Zhao Xianglan was a little confused. She didn't know what was going on. She just heard He Xinyan complaining and rushed over out of a sense of indignation.
"I...you men are all the same, of course you won't admit to cheating."
"I cheated on you?" Mi Fei almost laughed in anger, pointing at Chu Yu and asking, "Someone like her has everything. My brother Donglin looks like this, and I look like this. Brother Donglin is better than me in every way. Your wife isn't blind, how could she possibly cheat on you?"
Zhao Xianglan then realized that Logitech had a flaw.
That's right. With a boyfriend who is so handsome, from a good family, and has an extraordinary temperament, why would Chu Yu cheat on him?
She pulled He Xinyan out, and with He Xinyan's courage, Zhao Xianglan felt her back straighten up.
"Xinyan, you just said that she seduced your boyfriend, right?"
He Xinyan panicked. She had only said a few bad things about Chu Yu in front of her colleagues. After all, it's not uncommon for people to talk badly about others behind their backs. What's wrong with a woman complaining a little? How could she have known that Zhao Xianglan was so meddlesome? Like a fool, she went to confront her.
He Xinyan shook her head, looking completely innocent.
"Sister Xianglan, I don't know what you're talking about. I just said I broke up with my boyfriend, and I said I know Chu Yu, but I didn't say that Chu Yu seduced my boyfriend, or that we broke up because of her. You really are something, coming to bother people with baseless accusations and causing such a misunderstanding..."
Zhao Xianglan was stunned.
She kindly helped He Xinyan seek justice, but He Xinyan turned around and bit her.
Does this mean that Zhao Xianglan is unable to distinguish right from wrong, sows discord, and makes trouble out of nothing?
So, He Xinyan is the only good person, and Zhao Xianglan is the only fool who can't even understand what's being said, yet she comes out looking for someone to settle scores with, right?
Zhao Xianglan could no longer contain her anger. She was not someone to be bullied. She could help He Xinyan cause trouble for Chu Yu, but now that she had seen through He Xinyan's true colors as a white lotus, she could turn the tables and make He Xinyan pay.
"You little bitch, you deliberately misled me, making me think that she was the one who caused your breakup, that she stole your boyfriend. Don't try to deny it. I've asked you so many times, and you just wouldn't give a straight answer. What is that if not admitting it? Now I'm standing up for you, and now that things have gone wrong, you're trying to distance yourself from it. You're disgusting! How did I end up working with you? I spit on you!"
He Xinyan blushed and shook her head in denial, "No, I'm not that kind of person."
"No? You little slut, all you do is pretend to be high and mighty, a hypocrite! Everyone knows you, saying your parents are intellectuals, saying you don't care about a man's family background, but nobody cares more than you! You never reject men who pursue you, and when they give you things, you pretend not to want them, but you actually accept them all. You always like to find out about men's backgrounds; if they have good backgrounds, you go for it, but if they don't have money, you find an excuse to refuse. Everyone thinks you're a pure white lotus, untainted by the mud, but who knows how filthy your heart is!"
Zhao Xianglan was a shrew; she only felt satisfied after she finished scolding him.
"Today I've seen through you. I, Zhao Xianglan, have done something wrong. I apologize to Chu Yu here. I shouldn't have been provoked and accused you without even knowing the facts."
After Zhao Xianglan finished speaking, she snorted coldly, picked up her bag, and stormed off.
He Xinyan's face flushed red and then turned pale as she awkwardly tried to explain:
"That's just her temper. She often causes trouble at work. I don't know why she's like a mad dog, rushing up to yell at Chu Yu."
Mi Fei wasn't fooled. "You don't know? If you hadn't told her, how could she possibly know Chu Yu's name? He Xinyan, you know why we broke up. I hope you'll think twice and stop saying things that could cause misunderstandings. Try to find the reasons within yourself."
He Xinyan was on the verge of tears. Mi Fei used to treat her like a goddess, but now he treated her like trash.
"Mi Fei, how could you think of me like that?"
"What I said is true. Let's part amicably and pretend we don't know each other if we meet again. Don't spread rumors anymore, or I, Mi Fei, won't take it lying down."
He Xinyan watched Mi Fei walk away, looking utterly dejected.
She had painstakingly schemed for years, and this was the closest she had ever come to power and wealth, but she lost the opportunity because of her affectation and pretentious aloofness.
He Xinyan wiped away her tears. What's so great about them? They're just kids from high-ranking families.
One day, she will marry into that place and make Mi Fei look at her with new eyes.
He Xinyan walked out of the gate and saw a simply dressed old woman from the countryside in the distance, saying to the gatekeeper that she was looking for someone.
"Brother, please make an exception. My granddaughter, Zhou Chuyu, is a student at Tsinghua University. I need to see her. Please let me meet her..."
Zhou Chuyu?
He Xinyan thought she had misheard. Zhou Chuyu was a student at Tsinghua University? How could that be!
