Chapter 313 Buying the Formula

"Making food is different from other businesses. Food has warmth. The warmth of the chef, the warmth of the city, and the warmth of the country can all be reflected in this small plate of food. I, Uncle Cai, have been making snacks all my life. I have made each snack tens of thousands of times. Even when I was sick of it, I still did it with a devout heart. As long as you have the right attitude, whatever you do will be seen."

Uncle Cai spoke earnestly.

Chu Yu felt like she was attending a class taught by some life guru.

"Uncle Cai, why didn't you marinate the chicken legs properly and let the chicken absorb the flavor before putting them in the oil?"

Uncle Cai smiled and said, "This is the essence of our Hong Kong-style chicken thighs. We use a deep-frying method. Some vendors, in order to save time, marinate the chicken thighs before frying, thinking it will be faster. Little do they know, the taste is different! It's not worth it!"

Chu Yu finally understood why Hong Kong-style chicken cutlets were so different: the cooking and frying methods were different.

Chu Yu spends at least ten hours a day at Want Want Ice Room.

Dai Donglin was extremely helpless. He had originally wanted to spend some time alone with her, but she was either reading financial magazines or going to the stock exchange. On weekdays, she would go to learn how to fry chicken every day, and when she came back, she would smell terrible. By the time she finished washing her hair and taking a shower, it was always the middle of the night.

Several times, Dai Donglin waited for her until he fell asleep, but she still didn't come out of the bathroom.

Dai Donglin felt wronged and held Chu Yu tightly in his arms, not letting her leave that morning.

"We rarely get to see each other, how can you bear to leave me behind?"

Chu Yu also felt sorry for him, but there was nothing she could do. If he didn't learn some real skills, Yorkham's localization would fail. Right now, Yorkham's biggest problem was that it didn't have any signature products or local characteristics.

Chu Yu pondered that after launching breakfast, she would use the recipe for Shu Family Roujiamo (Chinese hamburger) and add products from Gangcheng such as egg tarts, big-faced chicken legs, Hong Kong-style milk tea, and wontons, making improvements in various aspects. She was sure she could create two standout products.

A store with one signature product is enough to sustain it for a lifetime.

If Yorkham had a few signature dishes, and the food in the restaurant had been improved in many ways in the kitchen, it wouldn't feel so insecure when facing Western fast food.

Chu Yu was full of energy and went to Wangzai Ice Room every day. She was also good at interpersonal relationships. After bringing gifts for Uncle Cai and Grandma Cai and buying toys for Xia Jiaozi, the two sides got along well after ten days. Uncle Cai shared all the knowledge he knew with her to the best of his ability.

Chu Yu's cooking skills are average, and she doesn't often go into Yorkham's kitchen.

Needless to say, Chu Xiang just finished the college entrance examination this year and rarely cooks. Chu Chu, who loves to cook the most among the three sisters, didn't come.

The two of them could only put in the hard work to learn all of Uncle Cai's skills, fearing that the recipe they bought with the huge sum of money from two houses would end up being a shoddy imitation, and then all the money would have been wasted.

"I wish Chu Chu could come." Chu Xiang rubbed her aching shoulders. "Sister, there's a book fair at a bookstore in Gangcheng tomorrow. I'd like to go check it out."

"Go ahead, the books here are expensive, do you have enough money? I'll give you some more."

"That's enough. Some of these books are banned in mainland China. I want to buy a set to read back home."

Chu Yu reminded her, "We still need to ask if it can get through customs. Some books are checked very carefully by customs, and if you can't bring them through, you'll have bought them for nothing."

Chu Xiang nodded and agreed.

Chu Yu also wanted to take a break. She had been busy with the formula these past few days and hadn't had the mood to go out and explore. Besides acquiring the formula, buying a house, and bringing her team to learn from others, she also had other things she wanted to do in Hong Kong.
