Chapter 193 The Unlucky Jia Zhangshi

At first, everyone thought she was a beggar from somewhere, so they didn't pay much attention. They gave her some food so as not to spoil the atmosphere.

However, people soon noticed something was wrong. Unlike ordinary beggars, who never pick and choose their food, this person only chose the best-tasting items. Everyone could understand if a beggar was starving and asked for food, but it was a bit much if he only chose the best-tasting items.

Zhang Chu's parents didn't recognize Jia Zhangshi, and since Jia Zhangshi's hair was disheveled, no one else recognized her either. Zhang Chu's parents simply pushed Jia Zhangshi aside and snatched the bowl away.

“Get out of the yard right now, you beggar! I took pity on you and gave you some food, but you're being picky and even ruining what I prepared for everyone.”

"What's wrong with me eating your food? The food I prepared was for other people, so why can others eat it but I can't? Are you taking advantage of the fact that the Jia family has no one to rely on?"

"Where did that jinx Qin Huairu go? Why isn't she coming over? And where are my grandson and the others? I looked around just now and couldn't find them."

"Where did this madman come from? Get out of here right now! If you don't leave, don't blame me for being rude to you. If you want to find your grandson, go home and look for him. There's no one named Qin Huairu in our courtyard."

Upon hearing that Qin Huairu was not in the courtyard, Jia Zhangshi plopped down on the ground and began frantically searching for acquaintances.

Jia Zhangshi naturally didn't know Zhang Chu's parents, but she did know Liu Haizhong and his wife. The Liu family and the Jia family didn't have any real animosity; the main animosity lay with Qin Huairu.

"Old Liu, where did that bitch Qin Huairu go? Why don't they know anything about our Jia family? Who are they? How did they end up moving into the courtyard house?"

Hearing Jia Zhangshi's words, Liu Haizhong finally turned his attention to her. He hadn't expected her situation to be even worse than his own. Perhaps out of a sense of sympathy, Liu Haizhong, upon hearing Jia Zhangshi's words, shared what he knew.

"Your Jia family is gone, more than a decade ago. Qin Huairu herself is in a terrible state, her whole body burned by chemicals. Her house was burned down by Yi Zhonghai, and because she lost her job and had no money to pay off her debts, the Jia family's house was awarded to Wei Hua in the presence of the neighborhood committee."

"Because she had no house and no job, Qin Huairu left the courtyard house twelve or thirteen years ago. I heard she went back to Qin Family Village. As for your eldest grandson, we don't know. We haven't seen him in the past ten years."

“Not only Qin Huairu has left. Yi Zhonghai and the deaf old lady are also dead. They were new neighbors who moved in more than ten years ago. Not only are they dead, but Yan Bugui is also dead. Almost everyone from before has left, and now I am the only old man left in the courtyard.”

Hearing Liu Haizhong's words, Jia Zhangshi found it hard to accept this cruel reality. She had originally thought that she could enjoy a peaceful and happy life after returning, but who knew that the Jia family was already gone.

This was something Jia Zhangshi couldn't accept for a moment. The shock almost made her faint. Fortunately, she was sitting on the ground, which prevented her from falling, but even so, she felt dizzy and lay down on the ground.

Fortunately, the ground wasn't cold, otherwise Jia Zhangshi might have caught a cold. Everyone in the courtyard knew Jia Zhangshi's temperament, so they ignored her. But Zhang Chu's parents didn't know that, and even if they knew Jia Zhangshi used to live in the courtyard, they showed no mercy and simply dragged her out.

After being thrown out of the courtyard, Jia Zhangshi slowly came to her senses and walked back in. As soon as she entered, she started cursing. However, Zhang Chu's parents did not tolerate Jia Zhangshi. Moreover, the world had long since changed. If you dare to curse, I dare to beat you.

A few slaps were enough to make Jia Zhangshi realize the reality. Knowing that she was no match for the Zhang family, Jia Zhangshi immediately became obedient.

Since she couldn't gain any advantage from the Zhang family, she decided to try and gain an advantage from the Wei family. After all, the Wei family's house used to belong to the Jia family, and since Jia Zhangshi had nowhere to live, she set her sights on the Wei family's house.

Wei Hua and Yang Tao deliberately ignored Jia Zhangshi. Jia Zhangshi wanted to take advantage of them, so they would deal with her after the system reacted. They could do whatever they wanted to Jia Zhangshi now. Wei Hua and Yang Tao deliberately stayed in the backyard to help and did not go home.

Jia Zhangshi thought Wei Hua was weak, so when she arrived at Wei Hua's house, she treated it as her own.

The system was incredibly efficient; in less than half an hour, Wei Hua heard its voice. Hearing about the benefits, Wei Hua didn't bother with formalities with Jia Zhangshi. He dragged her out of the house, slapped her several times, broke her leg, and threw her out.

"Jia Zhangshi, do you really think I'm easy to bully? I'm only ignoring you because you're older. If I don't teach you a lesson, do you really think I'm made of clay?"

"Get the hell out of here right now, or I'll break your other leg too. I'll make sure you can only crawl on the ground from now on."

"Wei Hua, you just wait. I'm going to the neighborhood committee right now to report you for seizing my house and breaking my leg."

"Go now if you're going. Do you think the neighborhood committee will punish me or you? Don't worry about me breaking one of your legs; even if they break the other one, it won't matter much."

“Calling you a thief in your situation is an understatement. I could easily call you a robber. Facing a robber, let alone breaking a leg, I could kill you and the police station wouldn’t be able to say anything.”

"As for the house, you can sue. It was your entire Jia family who signed the agreement. If you've forgotten, ask the police station or the neighborhood committee to help you remember. I suffered a huge loss because of this house. Your house isn't even worth 600 yuan, and all I got was a piece of land, which isn't even worth 100 yuan."

Hearing Wei Hua's words, Jia Zhangshi didn't know what to do. Now that Qin Huairu and her grandson were both gone, there was little point in her staying in the courtyard.

Madam Jia gritted her teeth and stood up from the ground. Enduring the pain, she leaned against the wall and slowly left the courtyard. Although she didn't say anything, she cursed Wei Hua's ancestors for eighteen generations.

The only thing Jia Zhangshi was thankful for was that her foot was already broken, so this was just another break.

After walking for a while, Jia Zhangshi found a pharmacy to bandage her foot, and then slowly walked towards the station with her crutches.

Now, Jia Zhangshi can only try to find Qin Huairu in her hometown of Changping. Jia Zhangshi knows that given her current situation, she has no way to survive independently. Her only option is to seek refuge with Qin Huairu and her grandson.

Almost all of his acquaintances were dead, and the only old acquaintance, Liu Haizhong, had a grudge against his family. If he continued to stay in the courtyard, he would only become more miserable.

Even Wei Hua, who used to be timid, dared to break his own leg, so others would certainly not treat him like a human being.

Upon arriving at the station, Jia Zhangshi boarded a bus bound for Changping. The bus already smelled strongly of odor, and Jia Zhangshi's presence made the environment even worse.

Jia Zhangshi looked even more like a beggar than a beggar herself; her clothes were worn and tattered. She also emitted a foul odor that made others feel uncomfortable.

Smelling the stench emanating from Jia Zhangshi, everyone made way for her. However, as time passed and the carriage became increasingly crowded, it became impossible to avoid her, even if one tried to.

The road conditions weren't great, and the smell inside the carriage was unpleasant. The person next to Jia Zhangshi suddenly felt nauseous and vomited directly onto Jia Zhangshi's face.

Jia Zhangshi vomited all over her face, and this vomiting quickly triggered a chain reaction. Those near the window, fortunately close to Jia Zhangshi, also vomited. Everyone seemed to be unconsciously vomiting at Jia Zhangshi, and soon she became a dumping ground for vomit.

The foul stench made Jia Zhangshi vomit as well. This forced the driver to stop the vehicle immediately, allowing them to vomit outside before continuing. He then skillfully grabbed a mop and cleaned the entire carriage before driving on.
