Tan Zhengchu sat beside the bed, his face full of anxiety and worry.
He looked at the scary number on the thermometer - 40.2 degrees, and his heart felt like it was being gripped by a big hand.
The family doctor had come and left some medicine, but Su Yingxue's high fever still did not subside.
Tan Zhengchu frowned, took the antipyretic medicine and walked to the bedside, and whispered to Su Yingxue: "Dear, take the medicine again, maybe you will feel better after taking it."
Su Yingxue opened her eyes dazedly and responded weakly: "Well... I feel so uncomfortable."
Tan Zhengchu fed the medicine to her mouth and helped her swallow it.
Then he sat on the bedside and muttered to himself: "Observe for another two hours. If the fever doesn't go down, we must go to the hospital."
Su Yingxue felt as if her eyelids weighed a thousand pounds and she was extremely sleepy.
She said weakly to Tan Zhengchu: "I'm really sleepy and want to sleep. Don't send me to the hospital. I hate the smell of the hospital."
Tan Zhengchu looked at her distressedly, gently tucked the quilt for her, and said softly: "Okay, you go to sleep first, I'll be here with you, call me if you feel uncomfortable."
After saying that, he turned on the computer beside the bed and started working.
However, his eyes always looked at Su Yingxue unconsciously, his eyes full of concern.
In the morning, the seven children came to greet Su Yingxue, and then went to school hand in hand.
The early morning sun shines on the road where the school bus is traveling.
In the grass by the roadside, a furry kitten was happily chasing a butterfly.
Its small figure jumped and shuttled in the grass, completely unaware of the approaching danger.
The school bus was running smoothly along the designated route.
The driver was concentrating on driving while chatting and laughing with the children.
Suddenly, the kitten jumped out from the grass.
Its light body rushed straight towards the wheels of the school bus.
The driver was horrified and subconsciously slammed on the brakes. "Screech--" the sharp sound of brakes broke the quiet air.
The tires rubbed against the ground violently, raising a pungent smell of rubber.
The children in the car screamed in fear at this sudden change.
Some covered their eyes, some leaned forward, and the car was in chaos.
Qibao was sitting by the window and witnessed the kitten being run over by the wheels.
Her little face turned pale instantly and she cried out, "Kitten! The kitten was crushed!"
Her big eyes were filled with tears, and she cried and shouted, "I want to go down and see the kitten."
Erbao and Liubao looked at each other.
Liu Bao immediately said, "Let's go with Qi Bao. We can't leave her alone. What if she's in danger?"
The other children gathered together to discuss and decided to act separately.
Dabao said, "Then we'll go to school first. Be careful and call us if anything happens."
Erbao and Liubao followed Qibao out of the car and ran to the kitten.
The kitten lay on the ground, making weak sounds and its body trembling slightly.
Its soft fur was stained with dust and blood, and its once lively eyes were now filled with fear and pain.
Qibao cried even harder: "It's injured. What should I do? It's so pitiful."
Liu Bao squatted down and carefully picked up the kitten, his eyes full of pity: "Let's take it to the hospital."
After saying that, he took Qibao's hand and walked towards the car.
Erbao followed behind and said to the driver after getting in the car: "Uncle, let's go to the pet hospital. The kitten is seriously injured. We need to hurry."
The driver nodded and quickly started the car.
The car quickly arrived at the pet hospital, and the children ran in hastily, shouting, "Doctor! Doctor! Come and save the kitten!"
At this time, a man in a white coat came over. It turned out to be Zhao Dakuang.
He said gently, "Don't worry, give me the kitten and I'll take a look."
Liu Bao was a little hesitant. He stared into Zhao Da Kuang's eyes for a while before handing the kitten to him.
Zhao Dakuang took the kitten, and during the treatment, he inadvertently looked up at the children.
When he saw this, he was shocked.
He discovered that Erbao and Liubao's eyebrows and eyes were somewhat similar to Tan Zhengchu's.
Moreover, the two children looked at him with defensive eyes, like little hedgehogs.
He looked at Qibao again, and this sight made him even more stunned.
Qibao's delicate little face, especially his eyes, looked exactly like Su Yingxue's, as if they were carved from the same mold. The innocence and agility in his eyes were exactly the same.
Liu Bao noticed that there was something wrong with Zhao Da Kuang's eyes.
He felt that Zhao Da Kuang's gaze was like cold tentacles, moving over him and his friends with a probing and unusual meaning.
There seemed to be countless secrets hidden in those eyes, which made Liubao feel a chill on his back unconsciously.
He frowned, his alertness instantly raised.
He took a step forward, protecting Qibao behind him, and leaned forward slightly, like a small wall, separating Zhao Dakuang and Qibao.
He stared coldly at Zhao Da Kuang, his eyes as sharp as a wolf cub, and said in a serious tone: "You have to treat the kitten well, otherwise we will not let you go."
Erbao took out his wallet from his pocket, opened it and looked at it, then said to Zhao Dakuang, "Uncle, how much does it cost to treat the kitten? We will pay for it."
Zhao Dakuang was shocked and at a loss at first, but he quickly regained his composure.
He rolled his eyes and said with a smile, "Well, the cost of treatment plus medicine will be about a thousand dollars. This kitten is seriously injured."
