Chapter 9 The smell of blood is approaching
"You've embezzled so much meat and yet you still come out to gather it? Are your males finally going to stop supporting you?" As soon as Chu Ange and Tu Yue arrived at the activity square to gather, Black Widow came over with a sarcastic tone.
In fact, she was just jealous, jealous that Tu Yue could marry such a mighty and handsome Shi Yuan... Even though Shi Yuan had a lame leg, he never let her suffer any grievances or hardships.
Not only Black Widow is jealous, many females in the tribe are jealous of Tu Yue.
"That was given to my daughter by Long Chen, not embezzled. A Yuan will never abandon us, so don't talk nonsense." Tu Yue, who has been raised in an ivory tower by Shi Yuan, would never confront others.
The Black Widow curled her lips and said, "I haven't even divided your meat yet, and you still don't allow me to talk about it."
Chu Ange sneered: "First, that was Long Chen's betrothal gift to me. I'm not your daughter, so why should I give it to you? You look pretty handsome. Second, throwing dirty water on my father is throwing dirty water on Long Chen's father-in-law. I love to complain."
Black Widow thought of Long Chen's ferocious look yesterday, and a feeling of fear rose in her heart. So she gritted her teeth, turned around and left quickly without looking back.
Gathering teams are not like hunting teams, which have to travel long distances every time to hunt. The collecting team did not dare to go too far. Although the jungle was beautiful, it was also full of dangers.
Although Chu Ange has been to the jungle many times, every time she can't help but sigh that it is so beautiful here!
The trees and vegetation were as beautiful as emeralds, and the colorful mushrooms were as tall as a person. She could even imagine little rabbits hiding from the rain underneath. It was like walking into a fairy tale forest.
Chu Ange found a plant similar to lettuce, which was twice as big as cabbage.
"It looks a lot like lettuce." Chu Ange pulled a piece of tender leaf and put it in his mouth. It was sweeter than lettuce. "This is edible. Mom, let's pick some to take back."
"Don't eat anything you don't recognize. Take it back and show it to the priest. If the priest says it's edible, we'll come back to pick more." Tu Yue turned her head and saw Chu Ange stuffing vegetable leaves into his mouth. It was too late to stop him.
"I've tasted it, it's edible." Chu Ange had already picked up a few.
While they were pulling lettuce, the collection team had already left them far behind.
Chu Ange hurriedly pulled Tu Yue to catch up. It would be very dangerous if they got separated from the main group in the jungle.
Near noon, the collection team prepared to go back.
They didn't have backpacks, so they collected plants by holding them in their hands. They collected as much as they could, and went back when they couldn't hold any more.
On the way back, Chu Ange saw a plant similar to garlic sprouts.
The garlic leaves had begun to turn yellow, so Chu Ange pulled one out and found that there were indeed garlic buds.
Chu Ange laughed: "This trip is not a loss."
Tu Yue glanced at the large tribe that was getting farther and farther away and urged, "Hurry up, baby."
The return trip was not like the trip here where we had to observe which plants were edible. We headed straight to the tribe without stopping, and we would fall behind if we were not careful.
"Mother, you go back with the main force first. I'll pick some garlic and then catch up with you." Chu Ange knew the way back.
How could Tu Yue leave her and go back alone? She turned around and came back to pick the fruits together with Chu Ange: "Just pick two and go back to ask the priest. Once it's confirmed that they are edible, we'll pick more."
Chu Ange was very sure that this was garlic, and said with certainty: "This is definitely edible. I'll make you a delicious meal when we get home." Put two slices of garlic on the grilled meat and wrap it in lettuce leaves. It was simply delicious.
In the time it took to pull out the garlic, the collection team had already disappeared.
The gathering team collects plants, so they do not need to hand them over to the tribe like the hunting team. The tribe leader then distributes them to the people below, and whoever collects them owns them.
Therefore, the collection team generally does not have to wait for others. If you cannot keep up and fall behind, it is your own problem and no one will wait for you.
Chu Ange shook off the dirt on the garlic heads, tore off a piece of tree bark to tie the garlic into two bundles, got a tree stick and put one bundle on each end to carry it, while Tu Yue held the lettuce.
"Let's go quickly." It was Tu Yue's first time out collecting, so she was inevitably a little timid. Rabbits are naturally timid.
Halfway through the walk, Chu Ange suddenly stopped and reached out to stop Tu Yue.
Tu Yue: "What's wrong?"
"There's a smell of blood." Chu Ange gestured to Tu Yue to squat down with her and hide behind the tree.
Tu Yue trembled slightly, trying her best to control herself from crying out of fright, and slowly hid behind Chu Ange.
The smell of blood was approaching, coming towards them.
Not only was there a smell of blood, but there was also the sound of orcs wailing in pain.
If the orcs encountered a ferocious beast, it would not be safe for them to hide here.
"Mother, you hide here. I'll go out and take a look. If anything goes wrong, you turn into a beast and run away."
Tu Yue grabbed Chu Ange who was about to go out and said, "Mom is going to investigate, you hide well, Mom is in animal form and can run fast." She was obviously so scared that her hair was about to explode, but subconsciously she was still protecting her child.
If anything happened to Tu Yue, Shi Yuan would definitely be ruined. But Tu Yue would definitely not let her go to the front alone to check. Chu Ange thought about it for a while and decided that the two of them should slowly retreat and escape if they could.
If you can't escape, run as fast as you can.
There was a rustling sound behind them, as if something was running fast through the grass. Chu Ange and Tu Yue ran faster and faster.
When the two were exhausted from running, they heard a voice from behind: "Tu Yue?"
Tu Yue and Chu Ange turned around at the same time and saw Shi Yuan standing behind them, looking at them, covered in blood.
Tu Yue was instantly overwhelmed by another kind of fear. He transformed into a beast and ran towards Shi Yuan at a high speed. Chu Ange also hurried over.
"Ayuan, what's wrong with you? Where are you hurt?" The moment Tu Yue approached, she changed back into human form, supported Shiyuan, and tears fell down her face.
Shi Yuan wanted to wipe away her tears, but he couldn't free his hands, so he just said, "I'm fine, it was Lang Yi, he had a leg bitten off by a wild beast, this blood is his too."
Only then did Chu Ange realize that Shi Yuan was carrying a dying man on his back. His left leg had been bitten off and swallowed by the beast from the knee, and there were several scratches on his body.
In the animal world, this kind of injury is almost fatal.
Langli saw that he had lost a leg and was doomed to die. Even if he was lucky enough to survive, it would take him more than half a year to recover and he would not be able to participate in hunting again. So he decided to leave him alone and let him be eaten by wild beasts.
It was Shi Yuan who struggled to snatch him from the mouth of the beast, carried him back to the tribe, and asked the priest to save him.
Chu Ange took a look at Lang Yi's injury and asked Shi Yuan to put him down quickly: "If the bleeding is not stopped, he will die. If he can't hold on and return to the tribe, he will die on the way."
Shi Yuan put him down, but he didn't know how to stop the bleeding, and looked at Chu Ange helplessly.
Chu Ange peeled off a piece of tree bark and tied it to Lang Yi's broken leg: "Dad, please watch him and don't let him fall asleep. I'll go find some herbs to stop the bleeding and will be back soon."
When she was running away just now, she saw a cranesbill, but she was in a hurry to escape and didn't have time to pick it. Unexpectedly, she would use it the next time.
