Chapter 11 Wolf Power: There are no dragons in the East Wasteland Forest
"Langli asked him to live in a collective cave. If he goes there in his current condition, no one will take care of him." Shi Yuan couldn't bear to see him isolated and helpless, so he brought him back.
Lang Yi is the only son of Shi Yuan's good friend. When Lang Yi was ten years old, his good friend was bitten to death by a wild beast during a hunting trip. Not long after, his friend remarried and moved to another tribe, leaving Lang Yi to live alone.
At the age of ten, when other children were still fishing in the river and digging earthworms in the soil, Lang Yi had already joined the hunting team alone. At the age of fifteen, he became a tribal warrior and was assigned a cave of his own.
Although he was in the prime of his life, he followed in his father's footsteps in this hunting trip.
"The hunting team didn't get much today, except for a kid." Tu Yue paused and looked at a small piece of goat intestine hanging on the wall next to Lang Yi: "Lang Li deducted his share and gave him a small piece of goat intestine."
I heard from Shi Yuan that the hunting team was able to catch this sheep today because Lang Yi made a great effort. If he hadn't led the giant beast away, he wouldn't have lost a leg.
"That's ridiculous. I'm going to argue with him."
Tu Yue held her back and said, "Your father has already passed away."
Shiyuan also contributed a lot in this hunt, but Langli didn't even give him a piece of intestine.
In the activity square, Shi Yuan was questioning Lang Li: "If Xiao Yi hadn't led the mutant saw-toothed tiger away, would you have been able to hunt this sheep? You actually wanted to covet the meat of a child."
Lang Li: "He's so badly injured that he might die before he even sees the sun tomorrow. Why waste a piece of meat?"
He had not woken up yet when Shi Yuan came back carrying Lang Yi on his back. Before he reached the entrance of his cave with Lang Yi, who was covered in blood and had one leg missing, Lang Li came with his men and took back his cave.
Shi Yuan had no choice but to carry Lang Yi back to his cave, and did not tell Lang Li that Angge had treated his wounds, so Lang Li did not know that Lang Yi's wounds had almost healed, except for his leg which could not regenerate.
"I can give him a section of goat intestines, as a token of my gratitude for luring the mutant tiger away. I'll let him have a good meal before he dies."
Lang Li kept going too far, and even the priest couldn't stand it any longer: "Lang Li, I usually turn a blind eye to your harsh treatment of the tribesmen, but this time you really went too far. Lang Yi's father died fighting for the tribe, and Lang Yi joined the hunting team at the age of ten. Even though he is disabled now, you can't abuse him like this."
Lang Li: "He is now a disabled orc who has been abandoned by the Dragon God. I have shown him special favor by not driving him out of the tribe."
The priest was so angry that he slammed his cane on the ground and accused with shaking hands: "If I had known you were such a cruel person, I should not have agreed to let you be the chieftain."
"Shut up!" Lang Li said viciously, "I respect you and call you a priest, but do you really think of yourself as a real priest? Have you successfully communicated with the Dragon God once in all these years?"
"You are the most useless person in this tribe. I have been feeding you well because of your old age. If you dare to disobey me again, you will no longer be a priest. You have no real ability at all." Langli said and spat at the priest.
The priest was so angry that he was shaking all over, his hands were trembling and he couldn't utter a word. He has always communicated with the Dragon God according to the method taught by his master, but he has never received a response from the Dragon God.
The White Wolf Tribe used to have no priests, was very poor, and lived a very difficult life. It was not until later that a certain tribe leader accidentally saved the priest's master, and their tribe had a priest, that the days of the White Wolf tribe gradually got better.
The priest knew many prey species and the weaknesses of each species. He also understood a more complete language and could cure people. It was he who told the people in the tribe that there were dragons in the world and that the dragon was the king of all beasts and was a god.
However, before he could learn half of his master's skills, his master kicked him to death.
He gritted his teeth and took over the priest's staff and became the new priest of the tribe.
Although the priests have been praying devoutly to the Dragon God, they have never received any response.
This unsolvable knot weighed on his heart like a huge rock, making him feel extremely heavy.
He knew very well that his abilities were limited and that he was just a dabbler, but he was already in his twilight years. Now, Wolf Power had so ruthlessly exposed his incompetence in public. This was undoubtedly a trampling and insult to his dignity. The priest was so angry that he gasped for breath, his eyes went dark, and he fell backwards.
Seeing this, Shi Yuan hurriedly reached out to support the priest to prevent him from falling and getting injured. Then, Shi Yuan carefully laid the priest flat on the ground.
Then, Shi Yuan turned around and glared at Lang Li, scolding him: "Lang Li, how can you treat the priest so rudely? Don't you know that doing so will anger the Dragon God? The Dragon God will definitely punish you!"
However, Langli paid no attention to Shiyuan's warning. Instead, he sneered and mocked: "Humph, only you extremely stupid guys would blindly believe in the existence of the Dragon God. Don't be naive anymore, there are no dragons in the East Wasteland Forest!" His words were full of disdain and contempt, and he seemed to care nothing about the so-called Dragon God.
This sentence exploded among the tribesmen like a bombshell, causing uproar and dissatisfaction.
Everyone turned their eyes to Lang Li, and their originally friendly looks were now filled with hostility and doubt.
Especially those old people who had personally experienced the era of the previous priest, they witnessed with their own eyes how the priest led the tribe to gradually change.
The previous priest told everyone that all these blessings came from the grace of the great Dragon God. Without the protection of the Dragon God, they would not be where they are today.
Langli couldn't help but be stunned, and instantly realized that his words had just touched the bottom line of faith deep in the hearts of his people.
He hurriedly took measures to try to save the situation, and without hesitation, he pushed all the responsibilities onto the priest: "It must be that he was not pious enough to the Dragon God, which led to the Dragon God never responding to our prayers. If it weren't for him, how could our tribe decline day by day!"
When Shi Yuan heard this, he was so angry that he laughed out loud: "You yourself are incapable of leading your people towards prosperity, but you have the nerve to put all the blame on an old man? Are you worthy of being a real male!" There was obvious anger and disdain in his tone, which made Langli feel ashamed.
Lang Li looked at Shi Yuan, helpless and furious: "If you have the ability, then you can quit the hunting team and go hunting on your own! You only know how to take advantage of us every day. Why should we share the prey we have worked so hard to capture with you?"
When Shi Yuan heard this, he couldn't help but feel a surge of anger in his heart. He recalled that he had tried his best every time he hunted, ignoring the pain from his leg injury, just to catch even one more chicken or bird for the tribe. However, these efforts were despised and belittled by Lang Li.
