low voice.
No one noticed that when Wen Youqing was surrounded by guards and carefully lifted into a makeshift soft bag, Cui Junji's hand hanging by his side curled up slightly, almost imperceptibly, and his knuckles turned blue and white due to the force.
Cui Junji turned his back to the crowd and looked down at the still foggy valley below. That valley had swallowed up his three days of madness and sin.
After a moment, Cui Junji turned around, his face calm and composed, as if everything that happened in the valley was really just an insignificant accident.
