31. Qixi Festival/Happy Birthday
(Timeline: Mi Xi’s birthday coincides with Chinese Valentine’s Day)
August, the hottest month of the year, is coated with a layer of icing due to a romantic festival and a special day.
Mi Xi’s birthday happens to be Chinese Valentine’s Day.
The GSS group had no scheduled itinerary that day, so Ji Ye had aggressively cleared all his schedule a week in advance. That morning, Mi Xi woke up to a passionate kiss.
"Happy birthday, Xixi." Ji Ye leaned on top of him, his eyes filled with undisguised affection and possessiveness.
Mi Xi had just woken up and was still a little dazed. Her peach blossom eyes were filled with moisture. She subconsciously kissed him back, her voice hoarse from the morning: "Thank you, Brother Ji Ye."
He would only call out this name softly when he was emotional or wanted something, and every time it made Ji Ye extremely happy.
Ji Ye chuckled and kissed him again before letting him get up: "Listen to my arrangements today."
Mi Xi nodded in agreement.
The day was full and sweet. In the morning, they went to a private art exhibition. At noon, they had French food, Mi Xi's favorite. In the afternoon, they were even dragged to be couple's hand models. Although Mi Xi thought it was a bit childish, seeing their clasped hands frozen in plaster still made her feel a secret sweetness.
In the evening, Ji Ye drove him to the suburbs.
"Where are we going?" Mi Xi looked at the deepening dusk and increasingly sparse lights outside the window, feeling a little curious.
"You'll know when you get there." Ji Ye kept it a secret.
The car finally stopped at a spacious viewing platform halfway up the mountain. It seemed to be completely deserted, with only the gentle evening breeze blowing past.
"get off."
Mi Xi followed him out of the car, but the next second, she was so shocked by the scene in front of her that her eyes widened slightly.
The entire viewing platform is decorated with countless star lights and warm yellow string lights, as if the Milky Way has been brought to the human world. In the center of the platform, a huge heart is formed with rose petals, and in the middle of the heart, the words are spelled out with fluorescent sticks:
"Mi Xi, happy birthday & happy Qixi Festival"
Next to the words, there was a smaller arrow spelled out with pink roses, pointing to something covered with velvet next to it.
"This is..." Mi Xi's heart was beating a little fast.
Ji Ye took his hand, walked to the thing, and suddenly opened the velvet cloth -
It was a pure white grand piano.
"I remember you said that the first thing you learned when you were little was actually the piano." Ji Ye looked at him, his eyes incredibly gentle under the bright lights. "Later, in order to dance, you focused on the violin."
Mi Xi stared at the piano blankly, and the softest part of his heart was deeply touched. He really hadn't touched the piano for a long time.
"I'll play a song for you," Ji Ye pulled him to sit on the bench in front of the piano. "I only learned this one, so I can't play it well... Don't laugh."
This rebellious prince, a powerful figure in the business world, seemed a little nervous at this moment. He took a deep breath, and his slender, bony fingers landed on the black and white keys with some awkwardness.
A gentle and soothing prelude flowed out, the classic "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Variations." The melody was simple, even a note or two occasionally a little sluggish, but Ji Ye played it with utmost seriousness, his profile appearing focused and handsome under the light.
Mi Xi listened quietly, his eyes warming slightly at his clumsy yet sincere expression. He knew better than anyone that getting someone like Ji Ye to calm down and learn a piece of music was much harder than getting him to close a contract worth hundreds of millions.
When the song ended, Ji Ye looked at him nervously.
Mi Xi said nothing, but leaned over and kissed him on the lips. The kiss was gentle and long, full of emotion and love.
The kiss ended with their foreheads touching, their breaths mingling.
"Ji Ye," Mi Xi said softly, "I like it very much." I like this gift, and I like the thought you put into it for me even more.
Ji Ye breathed a sigh of relief, his lips curled up into a smile that was both frivolous and satisfying. Like a magic trick, he pulled out a small, exquisite velvet box from his pocket and opened it.
Inside was not a ring, but an exquisitely designed necklace. The pendant was a perfectly cut deep blue gemstone, surrounded by tiny diamonds. Under the light, it looked like stars plucked from the night sky.
"This is 'Star,'" Ji Ye took out the necklace and carefully put it on him. The cool gemstone pressed against Mi Xi's delicate collarbone, complementing the "Venom in Her Veins" tattoo. "You are like my star, dazzling, unique, and guiding my direction."
He looked into Mi Xi's eyes and confessed solemnly: "Mi Xi, I love you. Not because you are beautiful, nor because of how dazzling your performance is. But because you are you. From now on, I want to spend every birthday and every Chinese Valentine's Day with you."
Mi Xi lowered her head, her fingertips gently caressing the gemstone called "Star," feeling the lingering warmth of Ji Ye's body. He raised his eyes, a bright and genuine smile spreading across his peach blossom eyes, brighter than the myriad lights around him.
"I love you too, Jiye."
He took the initiative to kiss him again.
Behind him is the dazzling starry sky, and in front of him is the person he deeply loves.
This Chinese Valentine's Day, this star has found its eternal home.
The deep blue "Star" necklace nestled against her collarbone, still bearing the warmth of Ji Ye's fingertips. Mi Xi had just recovered from that affectionate and solemn confession, her cheeks still flushed with a charming blush, when her phone began to vibrate at an inopportune moment, shattering the charming atmosphere.
He looked at Ji Ye with a reproachful look, but Ji Ye smiled smugly and motioned him to look.
Mi Xi pulled out her phone and discovered the news had exploded. The first to pop up was their small group, [Zhanjian Xing (One is Indispensable)], which didn't have any of the "family leaders" present.
[Wuyou: Happy birthday @Mixixixi! Happy Qixi Festival! Spending the holiday with a certain prince is sweet, right? (fox smirk.jpg)]
Followed by a big red envelope.
Ruan Xu: Happy birthday, idol! Happy Qixi Festival! May you be forever happy! (starry eyes.jpg)
It’s also a huge red envelope.
[Chu Qingling: Mi Xi, happy birthday, and good health on Qixi Festival. ]
The words were concise and to the point, but the amount of the red envelope that followed was not ambiguous at all.
There were even French blessings from Cici who was far away in South Korea and a cute photo of Ranran holding a small cake with cream all over her face.
Mi Xi watched the blessings and red envelopes scrolling across the screen, his heart warming. Just as he was about to reply, another group chat became active: the "Family Communication Group" that included Ji Ye, Pei Yu, and Xie Sui.
Pei Yu: Happy birthday, Mi Xi. Yoyo was clamoring to video call you, but I held her back.
[Xie Sui: Happy birthday. Qing Ling asked me to wish you again on his behalf.]
Ji Ye: (Hugging Mi Xi and taking a selfie, with a sea of bright lights in the background) Mine. Thank you for your blessing.
This attracted the other two people to swipe the screen in tacit understanding:
[Pei Yu:...]
【Xie Sui: ……】
Mi Xi couldn't help laughing at Ji Ye's childish show-off. She replied briskly in the [Sword Fighting] group:
Mi Xi: Thank you everyone! I've received the red envelopes! (fox holding a rose.jpg) Very sweet. I'll tell you more at our next gathering~)
Just after he replied to the message, a video request popped up. It was from his mother.
Mi Xi quickly picked up the phone, and his mother's gentle and smiling face appeared on the screen: "Xixi, happy birthday! Happy Chinese Valentine's Day to you too!" In the background, he could also see his father's slightly serious but gentle face.
"Thank you, Mom, thank you, Dad." Mi Xi responded with a smile and turned the camera to Ji Ye beside her, "Ji Ye and I are together."
Ji Ye immediately put aside his ruffian attitude and behaved politely: "Hello, uncle and aunt, we are celebrating Xixi's birthday outside."
Mi Xi's mother looked at their shoulders pressed together and the unconcealed happiness on her son's face, and nodded with satisfaction, "Okay, okay, just take care of yourself. Ji Ye, Xixi will be in your care."
"Don't worry." Ji Ye promised solemnly.
After chatting about some family matters for a while, the call ended. Then, Ji Ye's phone rang. It was his mother, Ms. Xu Luting.
"mom."
"Aye, did you have fun with Xixi? Did you like the gift?" Ms. Xu Luting's voice was tinged with laughter. "Please say happy birthday and happy Qixi Festival to Xixi for me! When it's convenient, bring him home for dinner. Your dad has been asking me to do that several times."
"I know, Mom. He likes it very much. He will go back in two days." Ji Ye responded while looking at Mi Xi, and Mi Xi nodded slightly to him.
After I hung up the phone, the mountain breeze was cool, but it couldn't blow away the warmth in my heart. The blessings of my family and friends, the approval of my parents, were like small trickles flowing into the ocean called happiness.
"It seems that everyone has tied us together." Ji Ye embraced Mi Xi again, rubbing his chin against his soft head, his tone satisfied.
"Is it not good?" Mi Xi looked up at him, the stars and lights reflected in her eyes.
"I couldn't ask for more." Ji Ye lowered his head and kissed his forehead, "My star."
Under the night sky, everything is silent, only love surges.
The double joy of birthday and Chinese Valentine's Day becomes more complete and profound because of each other's company and sincere blessings from all sides.
Their story continues to be written warmly in love and being loved.
