52. She's Not Special

52. She's Not Special

"Does Xu Wenqiang play basketball?" Xiao Cheng asked again, covering his forehead.

"I don't want to fight anymore." Xu Wenqiang also said, covering her forehead.

"Why not?" Xiao Cheng released his hand from covering his forehead, glanced at Lin Tong who had already sat up next to him, and smiled politely at her, "Do you want to practice sit-ups?"

Lin Tong was being watched by Xiao Cheng, so he could only tell the truth, "We have finished practicing."

"What's the reason?" Xiao Cheng looked at Xu Wenqiang again.

Xu Wenqiang was still rubbing her forehead. The collision had been quite severe, and she was still a little confused. Especially when she saw Xiao Cheng's eyes, she always felt that they were two black diamonds.

"I just don't want to fight anymore, there's no reason," said Xu Wenqiang.

"Xu Wenqiang, I don't want to make things difficult for you, but if I go back like this, I may not be able to explain." Xiao Cheng said, stepping aside, "You can see for yourself."

Xu Wenqiang stretched her neck to look and saw several girls not far away looking over here. When they saw Xu Wenqiang looking over, they all panicked and started spinning around.

"What's going on?" Xu Wenqiang looked at Xiao Cheng. She had almost gotten used to the two black diamonds.

"They want to watch you play basketball. They don't know you very well, so they asked me to ask you for help," said Xiao Cheng.

Xu Wenqiang glanced at the girls again and said bluntly, "Not only are we unfamiliar with each other, I haven't even spoken to them. They want to watch people play basketball, but there are so many people on the basketball court. Don't count on me."

Lin Tong whispered, "Xu Wenqiang, they are all in the same class as me. Keep your voice down and don't offend anyone."

Xu Wenqiang didn't care. "It's okay. I've already offended everyone."

Lin Tong thought about it and agreed, so he said nothing more.

Xiao Cheng advised kindly: "Xu Wenqiang, we are all classmates in the same classroom, so we should leave some room for maneuver."

"Room?" Xu Wenqiang kicked a small stone away from her feet. "Did they leave me any room?"

She was narrow-minded, but she had not forgotten what they had said about her a few days ago.

"Then can you please just give me some face and play this match?" Xiao Cheng glanced at Xu Wenqiang and cleared his throat. "I don't know how they figured that out, but they all said we have a good relationship and that you would definitely give me some face."

"Our relationship..." Xu Wenqiang was stuck.

Her relationship with Xiao Cheng is a bit complicated.

At school, she sat in the third row, he in the last, and sometimes they wouldn't even say a word to each other all day, so their relationship wasn't exactly close. But once they left the school gates, they hugged and embraced each other. To say they didn't have a good relationship was sheer lies.

Seeing Xu Wenqiang worrying about their relationship, Xiao Cheng couldn't help but feel itchy. But in front of Lin Tong, he couldn't argue with her about it. After all, whether their relationship was good or not was not up to her alone.

But she shouldn't have hesitated about playing ball.

The gossip about Xu Wenqiang in class has decreased significantly lately, and some people have even begun to defend her. This is clearly due to those three-pointers she hit that day. That game was originally a performance; the purpose wasn't to win people over, but to win over the audience. It seems the performance was quite successful, and besides Gao Zhe, it also unexpectedly attracted a large audience. So it would be a shame not to continue.

"Xu Wenqiang, if you really don't want to fight, forget it." Xiao Cheng said, "I'll go over and tell them that our relationship isn't that good, and I don't have much face..."

Xu Wenqiang looked up when she heard this, "Xiao Cheng, where are you?"

Xiao Cheng nodded in agreement: "Well, is it useful?"

Xu Wenqiang kicked another small stone away from her feet and said, "Let's go play ball."

Xiao Cheng smiled, turned around and nodded to the girl behind him, which caused a burst of cheers.

Lin Tong also walked over to Xu Wenqiang and said excitedly, "Xu Wenqiang, I can finally watch you play basketball again."

But Xu Wenqiang couldn't be happy.

She had originally resolved to quit playing basketball for a while, just to shake off the string of names that carried a dreamy aura. But before her resolve was even hot, she'd already taken to the court for someone else's sake...

"Xu Wenqiang!" Gao Zhe shouted and threw the ball over.

"How to play?" Xu Wenqiang found that in addition to a few familiar boys in their class, there were also a few faces that she had never seen before on the court.

"They're in their second year of high school and take physical education with us," Gao Zhe said. Qingshi No. 1 Middle School has more than a dozen classes in each grade, so it's common for students from different grades and classes to take physical education together.

"There's less than half an hour left. There are five of us in the class and five of them. Let's just fight casually." Xiao Cheng said.

"Xiao Cheng, I don't mean to just fight." A sophomore walked over, past Xiao Cheng and Gao Zhe, and stood in front of Xu Wenqiang. "You are the girl with short hair that day."

Xu Wenqiang looked at the man in front of her, who was so meticulous about even his hair, with a bewildered look on her face: "Have we met before?"

"You don't remember?" The other party was a little disappointed. "I recognized you at first sight."

"Sorry, I have a bad memory." Xu Wenqiang had no idea and turned to leave.

"Wait a moment." Fang Zishuo called Xu Wenqiang and looked at Xiao Cheng and Gao Zhe, "You two can help introduce them."

"Xiao Cheng, please say hello to Brother Shuo. I'm going to do some warm-up exercises." Gao Zhe was afraid of Fang Zishuo's serious look, so he slipped away quickly.

Xiao Cheng walked over to Xu Wenqiang and said, "This is Fang Zishuo, Xing Jiaqi's cousin. This is Xu Wenqiang, my classmate. We met at Xing Jiaqi's birthday party and chatted."

"Oh, I remember now." Xu Wenqiang suddenly realized, "You were wearing a very formal suit that day."

Fang Zishuo straightened his back upon hearing this, "It's appropriate to dress formally for important occasions."

"Brother Shuo has always been decent." Xiao Cheng said on the side.

"Xiao Cheng still understands me." Fang Zishuo patted Xiao Cheng on the shoulder.

Xu Wenqiang had a bad impression of Fang Zishuo and didn't want to talk to him much, so she just casually hit the ball on the ground without saying anything else.

Fang Zishuo stared at Xu Wenqiang, "You are really special. Having short hair is special enough, but I didn't expect you can even play basketball. You are really a special girl."

After Fang Zishuo said "special" several times in a row, Xiao Cheng's expression dimmed.

Xu Wenqiang was disgusted. She stopped the ball in her hand, looked at Fang Zishuo and said, "When you mentioned short hair, I remembered that day you said that girls with long flowing hair were tacky. That was quite a statement."

Her voice was neither too loud nor too soft, and the girls around waiting to watch the game should be able to hear it.

"Really?" Fang Zishuo was a little proud at first, but when he turned around and glanced at the commotion of the girls behind him, his expression changed. "Did you do that on purpose?"

Xu Wenqiang continued to pat the ball nonchalantly. "I think girls look good with any hairstyle. It's quite unique that you insist on distinguishing between elegant and vulgar."

"You're not special at all. You can curse people without using a single dirty word." Fang Zishuo said coldly, and suddenly he moved his body to steal Xu Wenqiang's ball.

Xu Wenqiang's expression changed, and she turned around with the ball and went behind Xiao Cheng.

"It's a sneak attack, quite special." Xu Wenqiang said.

Fang Zishuo didn't expect that he would fail, and his face was full of disbelief.

Xiao Cheng stepped forward, put his arm around Fang Zishuo, and took him aside: "Brother Shuo, don't worry, let's do some warm-up exercises first, and see you on the court later."

Then he turned around and glanced at Xu Wenqiang.

She had short hair and was mixed in with a group of boys. Apart from being short and having fair skin, there was really nothing special about her.

As if she noticed someone was looking at her, Xu Wenqiang raised her head and met Xiao Cheng's gaze.

She thought she had annoyed Fang Zishuo, and Xiao Cheng was angry, so she raised her hand and tapped her forehead a few times, then smiled at him playfully.

Xiao Cheng looked at Xu Wenqiang's heartless smile and came to a corny conclusion.

She's not special, she's unique.
