Chapter 40 Malice

Looking at Lin Huiru who broke down and cried, Wen Lin felt even more guilty. He couldn't help but think of Lin Jun who died to save him.

If it weren't for Lin Jun, he would have died long ago. He had promised Lin Jun that he would take good care of his sister, but he failed to do so.

"Xiao Ru, don't cry first, don't worry, since I promised your brother that I would take care of you, I will definitely do what I said.

Even if you can't get married in the future, I will take care of you for the rest of your life, and I will never ignore you and Aunt Lin."

No matter what Lin Huiru encountered, Wen Lin already treated her as his own sister. He would keep the secret for Lin Huiru and would always stand behind her.

Lin Huiru sobbed. What Wen Lin said was not the answer she wanted at all!

But she couldn't say it clearly, nor could she be too impatient, so she had to wait a little longer.

There was a flash of madness in Lin Huiru's eyes, she was determined to get what she wanted!

——

In a blink of an eye, it was the day when Mr. Wen was to be discharged from the hospital. He recovered well after the operation and did not want to stay in the hospital for too long, so he asked the doctor for consent and was discharged.

All the members of the Wen family came over and took Grandpa Wen to the old house.

"Wanwan, you and Wen Lin should stay here with me for a few days. There are some empty rooms at home anyway."

Old Master Wen took the initiative to suggest that as he was getting older, he would like to interact more with the younger generations and it would be nice to have a lively atmosphere around him.

Mu Wanwan hesitated for a moment, but finally agreed.

Mr. Wen immediately laughed, extremely happy.

To celebrate Mr. Wen's discharge from the hospital, Mu Wanwan planned to cook a sumptuous meal herself at noon.

There was an abundance of food in the Wen family’s old house, so Mu Wanwan started getting busy as soon as she entered the kitchen.

Garlic prawns, soy sauce chicken, deep-fried fish, steamed spareribs, beef vermicelli soup, braised eggplant, hot and sour potato shreds, stir-fried beans...

There was a constant aroma coming from the kitchen.

Old Master Wen became greedy when he smelled the food. He had a great time enjoying the food during the time that Mu Wanwan lived in the old house!

Even Wen Xin, who disliked Mu Wanwan, couldn't help swallowing after smelling the fragrance.

All the dishes were placed on the table. Mu Wanwan not only steamed rice but also steamed buns.

Only after she sat down at the table did everyone start eating.

The garlic prawns are tender, smooth and delicious. When you take a bite of the shrimp meat, the juice bursts in your mouth and the aroma of the garlic spreads. It is slightly spicy, but the taste is endless.

The fried fish makes a crisp sound when you bite it. It is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The fish meat is also well-prepared and has no fishy smell at all.

Soy sauce chicken and steamed spareribs with rice flour are even more addictive. The chicken is marinated and very flavorful. After being fried and stewed, it tastes very delicious.

The ribs were so soft that they fell off the bones with just a sip. Paired with the sauce and rice, Wen Xin was so full of food that she couldn't even lift her head.

I felt a little choked, so I had another bowl of beef vermicelli soup. The beef was cooked very tender, the vermicelli was soft, and still had some chewy texture when I put it in my mouth. The soup was even more fresh and mellow.

It was the first time for Wen Xin and Song Meijuan to eat food cooked by Mu Wanwan. They didn't expect that Mu Wanwan's cooking skills were so good, much better than those of the chefs in big hotels outside!

In the end, Wen Xin couldn't even straighten her back and swayed while holding her stomach.

Song Meijuan and Mr. Wen were both relatively restrained, but they still ate a lot.

Wen Lin had a big appetite to begin with, and these dishes were all to his liking, so the remaining food all went into his stomach.

Mu Wanwan looked at the empty plates on the dining table and felt an inexplicable sense of satisfaction.

"Wanwan, you cooked the meal, so you don't have to clean up these. You've been busy for quite a while, so go back to your room and have a rest."

Seeing that Mu Wanwan still wanted to clean the table, Song Meijuan quickly stopped her.

"Okay, then I'll go over there and pack my things before coming back to the old house."

Since I'm going to stay in the old house for a few days, I must bring some daily necessities over.

"I'll go with you."

Wen Lin stood up and followed Mu Wanwan.

Mu Wanwan didn't say anything, and the two of them walked out the door side by side.

They didn't say a word along the way.

Just as we were packing up and walking towards the old house, Lin Huiru suddenly appeared.

Her face was very pale and she was wrapped tightly. When she saw Wen Lin, she felt like she had seen a savior.

"Brother Wenlin! Can you stay with me? I'm a little scared!"

Lin Huiru had tears in her eyes and looked extremely fragile, as if she was about to faint in the next second.

Wen Lin subconsciously glanced at Mu Wanwan, but there was no expression on Mu Wanwan's face, as if she hadn't heard anything at all.

After realizing that he was watching Mu Wanwan's role, Wen Lin felt annoyed. What was wrong with him? He was actually influenced by Mu Wanwan.

Song Tingyu was right. He had to act like he didn't care about Mu Wanwan at all now, just like he did before. Otherwise, Mu Wanwan would only become more aggressive in the future.

He knew what happened to Lin Huiru, and he also knew how devastated a girl would be when faced with such a thing, so it was normal for her to be afraid.

"I'm going to go back to the old house first. I'm going to put these things there."

"Then I'll go with you!"

Lin Huiru huddled beside Wen Lin and deliberately glanced at Mu Wanwan, but unfortunately Mu Wanwan didn't even look at her.

"Wan Wan, you won't be angry if I let Brother Wen Lin accompany me, right?"

Here again to intentionally disgust people.

Mu Wanwan was a little annoyed. Why did Lin Huiru pick a fight with her?

She said coldly: "I have nothing to be angry about, but I am a little curious about what you are afraid of? Could it be that you have done something wrong?"
