Luo Kangcheng's apartment in Beijing was arranged by his work unit; it had two bedrooms and a living room and was not far from her home.
“That’s my jurisdiction. If this happens again, just call me.” Luo Kangcheng took out a notebook and pen and left Chu Yu his extension number and home address.
Luo Kangcheng lived not far from Chu Yu. Recent events had made Chu Yu a little uneasy, but with Luo Kangcheng around, she felt like she had a reliable support.
"Thank you, Uncle Luo."
“I have something to do at work. Next time you go to Uncle Luo’s house for dinner, don’t you like your great-grandmother’s fish? Ask your great-grandmother to cook fish for you.”
Chu Yu readily agreed, and when she got back, she told Shu Hui about it. Shu Hui also thought it was quite a coincidence that Luo Kangcheng had come to Beijing.
"Your Grandpa Luo likes the pancakes I make, I'll send some over later."
"Mom, the phone number and address are written here. If anything happens, just call Uncle Luo. We have a phone installed at home, so don't be stingy with it."
Shu Hui agreed.
Cao Gang was beaten and looked extremely disheveled. When he got home, his mother applied iodine to his wounds, and Cao Gang screamed in pain. Cao Gang's daughter, Cao Xueying, sat on the bed, twisting her waist.
"Grandma, who beat my dad up like this?"
"Who else! Isn't it that jinxed old widow's daughter! That brat is incredibly fierce; she's the one who injured your father's hand."
Cao Xueying curled her lip, unconvinced: "What's so great about an old widow that my dad is so concerned about her?"
"An old widow? You're really talking big, girl. Do you know how rich that old widow is?"
"What money could she possibly have? She has three daughters, and no man wants her."
"That famous Yorkham Fast Food restaurant in Beijing, she owns it! You tell me, isn't she rich!"
Cao Xueying's eyes widened. All she ever wanted in her life was to live a life free from worries about food and drink, but unfortunately, she ended up with an old man in his forties. He had some money, but he didn't manage it. Giving him money was like squeezing toothpaste out of him.
He also has to watch out for the shrew in his house.
Cao Xueying was also feeling a bit annoyed. If her father could win over Shu Hui and take Yorkham under his wing, wouldn't she be able to do whatever she wanted and spend as much money as she wanted? After all, Shu Hui was soft-hearted and didn't have any family backing her up.
There's nothing wrong with her father taking advantage of the family's wealth!
"Dad, this won't work. I have an idea." Cao Xueying whispered a few words in Cao Gang's ear, and Cao Gang's eyes lit up. "Will this work?"
"Why not? Your daughter knows how to handle both men and women. Trust me, you won't go wrong. All you need to do is..."
Chu Yu was unaware that she had been set up. Last year, Zhang Ying's husband said he wanted to open a shop, and Chu Yu suggested that he open a factory.
Originally, I wanted to buy a few sewing machines to start a garment factory and do simple clothing wholesale.
"The machines and equipment are all bought, but the store location hasn't been decided yet." Zhang Ying is extremely busy, spinning around like a top every day. After class, she goes home to take care of her daughter and help her husband manage the store.
Chu Yu pondered, "I heard there are stalls at the zoo, and they even have sheds. You can rent a stall for a few thousand yuan."
"zoo?"
"That place does clothing wholesale, targeting the mid-to-low-end market. The clothes aren't expensive, and they sell in large quantities, so it's all about small profits but quick turnover. I figure wholesale is easier than retail these days. There are fewer factories and more street vendors, so many people can't get their hands on the goods. As long as you have the goods, they'll sell easily."
After listening to Chu Yu's analysis, Zhang Ying really thought the zoo was a good place. She told her husband about it, and he was very efficient, so they went to the zoo that afternoon.
After inspecting the area, I felt that it had a good flow of people, and it used to be a gathering place for some stalls.
Now that it has grown to a certain scale, with sheds built, the stall fees are not cheap, costing over 3,000 yuan, but considering the foot traffic, it's really not that much.
Zhang Ying's husband spent the whole morning squatting at the wholesale market near the zoo. After careful counting, he found that all the businesses were doing quite well. Some of the big sellers could sell one or two thousand pieces of clothing in a single morning, which was incredibly outrageous.
"One or two thousand pieces? Even if you only make one dollar per piece, you can still make one or two thousand."
"It's impossible to make a single dollar. Wholesalers also make double the profit. I've calculated it. The cost of a pair of jeans is only a few dollars, but the wholesale price is over ten dollars. Wholesalers make just as much as retailers."
Zhang Ying had little experience and was hearing about this for the first time. She was a little incredulous, since every time she went to the wholesale market to buy things, people there always looked like they were in pain, saying that they wouldn't make much money at all.
So it turns out she was the one putting on the show.
The couple found a stall in a good location and rented it for 4,000 yuan. The location was not small, several meters long, and spacious in both the front and back, enough to hold a lot of goods.
Seeing their career taking off, the couple felt full of energy, as if having rented an apartment in Beijing and established a business, the next step would be to settle down and live there.
Zhang Ying had a tough time, and Chen Qiufen was happy for her.
It just so happened that her parents were in Beijing on business and invited her to dinner.
Chen Qiufen's mother waved to her.
"here."
Chen Qiufen's parents were dressed very well, and they looked like they had some power. In those days, many of her classmates' parents were simple farmers. Chen Qiufen felt quite proud that her parents were so powerful.
Mr. Chen pushed up his glasses, took his tray, and got his food with Chen Qiufen. Chen Qiufen glanced at the braised pork.
"I want to eat braised pork."
Chen's mother frowned. "Why are you eating braised pork? Look how fat you are. With your weight, how dare you eat meat?"
Chen Qiufen pursed her lips. "Then can I have some chicken, okay?"
"Why are you eating chicken? Eat something vegetarian. Look how thick your legs are. If people see that your father and I have such a fat daughter, how would we face them?"
