As Qiao Shanshan lay in bed, all she could think about was how good Lu Jinwen had been to her. She realized now that those details she had overlooked were full of love.
Qiao Shanshan cried as she thought about it, and eventually, she cried herself to sleep on the bed because she was tired.
She hadn't eaten all day and was too shy to go out and find food. The next morning, she ate an extra piece of bread, which displeased her mother.
"What are you doing eating pancakes when you're an old woman who doesn't do any work? If you eat so much, what are the men in the family supposed to eat?"
Qiao Shanshan was taken aback for a moment, "I didn't eat yesterday."
"You didn't eat?" Mother Wei was taken aback and thought the girl was being too dramatic. "So what if you didn't eat? It's your own fault for being so inflexible and not taking the time to find something to eat. By the time you came out, all the food on the table had been eaten. It wouldn't be right to find something for you to eat at home!"
Qiao Shanshan lowered her head and remained silent.
Wei Mingyuan tried to smooth things over, saying, "Mom, it's just a piece of flatbread."
"This isn't just a flatbread! We only have this much food at home, so of course the men have to eat it first! The wives in our village are too embarrassed to even pick up any other food at the table, let alone eat flatbread. But you, you're thinking about even this little bit. You must really be greedy!"
Ms. Wei was unhappy, but Qiao Shanshan told herself that she had to be patient. She would be back at the team in a few days, and once she got back, she wouldn't have to suffer like this anymore without her annoying mother.
On the table was a plate of stir-fried cabbage with pork, containing three slices of meat. Mother Wei gave one slice of meat to Wei Mingyuan's father, and the remaining two slices to Wei Mingyuan and his younger brother.
Qiao Shanshan frowned, staring at the meat in Wei Mingyuan's bowl. Wei Mingyuan chuckled dryly, glanced at his mother, and picked up the meat for Qiao Shanshan.
Qiao Shanshan breathed a sigh of relief; Wei Mingyuan wasn't all that bad.
Mother Wei was displeased. "Why would a woman like her eat meat? It's such a big piece of meat. We can't eat this every day at home. You've worked so hard at the team. You need to replenish your body. You should eat more!"
Mother Wei placed Qiao Shanshan's meat into Wei Mingyuan's bowl.
Wei Mingyuan was a little embarrassed. He glanced at Qiao Shanshan and gave her a wink.
Qiao Shanshan was heartbroken. She could tell the family’s character from just one dish. She didn’t care about such a small thing. She had been used to a life of luxury in her previous life and didn’t care about having one more or one less bite.
But this family has bad character.
She's only just married into the family and she's already like this. How can she really live separately without any conflicts in the future?
Mother Wei is so biased and unreasonable, shouldn't we just upset her?
Qiao Shanshan felt uneasy and had no sense of security. After her rebirth, she thought she was clever, but she made such a big mistake. All she felt was regret.
If only life could start over, she wished she could live her life again after death. This time, she might not think about Dai Donglin, but instead focus on Lu Jinwen. She wanted to be good to Lu Jinwen, not argue or have a cold war with him, not be greedy and not be picky about him.
But life doesn't offer second chances every time.
Qiao Shanshan cried all night, and the next morning, she got up with swollen eyes. When Wei's mother saw her like this, she was very unhappy.
"People would think we've mistreated her!" Mother Wei complained to the neighbors about her daughter-in-law. "All she ever does is ask for flatbread and meat. What kind of girl is so greedy, wanting to eat everything? How can any family be happy with a daughter-in-law like that?"
Qiao Shanshan, hiding behind a tree, heard her say that to someone, and her ears were ringing.
She couldn't hear what others were saying; all she knew was that her mother was dissatisfied with her, no matter what she did.
Qiao Shanshan felt unbalanced.
She even considered returning to Beijing to win Lu Jinwen back.
Wei Mingyuan saw Qiao Shanshan's behavior and was surprised that a trip back to his hometown would turn into such a mess. Wei Mingyuan was a bit of a chauvinist and felt that ultimately it was because Qiao Shanshan was immature and too petty. He believed that women shouldn't be so delicate.
His mother was pregnant but still did housework, fed the pigs, worked in the fields, and took care of the child. How come Qiao Shanshan is so spoiled?
His mother is an elder, so it's fine if she says a few words, but why is Qiao Shanshan going against her elder?
The New Flying Training Center is busy recruiting students. Chu Yu can't help with anything else, so she can only help Zhang Ying post advertisements. It has to be said that Chu Yu has excellent judgment.
There is a large shortage of English training classes. Students want to learn English but don't have good places to go. Xin Feiyang is relatively formal in all aspects. Zhang Ying has a high level of education and has introduced many advanced teaching concepts from Gangcheng, which students find very refreshing.
Many people sign up after trying out the class.
The registration price wasn't particularly high, considering it was just starting out, and Zhang Ying didn't dare to set the training course prices too high.
Fortunately, the enrollment volume is large, so it's still quite profitable.
If there is explosive growth in the future, and we can recruit several times more students, then we will really make a lot of money.
Zhang Ying was dreaming of getting rich overnight.
In fact, if you earn money with your own hands, even if you fail once or twice, you will eventually succeed.
But not everyone understands this principle.
Ever since Mao Xia was beaten by a customer, Sister Hua has ignored her for a long time, and hasn't introduced any customers to her for a month.
Mao Xia made money by working as a prostitute. She used to earn a high salary, but now she works as a low-level prostitute. She has already suffered enough, but now she can't even earn this little bit of money.
Mao Xia was furious, but didn't know what to do.
She felt that this line of work was not a long-term solution. Indeed, being a prostitute could help her solve her immediate problems, but the problem was that Sister Hua didn't like her and wouldn't introduce customers to her. Even if Mao Xia wanted to make money, there was no way to do so.
Other places pay even less, so Mao Xia might as well work as a part-time cleaner or a convenience store worker; at least then her body would be clean.
