Chapter 1

Chapter 1

"Haicheng Express: Ms. Zhuang Yazhi, the new heir of the Zhuang Group, will hold her inauguration ceremony today. On the day of her inauguration, the stock price of the Zhuang Group soared, and Ms. Zhuang Yazhi entered the top 20 of the world's richest people."

The press conference was packed with media reporters, the atmosphere was noisy and bustling, and cameras were constantly snapping away, aimed at the door and holding their breath, just to capture the first moment it opened, as breaking news is priceless.

Behind the gate, shadowy figures were shrouded in dappled light.

As the light dimmed, a high, straight nose began to appear, and the brow bone was sculpted as if by magic. Beneath the thick eyebrows, a pair of phoenix eyes shone with a subtle glint, and the light smoky, cool eyes had upturned corners, exuding an air of pride and integrity.

Her breathing was shallow, her expression indifferent, and her red lips parted slightly, slowly opening the door.

Flashbulbs bombarded him like lightning, but Zhuang Yazhi remained aloof and unmoved. Dozens of bodyguards cleared a path for him, and he strode forward with his head held high and chest out. Dressed in a sharp black suit and overcoat, he walked with an air of unyielding pride, as resilient as a chrysanthemum in the cold frost, his aura icy.

A quick glance was enough to freeze the cameraman holding the camera; he didn't dare look directly at the camera and quickly moved the focus lens away.

Assistant Li Si adjusted the microphone and was about to speak when a loud, booming electromagnetic sound rang out in the room.

"A woman with a heart of stone, she actually drove her own mother to death in order to seize shares. She is utterly morally depraved."

"I heard that her mother died mysteriously the night she transferred the shares. Miss Zhuang blocked the news to prevent it from leaking out. What? Is she afraid that her evil deeds will be exposed, she will be condemned, and she will lose her inheritance rights?"

"You are not worthy of your position. You are not qualified to be the heir to the family business. Get out of here."

"She's your own mother! How could you do this!"

Shouts and curses rose and fell incessantly, the shouts from the crowd relayed one after another, and in just a short while the inner area was completely in chaos, with some even attempting to break through the security wall and launch a group attack on Zhuang Yazhi.

People of unknown origin surrounded them from behind, and the number of cameras aimed at the center of the camera increased exponentially.

"Miss Zhuang, is what they're saying true?"

"No wonder I didn't see your mother at such an important inauguration ceremony, it turns out..."

Some wanted to know if this was true, while others wanted to make a big fuss, creating a strange atmosphere at the press conference.

At the center of the storm, Zhuang Yazhi lowered her phoenix eyes, her gaze sweeping over everyone with an indifferent and arrogant air, exuding a strong sense of oppression. She remained calm and composed in the face of the vicious attacks from the crowd.

The person behind it was determined to escalate the situation, and the people planted among them received a signal to continue causing trouble in a new round.

"This is the death certificate issued by Haicheng People's Hospital, which clearly states that Ms. Su Sinan passed away at 19:23 on May 25th."

"This is Ms. Su Sinan's medical examination report from two weeks ago. All the data indicators showed that she was in good health. So why did she suddenly die? I beg you, Miss, to give me an explanation."

The person being reprimanded was in tears, their voices filled with sorrow.

The press conference was filled with prominent figures from Haicheng, and many of those who had contact with the manipulators recognized him at a glance.

"Isn't he Zhuang's driver, Chen Wendong? This..." The man glanced at Zhuang Yazhi, his face grim, and hesitated to speak.

The death certificate and medical examination report were simultaneously projected onto a large screen, the alternating red and black colors extremely jarring.

Zhuang Yazhi stared intently at the death certificate, her eyes bloodshot with a mixture of grief, indignation, and humiliation, unable to swallow the resentment in her heart.

"You accuse me of murder, where's the evidence?"

"Then why don't you call the police and have them arrest me?"

The rebuttal, though light, was powerful and decisive, abruptly ending the argument and even dimming the camera flashes.

All eyes turned to Chen Wendong, whose face was ashen, his hands clasped tightly to his chest, and his gaze shifting furtively. After quickly scanning the room, he suddenly deflated, standing there dumbfounded, lost and bewildered, with thousands of eyes fixed on him, waiting for an explanation.

Chen Wendong was timid and hesitant, which made him look particularly frustrated because of his honest appearance.

"I..."

Before he could speak again, seven or eight burly bodyguards in black appeared from the gap and dragged him away.

Almost without a pause, the previously crowded venue was cleared by dozens of bodyguards, creating a wide avenue that could accommodate five people.

The reporters who were shoved aside dared not speak out in anger, after all, those bodyguards were all over 1.8 meters tall and looked fierce.

He is savage and domineering; such a style of doing things is unique in the entire city of Haicheng.

The entire audience held their breath, while Zhuang Yazhi on the center stage took a deep breath, looking reserved and vigilant.

The man arrived.

The first footstep sounded, and the entire hall fell silent.

A black satin coat fluttered in the breeze, and gleaming leather shoes drew everyone's attention.

The man's sharp, heroic eyebrows pointed straight ahead, his arrogant gaze sharper than a cold blade. He walked with a powerful, sweeping presence, his oppressive aura like a raging torrent. His dark pupils shone brightly, his focused and fierce gaze as sharp as a wolf or leopard.

"It's Shen Yiheng,"

The living Yama, feared throughout Haicheng.

With a clear goal in mind, he walked straight in the direction where Zhuang Yazhi was.

The people in the arena didn't dare to breathe. The distance between the two was getting closer and closer, 1 meter, 10 steps, 5 steps... They were about to face each other.

"Tell me what happened."

His cold, emotionless words were like the merciless interrogation of the King of Hell.

Chen Wendong, who had just been pushed down, was beaten and then pulled up again. His face was bruised and swollen, and he was spitting blood and making incoherent noises. When he saw Shen Yiheng, his eyes suddenly widened, and the next second he told all his grievances.

He had previously encountered Shen Yiheng and Su Sinan interacting, and the two seemed to have a good relationship, chatting and laughing. Now he decided to get on Shen Yiheng's good side to deal with Zhuang Yazhi.

“It was her,” Chen Wendong said, his hand trembling as he pointed angrily at Zhuang Yazhi. “My God, the young lady killed the madam! Mr. Chen, you must do justice for our madam!”

The Zhuang family controls half of Haicheng, and apart from Shen Yiheng, they can't find another person who can restrain Zhuang Yazhi.

Shen Yiheng raised an eyebrow, a hint of surprise showing on his cold face. He once again stared intently at the person in front of him, trying to uncover more unknown emotions about Zhuang Yazhi through that unruly demeanor.

Unfortunately, she remained as meticulous and aloof as ever, showing no fear even when it came to a direct confrontation.

"Then tell me, what should we do?" Shen Yiheng handed the decision back to Chen Wendong.

Chen Wending got excited and quickly got up, feeling smug that he had found someone to rely on.

"Take her to the police station immediately and send people to the Su family to investigate. We must make her confess to the murder, otherwise it would be an outrage against heaven and earth for her to kill her own mother."

Shen Yiheng readily agreed: "Okay."

Upon receiving the order, the bodyguards immediately stepped forward to arrest the person, using a forceful and aggressive group attack to suppress them.

"That's great, that's great!" Although he had just been beaten up for no reason, Chen Wendong looked at the group of bodyguards as if he had seen a savior.

Those present quickly retreated. Shen Yiheng was known for his ruthless ways, and they were just there to watch the excitement and see if they could get something for themselves. They couldn't bear to see such a beautiful woman being violently attacked.

Faced with the oppressive force of violence, Zhuang Yazhi remained unmoved, standing there with unwavering pride.

A strong gust of wind blew in my face, and a fist the size of a clay pot came crashing down on me.

"Ugh..." The powerful impact was strong enough to shatter his skull, and Chen Wendong collapsed to the ground, unable to get up.

Once he was dizzy, he became much quieter, which made things easier. The burly bodyguard dragged Chen Wendong away from the venue like he was picking up trash, the bloodstains blending with the red carpet and vying for attention under the bright lights.

"The inauguration ceremony continues. Chairman, please take your seat."

Everyone was dumbfounded, unable to believe their eyes. Weren't they supposed to use violence to force Zhuang Yazhi to submit?

What surprised everyone even more was that Shen Yiheng actually changed his humble attitude and served Zhuang Yazhi a seat, and even served her tea and water!

The atmosphere at the scene was extremely eerie, but Zhuang Yazhi remained unfazed, ignoring everyone, including Shen Yiheng.

The inauguration ceremony proceeded as usual until she rightfully became the new heir to the Zhuang Group.

Many in the audience disagreed, but Zhuang Yazhi coldly ignored them, showing no regard for them whatsoever.

But after the ceremony, some people were unhappy.

"You just left?"

After the ceremony, Zhuang Yazhi was about to leave under the escort of bodyguards when Shen Yiheng called out to stop her seemingly casually from behind.

"Since I covered for you today, aren't you going to give me a share of the pay, sir...?"

He deliberately dragged out the last word, as if he wanted to say something but stopped himself, his cold, ambiguous face raising an eyebrow in a provocative gesture.

Shen Yiheng was positioned only two steps away from the microphone, and when he spoke, the entire venue erupted in cheers.

"My God, what does Shen Yiheng call Zhuang Yazhi? Old man?"

"Is she the boss? No wonder Shen Yiheng helped her; it turns out he's in cahoots with her."

"No, judging from his lip movements, I think he's going to call me 'wife'."

"Wife!"

Zhuang Yazhi paused in place for a few seconds in her slender high heels, then suddenly turned around and gave Shen Yiheng a cold glance, meeting his eyes directly.

The way someone else called her "wife" annoyed her.

Inside the group's conference room, the two sat facing each other in the main seats.

Shen Yiheng leaned back, still maintaining the composed demeanor of a superior. His long, well-defined fingers rhythmically tapped the table, indicating that he was in a good mood.

What he wanted was actually very simple: "To make our relationship public."

“Impossible,” Zhuang Yazhi replied outright; she would never agree.

The tapping stopped abruptly, and Shen Yiheng paused for a moment, then he knew.

Zhuang Yazhi got up and left, not even glancing at him directly, as if he were nothing. The door opened, and the cold figure stepped out without hesitation.

Sitting at the head of the table, Shen Yiheng pulled his long leg to straighten his posture, leaned halfway against the table, and his sharp and angry aura filled the large, empty conference room with his breath.

"Only I, Shen Yiheng, can protect you. Once you leave my safe zone, there's no guarantee that something unexpected might happen to you, Miss Zhuang."

At first, Zhuang Yazhi didn't care, but Shen Yiheng's words piqued her interest: "Threatening me?"

She was excited about this, and strode away with her long legs, her dress fluttering, making her look even more dashing.

Shen Yiheng stood up angrily and slammed his hand on the table, his gaze fixed on the carefree figure that was about to disappear into the corner.

Stubborn as she is, she refuses to back down; mean as she is, she habitually uses things and then discards them.

Shen Yiheng awkwardly turned around, his frustration and depression burning like a raging fire in his heart.

This person has always been troublesome and difficult to deal with.

As night fell and the city lights shone brightly, Zhuang Yazhi accelerated rapidly along the bustling city highway.

The wind whistled past my ears; my eyes were clear, but my heart was restless.

"Beep beep," several horns blared rapidly from the adjacent lane.

Zhuang Yazhi glanced at the rearview mirror and continued to accelerate forward. The modified supercar engine roared twice as loudly, and it accelerated several times in just a few seconds.

But the cars behind were no less formidable; after creating some distance, they quickly caught up again, even attempting to cut in front of each other.

Zhuang Yazhi ignored it and stepped on the gas again, speeding forward.

As the number of lanes decreased, many vehicles in other lanes changed lanes, but that scoundrel relentlessly chased after Zhuang Yazhi's car.

As the traffic ahead increased, Zhuang Yazhi had no choice but to slow down. However, the car behind her did not change speed. The slight scraping of the rear of her car caused a strong push-back sensation, which made Zhuang Yazhi briefly lose control of her center of gravity.

She adjusted her driving almost at top speed, seizing the opportunity to switch to another lane to briefly get away from the car.

"Shen Yiheng, you son of a bitch!"

He leaves and then immediately retaliates; he's a real devil.

Before things had even calmed down for a few seconds, the car in front braked suddenly again. Startled, Zhuang Yazhi quickly turned the steering wheel and swerved into another lane. To ensure her safety, Zhuang Yazhi could only aim for the nearest exit from the highway.

In his haste, he ignored the endless honking behind him, and just as he was about to exit the highway, the car was violently struck, sending him and his occupants flying.

The immense impact caused Zhuang Yazhi to fall unconscious instantly. As her vision blurred, she saw the severely deformed front of the giant truck behind her.

The car was so red, it dyed everything and everyone in sight red.

Zhuang Ya's heart was torn apart with excruciating pain; every breath she took was stained with blood.

"Well, BIBUBIBU DUDUDUDUDUDU"

"A serious car accident occurred on the Shenhai Expressway, which triggered several rear-end collisions. We request emergency assistance from 120 and relevant departments."

The accident scene was heavily cordoned off. Under the cover of the sirens of rescue vehicles, a supercar sped by a hundred meters away, its roar echoing through the black sky. It braked suddenly when it was only one meter away from the crashed vehicle. Dust and exhaust fumes were layered and blurred under the lights.

With just a glance, Shen Yiheng quickly locked onto Zhuang Yazhi, who was trapped under the car; the entire vehicle was severely damaged, and plumes of white smoke from the engine oil were spreading out.

The headlights were blinding, making Zhuang Yazhi uncomfortable. Her half-closed eyes were stained with mottled blood.

Someone called her name, and Zhuang Yazhi heard it.

Zhuang Yazhi was not completely unconscious. Her urgent and heart-wrenching cries were even more melodious than police sirens. As I listened, I was surprised to find that the pain in my chest had lessened considerably.

She used almost all her strength to open her blood-stained eyes, her heavy eyelids barely able to open, as she swayed back and forth, searching for the blurry figures moving around the car.

So familiar, so familiar, it's in my eyes and in my mind's world.

"Sinking..."

"Chen... Yiheng"

It was him.

Zhuang Yazhi finally saw the person clearly.

"dog....."

"thing."

I used all my strength just to curse him once.

The last person I saw before I closed my eyes was him; he's like a persistent ghost.
