Tan Zhengchu was slightly stunned. This was the first time he heard Li Yuzhu talk about his father.
In the past, her father was like a scar in Li Yuzhu’s heart, and she never dared to touch it easily.
Li Yuzhu was immersed in the memories of the past, and Tan Zhengchu listened quietly. He understood the pain Li Yuzhu had suffered because of her relationship. Now, he had already forgiven his mother, and felt more distressed for her.
Tan Zhengchu hesitated for a moment and asked, "Mom, if you find your aunt tomorrow, can you face her calmly?"
He was very worried. Although he didn't know what had happened between them, he could infer that there must be a conflict between them because he had never known that Li Yuzhu had a sister.
Li Yuzhu tightened her shawl, a hint of sadness on her face, but her tone was firm: "Zhengchu, I will forget the past. People always have to move forward and cannot live in the shadow of the past forever."
She paused, then continued, "I also regret that I have treated you badly in the past. If I could go back in time, I would definitely be a good mother."
After hearing this, Tan Zhengchu showed a relieved smile on his face. He patted Li Yuzhu's shoulder gently and said, "Mom, I'm very happy that you can get better. Yingxue and I will accompany you in the future, and we will live the rest of our lives together. You have to know that you still have us by your side."
Li Yuzhu listened, slowly retracted his gaze, looked at Tan Zhengchu, and said: "I understand what you mean, Zhengchu. You have been sitting in the car for a whole day, you must be tired, go and rest."
…
The night is as dark as ink, and the stars are twinkling.
Xiao Hei carried two bulging backpacks and walked through the long corridor. His footsteps were particularly clear in the silent night. He stopped in front of the room at the end of the second floor and knocked on the door.
"Come in." Liu Bao's clear voice came from inside.
Xiao Hei pushed open the door and saw two little guys sitting on the windowsill, looking up at the starry sky.
Hearing the door open, they turned their heads at the same time.
"Your bags." Xiao Hei put the bag on the ground with a cold tone.
Liubao and Dabao looked at each other, with a hint of surprise in their eyes.
"Grandpa is pretty quick." Dabao raised his eyebrows, with a hint of teasing in his tone.
Xiao Hei frowned and muttered to himself: Why has the Second Miss become so kind recently? She would never let them go so easily before.
"Everything in the bag is intact." Xiao Hei said coldly, his eyes sweeping across their faces, trying to see something.
Liubao jumped down from the windowsill, walked to the bag and kicked it casually.
"As long as nothing is missing, I'm too lazy to check." She said in a nonchalant tone, as if she didn't care what was in the bag.
Xiao Hei was choked by her attitude and his face suddenly darkened.
Seeing this, Dabao curled up his lips into an evil smile.
"Xiao Hei, do you have anything else to say?" He deliberately dragged out his tone, "If you don't have anything else, please close the door when you go out, and remember to knock."
Xiao Hei's face turned red instantly and his fists clenched tightly.
"You--" He gritted his teeth but didn't dare to attack.
The second young lady, Li Yumei, has been particularly tolerant of the two little devils recently, and he dared not go against her wishes.
"Hmph!" Xiao Hei snorted heavily, turned around and slammed the door.
"Bang!" The door slammed loudly.
Dabao jumped off the windowsill, walked to the door, and locked it skillfully.
"This guy is getting more and more irritable." He shrugged with a hint of disdain in his tone.
Liu Bao ignored his words and walked straight to her bag, unzipped it, and took out a black watch.
She put the watch on her wrist, and the dial immediately lit up, displaying a string of complex data.
"The positioning watch is activated." She whispered with a hint of satisfaction in her tone.
Dabao came over and took a curious look.
"This thing is amazing, you're the only one who can use it, right?"
Liu Bao nodded.
"Well, it will only work if my body temperature and skin texture match."
He raised his wrist and the time displayed on the dial was clearly visible. At the same time, the location information had been sent to Tan Zhengchu silently.
Dabao walked to the door, put his ear against it, and listened carefully to the noise outside.
"That guy Xiao Hei, isn't he eavesdropping outside?" he asked in a low voice.
Liu Bao shook his head.
"He's not that smart."
Outside the door, Xiao Hei did not go far.
He stood in the shadow of the corridor, with his ear pressed against the crack of the door, trying to hear the conversation inside.
However, the room was silent, without any sound.
"Strange, what are these two little brats doing?" Xiao Hei frowned, feeling a little uneasy.
He waited for a while, but still found nothing.
"Forget it, maybe I'm overthinking it." He said to himself, turned and left.
The footsteps gradually faded away, and the corridor returned to silence.
In the room, Dabao breathed a sigh of relief and stepped back from the door.
"He's gone."
Liu Bao nodded, his eyes still fixed on his watch.
"Next, we have to be careful." She whispered, "Grandpa won't let us go so easily."
Dabao smiled, with a sly glint in his eyes.
"Don't worry, no one can bully you with me here."
Liu Bao glanced at him, with the corners of his mouth slightly raised.
"I hope so."
…
It was dark at night and only a dim bedside lamp was on in the room.
Tan Zhengchu walked out of the bathroom with warm steam still on his body.
He picked up a towel and wiped his wet hair, his eyes inadvertently sweeping over Su Yingxue lying on the bed.
She lay on her side, her long hair scattered on the pillow, her brows slightly furrowed, and she seemed to be sleeping uneasy. There was a trace of worry on her little face, as if she was also worried about something in her dream.
Tan Zhengchu's eyes softened a little and he sighed softly.
Suddenly, the ringing of a cell phone broke the silence in the room.
Tan Zhengchu frowned and quickly walked to the table and picked up his phone. He glanced at the screen and saw that it was a call from the third brother.
"Hello?" He answered the phone in a low voice, with a hint of dissatisfaction in his tone, "It's so late, what's the matter?"
The third brother on the other end of the phone obviously heard his displeasure and quickly explained: "Boss, I'm sorry to disturb your rest, but there is important news."
Tan Zhengchu's eyes darkened and he subconsciously glanced at Su Yingxue on the bed.
Her brows furrowed even more tightly, and she turned over as if she was disturbed by the ringing of the phone.
Tan Zhengchu's heart tightened slightly, and his tone became even lower: "Speak."
"Boss, the location information of Young Master Dabao and Young Master Liubao has just been sent over." There was a hint of excitement in the third brother's voice.
Tan Zhengchu paused as he was wiping his hair.
His pupils shrank slightly and a bright light flashed in his eyes, like a spark suddenly ignited in the darkness.
"Are you sure?" His voice remained calm, but the hand holding the phone tightened unconsciously.
"Sure, the signal is clear, I have confirmed it." The third brother's tone was very firm.
