Chapter 33 He's not my uncle
Leng Gang has very little experience interacting with women. Apart from a few blind dates, he either scared them away or made them cry each time.
This caused him to become involuntarily nervous and stutter whenever he saw a woman, acting like a fool and not knowing what to do.
This time, three women came with a little girl. Leng Gang looked helpless, his palms sweating nervously, afraid that if he raised his voice, he would scare them.
However, it seemed a bit late. Leng Gang was rubbing the seams of his pants as he walked. When the little girl saw him, she hid behind Comrade Luo, her little face full of fear.
Leng Gang was a little annoyed. Didn't Aunt Xiulian say that he didn't look fierce in white?
Cheng Cheng and Cheng Weihong walked behind to observe, and saw the other person scratching his head and cheeks, glancing at Sister Xiao Juan and Xiao Xiao from time to time. He opened his mouth several times, but then swallowed back the words.
Cheng Weihong was getting impatient. "Speak up! Open your mouth and say something! You tall guy!"
Cheng Cheng observed carefully; the other person's physique did indeed look quite intimidating, no wonder the women were afraid of him. However, seeing Sister Xiao Juan's calm demeanor, she felt that she had the upper hand!
Leng Gang hadn't uttered a single word the whole way, but as they approached the convenience store, he finally mustered his courage and tried to soften his voice, "Comrade Luo, what would you like to drink? I'll go buy it!"
Upon hearing this, Luo Xiaojuan lowered her head and asked Xiaoxiao, "What flavor would Xiaoxiao like to drink?"
The woman tilted her head and gently asked the little girl what flavor of soda she wanted to drink. Strands of hair fell down from her temples as she lowered her head, a few strands gently touching her cheeks.
Leng Gang stared wide-eyed at the woman, completely dumbfounded, without moving.
Cheng Cheng, who was watching from behind, tried her best to suppress her laughter and nudged her cousin Cheng Weihong with her shoulder to signal her to look.
Cheng Weihong pursed her lips, thinking to herself, "Why does this big guy look a bit silly?"
"Aunt Juan, I want to drink orange flavor~"
Little Lingxiao tilted his head up and secretly glanced at his uncle next to him.
Is he the person Aunt Juan is going to meet on a blind date?
But this uncle looked so fierce, she was a little scared. However, the uncle didn't seem so scary, she saw him smile at her.
My mother always said that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover.
Leng Gang noticed the little girl's gaze and immediately forced a smile, trying his best to appear as a good person.
After asking Xiaoxiao, Luo Xiaojuan turned to look at Xiaocheng and Weihong.
Cheng Cheng: "Xiao Xiao and I drink the same thing."
Cheng Weihong: "I want the pineapple flavor."
Luo Xiaojuan looked at the man, "Three bottles of orange flavor and one bottle of pineapple flavor."
Upon receiving the signal, Leng Gang finally calmed down and strode forward.
"How's it going, Sister Luo?"
Seeing that the person had finally left, Cheng Weihong quickly stepped forward to sound out Sister Luo, "I thought the person seemed a bit dim-witted."
"And it's too dark!"
Cheng Cheng agreed with this point; her skin was indeed as black as coal. However, Luo Xiaojuan didn't seem to care too much about it. It wasn't that she didn't care, but rather that she didn't mind.
"So what if he has some flaws? As long as he's a good person with good character, can take responsibility, and earn money to support his family, that's all that matters!"
The most important thing is being able to have children. Even though Luo Xiaojuan didn't say it aloud, Cheng Cheng and Cheng Weihong understood that.
A short while later, the big guy returned with four bottles of soda, two in each hand, looking quite relaxed. Being big has its advantages.
"Xiaoxiao".
Leng Gang unscrewed the orange-flavored soda, revealing a set of bright white teeth, and handed it to the little girl.
"Thank you, Uncle!"
Although Xiao Lingxiao was still a little scared, he bravely reached out his little hand, took the soda with both hands, and politely thanked the stern-faced uncle.
"You're welcome!"
Leng Gang grinned; the little girl was no longer afraid of him.
Luo Xiaojuan noticed that the man had given them the sodas he was holding, while he himself had nothing. She asked with concern, "Why didn't you buy any for yourself?"
"I forgot!" Leng Gang looked at the woman's silly smile, scratched the back of his head. Comrade Luo wasn't afraid of him, didn't dislike him, and even cared about him. He grinned and said, "It's okay, I'm not thirsty!"
Oh no, this big oaf looks even sillier now?
However, he is willing to spend money on female comrades and is not stingy, so he passes this test.
After buying boat tickets to go boating, Cheng Cheng immediately backed out. "Forget it," she said, "it's so sunny, I'm just paying money to suffer!"
They ordered two small boats, one for Sister Juan and one for Big Guy, so that the two of them could talk to each other alone.
"How about we don't go?"
"Wait! Why aren't you going? Come on up! We've already paid, hurry up!"
Cheng Weihong was the first to board the boat and waved to Cheng Cheng and Xiaoxiao.
"Mother?"
Little Lingxiao shook his mother's hand, his little face full of excitement, clearly wanting to go boating too.
"Fine," Cheng Cheng sighed helplessly, resignedly carrying the little one onto the boat and placing him in the middle before getting on the boat herself and sitting in the back.
By the time they rowed off, Sister Xiaojuan and Big Guy had already rowed quite a distance, while Cheng Cheng was passively refusing to move, occasionally paddling with the oars – she was really paddling.
Anyway, she didn't want to work herself to death paddling under the scorching sun to the center of the lake. It wasn't necessary, really not necessary!
It's all about participation.
After paddling for a long time, their boat hadn't even gone more than ten meters. Cheng Weihong turned her head to look behind her, her eyes filled with suspicion.
Cheng Cheng gripped the oar and rowed again, looking at her with feigned confusion, "What's wrong?"
"Did you not use any strength?"
Cheng Weihong stared at her suspiciously. Sister Luo and the others had almost reached the center of the lake, but they were still standing still. There must be something wrong!
Cheng Cheng pretended to be naive, "I did use my strength, but how much strength do we have? Okay, let's just focus on participating."
"Anyway, I'm out of energy. Why don't you give me a little more effort?"
Cheng Weihong rolled her eyes; she knew Cheng Cheng was cheating behind her back!
In its anger, it rowed again and again, but the boat did not budge.
Cheng Weihong: ...
After floating on the lake for about ten minutes, and once the little one had had enough fun, the group went ashore.
About half an hour later, Luo Xiaojuan and Leng Gang returned, chatting and laughing, seemingly enjoying their conversation.
Cheng Cheng and Cheng Weihong exchanged a glance. Was it a done deal?
Just as I expected.
Luo Xiaojuan was taking Leng Gang to the hospital for a check-up, and Cheng Weihong went with her. Cheng Cheng didn't go; she took Xiaoxiao home instead.
On the way, I also stopped at a state-run restaurant and bought a roast duck. I hadn't had it in a long time, so it was a nice treat to have it once in a while.
These days are wonderful!
In the distance, the sounds of children laughing and playing mingled with the ringing of bicycle bells; the sun was blazing and the sunlight was blinding.
Zhou Yue stood at the alley entrance, carrying a black leather suitcase. A hint of confusion appeared on his cool and handsome face. Should he go left or right?
Suddenly, a clear and melodious female voice came from behind.
"How about cold noodles for lunch? Or roast duck with noodles?"
Okay~
Little Lingxiao held her mother's hand, walking and swaying, skipping and jumping. She loved to eat anything her mother made!
"Mommy, I want lots and lots of cucumber strips!"
"Okay, I'll make you lots of cucumber shreds."
The weather was so hot that she lost her appetite and didn't want to eat rice. She just wanted to eat cold noodles, which was a great choice. She also liked to add extra cucumber shreds.
Hearing the conversation between the mother and daughter behind him, Zhou Yue couldn't help but smile, thinking of his wife and daughter.
He returned in a hurry this time without writing back to inform his wife beforehand. He doesn't know what his wife and daughter are doing now. Perhaps his wife is holding his daughter's hand and teaching her to write and draw, or perhaps they are like the mother and daughter behind him, discussing what to eat for lunch.
Hearing the footsteps getting closer, Zhou Yue subconsciously turned around, wanting to ask the woman for directions, but when he saw the little girl the woman was holding, a look of surprise and joy appeared in his eyes.
"Xiaoxiao"
Zhou Yue took a few steps forward with his suitcase, but stopped when he saw his wife's unfamiliar gaze and his daughter's wary look.
When Xiao Lingxiao heard someone calling her, she looked up and saw a strange uncle. She tightened her grip on her mother's hand, looking confused and wary at the man.
"Uncle, how do you know my name?"
Upon hearing this, Zhou Yue felt a pang of pain in his heart. He put down the suitcase in his hand and looked silently at his wife and daughter.
Cheng Cheng was practically petrified!
Zhou, Zhou Yue?
Why did he suddenly come back?
So sudden!!!
Oh no, the handsome guy in the photo is now standing right in front of her, his eyes, with their sharp eyebrows and bright eyes, are looking at her with a guilty expression.
"Um, Zhou Yue."
A hint of embarrassment appeared on Cheng Cheng's face. This was normal, wasn't it? When couples live apart for a long time, there will definitely be a sense of unfamiliarity and awkwardness when they meet again.
"Mom, do you know Uncle?"
Little Lingxiao looked up at his mother, his wariness turning into curiosity.
uncle?
Cheng Cheng was even more embarrassed. She gave a dry laugh, forced a smile, and explained awkwardly, "Um, Xiao Xiao, he's not your uncle, he's your dad."
"dad?"
Xiao Lingxiao turned his head to look at the strange man in front of him. Was he his father?
Zhou Yue looked at his daughter, slowly squatted down, and opened his arms to her in a gentle tone.
"Xiaoxiao, I am your father."
"I'm sorry, Dad is late."
Xiao Lingxiao looked at his father, didn't move, and held his mother's hand tightly.
When someone you've never met before suddenly appears in front of you, even though you know he's your father, the distance caused by unfamiliarity doesn't suddenly disappear.
Cheng Cheng could understand the little guy's feelings, and even empathized with him, but it was rather awkward to be sitting there like this.
She led the little one forward and explained to the man, "Xiaoxiao is a little shy."
Then, she spoke softly to the little one, "Go on, Xiaoxiao. When Daddy wrote back last time, didn't you ask Mommy when Daddy would come back?"
"Now that Daddy's back, let Daddy take a good look at you."
Xiao Lingxiao hesitated for a moment, looking at his unfamiliar father.
Zhou Yue looked at his daughter with focused and gentle eyes, a hint of caution in them. He maintained his outstretched hand, encouraging his daughter with a gentle smile, waiting quietly with a patient expression.
Xiao Lingxiao slowly let go of his mother's hand, hesitated, and stepped forward. He had only taken a small step when the man opened his arms and hugged him.
"Daddy~"
Zhou Yue swore it was the most beautiful and melodious sound in the world. He hugged his daughter tightly and choked out a soft "Mmm."
Why does this scene look so touching? Cheng Cheng smiled as she watched the father and daughter reunite. Hey, I'll draw it when I get back!
As she was thinking, the man in front of her suddenly stood up, holding his daughter. Then her vision went dark as she was pulled into a strong embrace.
"sorry."
"Thanks for your hard work."
