Chapter 157 Liu Guangtian and Yu Haitang Divorce

When anyone is injured, they always hope that someone will take care of them. But Gu Chunyan's actions chilled Liu Guangqi's heart.

Seeing his mother's indifference towards him, Liu Guangqi's heart slowly grew cold. It's said that Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither was a cold heart.

Liu Guangqi made a decision in his heart: he must amaze everyone and surprise those who looked down on him. Liu Guangqi didn't believe he was so mediocre; he just hadn't found the opportunity yet.

The reason he couldn't learn things quickly was simply because he wasn't good at them. To recover as soon as possible, Liu Guangqi could only grit his teeth and endure it. When he couldn't bear it any longer, he asked Gu Chunyan for help.

Gu Chunyan had no time to care about Liu Guangqi. She simply washed Liu Guangqi's bottom and then started doing other things.

Now all the burdens fall on Gu Chunyan's shoulders, and she can only work hard to earn money, because without money, her family will go hungry. Compared to starving, everything else becomes less important.

Gu Chunyan has now completely lost faith in her family. Looking at her husband and son, Gu Chunyan can't help but think of Liu Guangtian, who lives outside the courtyard house. After all, Liu Guangtian is currently the most successful member of the Liu family.

The thought of Liu Guangtian gave Gu Chunyan a headache. Her daughter-in-law was no pushover either, and their constant commotion was getting out of hand. Gu Chunyan planned to talk to her daughter-in-law when she had time.

Perhaps she had something on her mind, or perhaps the work outside was too arduous, but Gu Chunyan fell asleep before 9:00. Life had to go on the next day, and due to financial difficulties, Gu Chunyan left the courtyard house without even making breakfast.

If they eat too much, they might even start fighting at home because they have nowhere to vent their frustrations. It's time to let them go hungry for a few meals; only then will they realize how difficult life really is. That way, they won't fight.

For the sake of her future life, Gu Chunyan arrived at the neighboring courtyard early in the morning. She went into the kitchen before Liu Guangtian and his wife had even gotten up.

Besides trying to persuade the two of them, Gu Chunyan also wanted to freeload a meal. Given her current situation, she figured she'd take any free meal she could get.

She can't even earn 50 cents a day, but her family needs to spend several dollars a day. Now Gu Chunyan doesn't even have money to buy medicine for the two of them, so she can only come to Liu Guangtian's place to freeload.

"Guangtian, Haitang, it's getting late. You two should get up and eat breakfast. After breakfast, you still have to go to work at the steel mill. Mom specially came over today to make you breakfast."

After speaking, Gu Chunyan knocked on Liu Guangfu's door again. Then she said something similar to what she had just said. For the sake of her future, Gu Chunyan waited for them in the kitchen.

Gu Chunyan knew that she would probably have to rely on her two youngest sons for the rest of her life. Neither Liu Guangqi nor Liu Haizhong were very reliable.

Since they are not very reliable, I must plan for the future. If I can get along well with the Liu brothers, I will at least have something to eat in the future.

Seeing that the three of them had started to get up and wash, Gu Chunyan immediately took out several bowls and served each of them a bowl of porridge. Then she brought out two prepared pickled vegetables to the table.

Liu Guangtian and the other two didn't refuse. After all, it was nice to have someone make breakfast for them. Gu Chunyan saw them starting to sit down at the table and quickly sat down as well.

Since the porridge was freshly cooked and still very hot, and it was still early, Gu Chunyan decided to try and persuade the couple.

"Haitang, it's not that I'm trying to criticize you, but you still need to be mindful of your behavior. Although I don't live in your neighborhood, I've heard about your affairs. Women should be more discreet."

"Guangtian is the head of your family. You can't do everything according to your own whims."

Some things depend on when they are done. In the past, Yu Haitang wouldn't have cared, after all, the person in front of her was her mother-in-law.

It's only natural to be scolded by your mother-in-law. In fact, many daughters-in-law have even been given rules by their mothers-in-law.

But Yu Haitang and Liu Guangtian were currently having a conflict. Gu Chunyan's words were a bit excessive. This caused Yu Haitang's face to darken instantly. The porridge in front of her suddenly seemed irritating.

"Liu Guangtian, I have no problem with you wanting to support your mother. But could you please not disturb my rest so early in the morning? I don't need her to take care of me, but don't let her disrupt my life. Look at what she made for breakfast! Is this even fit for human consumption?"

After saying that, he turned and left his house, completely ignoring Liu Guangtian's expression.

That's just how people are; when they don't like someone, everything that person does is wrong.

Watching Yu Haitang walk away, Liu Guangtian flipped the table. Only Liu Guangtian himself knew the bitterness he was going through.

After flipping the table, Liu Guangtian glared at Gu Chunyan a few times and then left.

"Don't come to my house again. I severed all ties with you a long time ago. Please stop disturbing my life. If you continue to act on your own initiative, don't blame me for being rude to you."

He had originally planned to come over and freeload, but he never expected his son's family situation to turn out like this.

"Guangtian, Mom didn't mean it. I just wanted to make you breakfast. Is it wrong for Mom to make you breakfast when it's rare for her?"

It's often said that no one knows a child better than their mother, and vice versa. Few people understand Gu Chunyan's thoughts better than the Liu brothers.

"Stop pretending. You've never taken us brothers seriously. The only reason you're here is because the Liu family is struggling and you want to take advantage of us."

"Although what Yu Haitang did was wrong, please don't bother me in my life anymore. You're fine, but we need to rest."

“My business with Yu Haitang is none of your concern. Yu Haitang may have some flaws, but at least she hasn’t done anything to wrong me. Even if she had, you have no right to interfere.”

After saying that, he turned and left his house. Seeing that his second brother and sister-in-law had left, Liu Guangfu could only quickly clean up the kitchen.

I picked up the broken bowl and then swept the porridge into the trash can with a broom.

Seeing the conflict between his second brother and sister-in-law, Liu Guangfu had no other choice. All he could do was try to ease their burdens. He pushed Gu Chunyan out of the kitchen and then locked the door.

"Can you please stop causing us trouble? You know my second brother and sister-in-law are arguing lately, can you please stop provoking them?"

"I don't care whether you did it out of kindness or intentionally. We have no relationship anymore, and no matter what you do, we won't pay any attention to you."

"Put away your compassionate facade! What you're shedding now is nothing but crocodile tears. Our hearts died years ago. Our tears have long since dried up in countless days and nights. The scars on our bodies tell us every moment just how cruel and heartless you are."

After Liu Guangfu finished speaking, he left the courtyard, bought some things on the way, and went to work at the steel rolling mill.

Only Gu Chunyan stood forlornly in the courtyard. She hadn't expected her two sons to hate her so much. She had initially hoped they could accept her, but now it seemed impossible.

She also regretted saying those things. Everything was fine before, but after just a few words, Yu Haitang got angry. This made Gu Chunyan suddenly realize that being a mother-in-law wasn't so easy after all.

Thinking of Liu Haizhong and his son in the courtyard, Gu Chunyan had no choice but to hurry out and find some work to do, otherwise she might go hungry again that night.

Gu Chunyan was just the trigger; Liu Guangtian and Yu Haitang's relationship had long been on the verge of collapse, and after this incident, the two had several more arguments.

Sha Zhu and Yu Li had tried to persuade him, but to no avail. Even Yu Li's parents had tried several times, but it remained the same.

Their relationship had completely broken down, and they ultimately chose to divorce. The divorce didn't have much of an impact on Liu Guangtian, but Yu Haitang found herself in difficult circumstances afterward.

Having grown accustomed to a comfortable life, Yu Haitang simply couldn't adapt to a life of hardship. Before, when she followed Wei Hua, although she couldn't say she ate lavish meals every day, she at least had some meat.

Since the divorce, Yu Haitang hasn't tasted meat for a whole week. If she wants to eat meat, she either has to find a way to get it herself or buy it from the street.

But each person's ticket price is limited, and it's unrealistic to expect to live a good life with that money. Yu Haitang, with her somewhat bourgeois tastes, regretted her divorce less than a week later.

I thought that after the divorce, I could live the life I wanted and frequent upscale places. But after the divorce, I realized that it was completely different from what I had imagined.
