Chapter 37 Dai Donglin is so restless!

"What happened?" Du Chun'e asked Liao Hongmei.

"What happened?! You guys got ambushed!"

Although Liao Hongmei got along well with Du Chun'e, Du Chun'e didn't call her when she sold the night-shining sand. On the surface, she didn't care, but in her heart, she wanted to dig up Du Chun'e's ancestral graves! Seeing Du Chun'e so distraught, she was also a little gloating.

"Shu Aiguo told the villagers last night that he wanted to collect luminous sand. People went up the mountain to shovel it overnight, and dragged it to the Zhou family's place to weigh it this morning. Goodness! The whole village shoveled it for her. Just imagine, they could have shoveled up all the bat droppings they could!"

Du Chun'e thought about the unusual behavior of the villagers yesterday and realized that Shu Aiguo's niece was really cunning. She looked delicate and easy to deal with, but she managed to ruin her business with one move!

Du Chun'e deeply regretted her words that provoked Chu Yu. She should have gone up the mountain to shovel luminous sand at night, so she could have avoided Shu Aiguo's family. She was imitating others to make money, and her words were so offensive that the little hussy had picked a fight with her!

Du Chun'e was filled with regret when she realized how well the luminous sand sold. She wished she hadn't spent money on cloth and comic books; her family had only been rich for a day before falling back into poverty!

"What should we do?!" Du Chun'e was extremely anxious.

Liao Hongmei laughed at her in her heart, but said aloud:

"Old Zhang's wife went next door to sell night-shining sand today. She said that Shu Lao Er is raising quails, and quail eggs sell very well in the city. You can make several cents per egg! They can sell as many as they have! Old Zhang's wife also said that they have a small cart in their yard, exactly the same as the carts that individual vendors on the street carry! Do you think Deng Fangping is going to follow suit and become an individual vendor?"

"A self-employed individual?" Even though Du Chun'e was so poor she couldn't afford food, she still looked down on self-employed individuals. How shameful it was to be a self-employed individual; you had to go out on the street to sell your wares, and you didn't even have any shelter from the wind and rain. "Do you think you can make money as a self-employed individual?"

Liao Hongmei didn't know either, but she figured that people weren't stupid; if they didn't make money, would they push their carts around on the street and hawk their wares every day?

"She's running her own business, so you should too!" Liao Hongmei suggested.

Du Chun'e was frightened. She had no problem shoveling luminous sand, but she really had no idea how to run a small business.

"I'm not asking you to start right now. Let your husband, Lao Zhao, go with them first to see what they do, where they work, and how well they do it. If they do well, we can start one together, splitting the cost. It'll definitely be just as good as what they do!"

Du Chun'e thought that the mountain was full of at least tens of thousands of catties of luminous sand, and that the little hussy had earned it all in one night. How much money must he have made!

Du Chun'e was envious. The more she thought about it, the more she felt that Liao Hongmei's words made a lot of sense. She then asked Zhao Qianjin to keep an eye on Shu Aiguo's family.

The next morning, Shu Aiguo went to the city to sell luminous sand without asking Chu Yu to come along. Chu Yu simply rode her bicycle to town and bought pork leg meat and flour to teach Shu Hui and Deng Fangping how to make roujiamo (Chinese hamburger).

Just as I taught them how to cook the pork, Xiao Jiang came bounding back and pulled a tube of toothpaste from under the bed.

"Where are you going?" Chu Yu called out to him.

"The sugar sculptor is here, I need to go buy one."

Xiao Jiang hadn't had candy in a long time and was really craving it. Three tubes of toothpaste could be exchanged for a Sun Wukong candy figurine, but unfortunately, Uncle Shu's family couldn't even afford a meal, let alone toothpaste. Xiao Jiang would have to wait half a year to get a tube of toothpaste.

Chu Yu took out a dollar and gave it to him, "One for each of you, buy whatever you want!"

Little Jiang, like a mischievous monkey, was afraid of being seen by his mother. He grabbed the money and ran away. Deng Fangping heard the voices from inside the house and came out to stop him, but before she could even step out, Little Jiang had already disappeared.

"You spoil him too much!" Deng Fangping sighed.

Chu Yu smiled and said, "Kids like to eat, that's normal. Give him some money to make him happy. This feeling of happiness will stay with him for a long time. Even when he grows up and thinks about it, he will still feel happy."

Having been a child herself, Chu Yu knows what children are thinking. Even though she earns money, she is still willing to spoil her younger siblings. As long as they don't get cavities or get sick from eating, what's a little snack?

On the gravel road in Shanguan Village, a military green off-road vehicle was driving shakily.

Dai Donglin was sitting in the driver's seat, already fed up with the bumpy ride on this terrible road!

"Brother Donglin, this place is called Shanguan Village, and the road is really bad! There are potholes every three meters and holes every five meters. There's not a single shelter on the mountain road. If it rains, the car will definitely slip and fall off the cliff!" Mi Fei said grumbling.

Dai Donglin was already annoyed by being shaken, but Mi Fei kept nagging in his ear like a monk chanting sutras:

"If you want to get rich, build roads first. No wonder Shanguan Village is poor! With bad roads, cars can't get in, and it's hard to sell anything from the mountains. It would be a miracle if they got rich! The people in Shanguan Village aren't as smart as those in Zhoujia Village. Look at Zhoujia Village, they got rich by blocking the road. A few women would sleep in front of the cars and wouldn't let them leave unless they paid! They could make fifty yuan a night! That's faster than robbing the People's Bank of China!"

Mi Fei could hardly imagine that such a remote and desolate place could produce such a delicate girl as Chu Yu, whose skin was like soap soaked in water, or like beautiful jade flowing through a mountain spring, making one feel guilty just by looking at her.

"Brother Donglin, you haven't even officially started a relationship with her yet, and you're already running off to her village. What if you scare the girl away!"

Mi Fei was too embarrassed to say it, what if the girl already had a boyfriend?

Where do you think you're putting your face, Dai Donglin?!

Dai Donglin squinted and beckoned to him with his finger. Mi Fei, sitting in the passenger seat, shamelessly moved closer to him.

"elder brother?"

Dai Donglin used a quick, swift movement to lock his neck.

Dai Donglin grew up in the compound and practiced military boxing from a young age. In winter, he would take cold showers and be called out by his grandfather to run before dawn. As soon as the bugle sounded, regardless of whether he was sleeping or not, his blanket would be pulled off.
