Chu Yu was unaware of Miao Cuihong's thoughts. On a weekend morning, Dai Donglin and Chu Yu had nothing to do. They lay in bed, both of them waking up early, unable to fall back asleep, yet unwilling to get out of bed.
Dai Donglin pinched Chu Yu's cheek, and Chu Yu touched Dai Donglin's chin. The two smiled at each other.
Before long, Dai Donglin smelled the scent of her hair and was somewhat moved. He put Chu Yu's arm around his waist, and the two of them were cuddling on the bed. Chu Yu felt numb all over and didn't dare to disturb others. She could only bite her lip. Her expression of wanting to cry but not daring to cry made Dai Donglin feel infinitely sorry for her.
After an unknown amount of time, Dai Donglin finally finished, and Chu Yu's forehead was covered in sweat.
Dai Donglin hugged Chu Yu from behind and couldn't resist biting her. Chu Yu muttered, "Are you a dog?"
"Yes, you have a problem with that?"
"How could I dare to have any objections? If I did, I'm afraid you, like a dog, would pounce on me and bite me."
Dai Donglin actually pounced on her, but instead of biting her, he did something shameful, which made Chu Yu regret saying those words. After all, this man was easily provoked and couldn't withstand any teasing.
The bed swayed slightly, and Miao Cuihong, listening from the doorway, couldn't help but purse her lips.
This woman only manages to seduce men in bed; otherwise, how could a man tolerate her behavior? If Miao Cuihong were the mother-in-law, and her daughter-in-law slept until nine o'clock, with the sun high in the sky, she definitely wouldn't stand for it! Not getting up early to do laundry and cook is one thing, but to keep her husband in bed is quite another—that's not the behavior of a good woman!
Miao Cuihong felt it was all too unfair.
She thought highly of Comrade Dai, believing him to be outstanding, only held back by his lazy wife. Miao Cuihong didn't know why, but she would project her feelings onto Chu Yu's mother-in-law, thinking that Chu Yu was incompetent and had many flaws.
Miao Cuihong really wanted to help Chu Yu correct her bad habits, but Comrade Dai was not someone to be trifled with, and Miao Cuihong didn't dare to confront Chu Yu directly.
On the weekend, Miao Cuihong was on vacation. Chu Yu took out a letter, held it in his hand for a moment, and wasn't sure who wrote it.
This is a letter from the United States. Years ago, if Chu Yu had received such a letter, she would have been criticized and denounced.
The letter was brought from home by Shu Hui, who said it was written for Chu Yu. When Chu Yu opened it, she realized it was written by Yan Hongzhe.
Chu Yu was stunned for a moment, then remembered that when everyone wrote their graduation messages, he had written his mailing address and phone number for future correspondence. Most people didn't have a phone at home, so the phone number field was left blank, but the address was written down.
In his letter, Yan Hongzhe described in detail his experiences in the United States.
He said that he had studied and worked in the United States for many years and originally wanted to return to revitalize China, but he lost his way home. On his parents' advice, Yan Hongzhe joined an internet company, which was a giant in the United States. With his excellent spoken English and computer knowledge, Yan Hongzhe got a good offer and stayed in the United States.
But after a year in the United States, Yan Hongzhe was not happy.
He still wanted to return to China to contribute to its development.
But Yan Hongzhe didn't know what he could do.
Yan Hongzhe believes that computers are the future of China. Today, China is more open and inclusive. Yan Hongzhe's company will also open a branch in China. Yan Hongzhe believes that China should not allow others to monopolize the internet industry. China should have its own internet companies.
So he wanted to ask Chu Yu if she still remembered the vow she made when she was young.
Was that phrase "revitalize China" just empty talk, or was it something he truly meant?
He also asked Chu Yu what she had been busy with lately and whether she had become the person he dreamed of being. He hoped that Chu Yu would reply, feeling that a letter carried more weight than a phone call, and that he could glean insights into Chu Yu's heart from the letter.
Chu Yu was somewhat surprised after reading the letter. They hadn't been in contact for several years, and she hadn't expected Yan Hongzhe to join an internet company and achieve such success. In this day and age, few people who could go abroad would return to China, so Yan Hongzhe's choice to return to China to start his own business was undoubtedly a wise one.
Chu Yu looked out the window. Winter had passed and spring had arrived, and spring was in full bloom. It was already spring of 1994. Spring should be about doing things that are meant for spring, and spring should be full of vitality, whether it is this era, this country, or young people like them.
They will all find their own little white flower in the spring of China.
Chu Yu picked up her pen, paused for a moment, and then wrote down what she wanted to say to Yan Hongzhe on the letter paper.
Yan Hongzhe:
Greetings!
It's been many years since we last met, and I never expected that you would still remember our classmate friendship.
I have been busy with my career since graduation. Now my work is going well, I am quite wealthy, I have been married for three years and have a son and a daughter.
I own a clothing company, a skincare company, a restaurant company, a real estate company, and a car company.
You say the internet is the future of China, but I think that's not necessarily true. Isn't the automotive industry the future? Isn't the catering industry the future? Isn't manufacturing the future? There's no such thing as a real future. The future of China lies in its talent. Only when all Chinese sons and daughters are willing to fight for the country can China become a nation of dreams.
Back then, you didn't understand why I went into business, or why I didn't pursue further education and contribute to China's computer industry.
Back then, I replied to you, "We may take different paths, but we will eventually reach the same destination. We will meet at the summit one day."
It now appears that this peak is just around the corner.
You have the technology, I have the money; let's join forces to create the future of the Chinese internet.
We eagerly await your return to create a legend together!
Chu Yuliu
Chu Yu naturally knew the weight of the letter, and fearing that Yan Hongzhe would receive it too slowly, Chu Yu even drove to the Municipal Bureau to mail the letter.
